Say what you will about the abuse of power. Everyone in a position of power needs to feel that they have morality on their side, no matter how depraved their behavior is. Its the common thread between witch hunting, deadbeat dad hunting, rapist hunting or Saddam Hussein hunting. The problem is that is all too often disconnected from the facts. Remember what deep throat said, "follow the money".

There is no question what the DA did. The only question is will the BAR protect its own or will it do what is right.

The Duke coach fell on his sword in an effort to do all he could to help his student athletes.

The university needs to make him whole. And see if they can either compensate him for salary missed and pay for moving expenses or do everything they can to find another job for the incoming coach and bringing the original coach back

Yet I would wager that the majority of people on this site assume a person is guilty before hearing any facts simply because they have been arrested, accused and put on trial. Cops and DAs pull this shit all the time. Only difference this time it was some well to do white boys and the case hit the national media. For those of you who sit on juries, truly never assume that the accused is guilty, or that they are guilty of what they are accused of.

The media attention came when the white boys were assumed to be guilty. The story was that a bunch of racist frat boy types raped a black stripper.

The story was never "look how these poor white kids were railroaded" until well after it became obvious that this was a frame job from the start.

I think the students and professors who protested in front of their houses should be forced to attend diversity training.

Remember that this whole 'fiasco' began when the left-wing liberal Democrat Nifong sought to win his election by pandering to his black constituency. Remember, too, how quickly the left-wing liberal Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson along with their media cohorts jumped to the presumption that the three accused boys were necessarily guilty.

Update - he's disbarred.

Now someone should look into Nifong's previous cases. He's been working as a prosecutor in Durham for a long time. It's a stretch to believe that this is the first time he's prosecuted someone with no evidence, or the first time he withheld exculpatory evidence. How many innocent people has he put in jail who didn't have money for expensive lawyers like the lacrosse players did?

This prosecutor should be more than disbarred -- he should be jailed. For him to intentionally keep back evidence that would have cleared these guys from the beginning is criminal.

Now someone should look into Nifong's previous cases...
