Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

At a closed door meeting over immigration legislation, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) got into a shouting match with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), telling him at one point, "Fuck you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room,"

Loose cannons sink candidacies?

[Expletive] McCain!

He used a curse word associated with chickens

Cocksucker?

shows you that now the pigs are running for president.

I have lost all respect for McCain. To hell with him and his damn "Immigration Reform" bill. He claims to know more about it than any other man in the room. Does he also know if we just follow the laws on immigration that are already on the book we might be able to solve the problem?

Chickens and pigs?

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

McCain is losing it.

The man makes Howard Dean look mellow by comparassion.

There you have it Rebublicans, one of the best and brightest representatives of your party.

You must be so proud!

Why does John McCain hate chickens?

This isn't the first time he's had control problems. Dear republicans: do you want this guy near the "football"?

what a statesman!!

If McCain was a Dem, Hannity would say that he'd become unhinged.

I always dislike someone who thinks he's the smartest person in the room. 'course everyone in the room probably felt that way about himself.

Which kids network did this air on?

How many children sit down and watch CSPAN?

A: Zero.

Who cares the he swore? Really, does it matter. Things get heated when trying to craft laws and if this is the worst of it, then I think we're doing ok.

Look at the news. At least once a month you see some fist fight taking place in some other countries legislative chambers.

What a bunch of fucking crap.

Politicians(sorry) are human, they get mad.

So do you and I.

Because they are public (pubic?)* servants doesn't mean they are different.

Lighten up.

I am losing respect for the people that have such tender lives that a little profanity shocks them out of their panties.

Nobody wants public figures swearing constantly.

Guess what?

Shit happens.

Stop being such a group of overly moral prigs.

*Sorry P. Clinton, slip-of-the-tongue.

it would appear that you have no "common sense" it is called character. That is a trait that the white house needs badly

Good post, Keith.

I couldn't agree more.

it would appear that you have no "common sense" it is called character

"Just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have character."

I don't care if he called the guy every name in the book.

It's the "I know more about this than anyone" mentality that I find questionable.

To me it's just another illustration of how wiggy McCain is getting.

The man is not right.

I do believe if you listen closely , in the distance you will hear a very fat, lady singing for him. It is over

Wrong, at the moment, I have no rage and find no reason to swear.

At any moment I could get fucking pissed off and swear.

Simple isn't it?

are you running for president?

There's something worse going on than swearing.

McCain's aides have acknowledged that the senator hasn't been as active in the Senate THIS YEAR as he's been out campaigning. As Capitol Briefing noted Thursday, McCAIN HASN'T CAST A VOTE IN MORE THAN FIVE WEEKS NOW.

After making a few comments, McCain left the Capitol to head to New York for presidential campaign events. Later that day, McCain missed his 43RD STRAIGHT NOTE, this on the $2.9 trillion budget outline.

Wow....that's brilliant. Did you come up with that line all by yourself?

What was I thinking. McCain should be banned from running, after all, he said a bad word.

While I despise McCain, I hardly think using the slang term for procreation should somehow get him hot water, especially when used in a heated argument.

"While I despise McCain, I hardly think using the slang term for procreation should somehow get him hot water, especially when used in a heated argument"

Amazing!

So I guess you wouldn't have a problem with your 10 year old using that same "slang term for procreation" now would you?

Sad.

Twinpac spots it...

43rd Straight Vote"

Bingo.

That's the real story here.

McCain is an arrogant and vulgar man who made a "bad swear" is the central theme of this hatchet story but the real nail in the coffin is that tag line.

Fer a guy who spends all his time campaigning and little time voting or studying the issues himself John McCain sure doesn't seem to think an outburst like this will attract headlines that might hurt his campaign.

Thought he was "among friends"

That's kinda naive, aint it?

Who spilled the beans, again?

"according to multiple sources -- both Democrats and Republicans -- who heard firsthand accounts of the exchange from lawmakers who were in the room"

(Et tu, neo-cons?)

They were lining up to tell this one.

The "no vote/ campaign whore" thing is significant, plus his emerging, apparently bi-partisan enemies list.

The fact that McTaint dropped the eff bomb?

Spud don't give a flying fuck about that.

Be Well.

Exactly Twin.

Is he being paid for his service during those five weeks? Is he using transportation paid for by tax payers while not participating in senate matters?

Who gives a shit if he swears? The guy isn't even working. How many of the other senators are missing this many votes?

"McCain is an arrogant and vulgar man"

If he were to be elected, it would be more of the same.

Quoting McClain:

"My bad"

He may be someones idea of a scumbag. He does know how to apologize.

Maybe John McCain and Dick Cheney could have a, "Fuck Off!" Contest on the Senate floor?

Winner gets vaulted to the next level, a Drag Queen Runway Walk-Off, American Idol style.

a Drag Queen Runway Walk-Off, American Idol style with Rudy Giuliani.

I guess you have no respect then for this administration's FCC which has made it its mission to protect all those tender little ears by fining people who use words like that millions of dollars.

While I despise McCain, I hardly think using the slang term for procreation should somehow get him hot water, especially when used in a heated argument.

Posted by COMMONSENSE

Tell that to those broadcasters being fined millions for the same thing.

What bothers me is the outright hypocrasy of conservatives who have mounted campaigns to make sure these words never make it to the ears of the American public, even censoring live sporting events and such, yet have no problems with their heros using the same words in everyday speech.

Dick McCain = John Cheney?

common. google both slang and profanity. lets see if you can learn the difference

Dick-Dick John-John

Fuck-Fuck You-You

Good Dog! Is there an Echo in here? (Echo in here?)

Politicians(sorry) are human, they get mad.
So do you and I.
Because they are public (pubic?)* servants doesn't mean they are different.

Actually, yes it does, especially in a Presidential candidate.
Someone who has insufficient control of their temper and faculties to not swear in public does not have the temperment necessary to lead.

What if instead of Sen. Cornyn, McCain had flown off the handle at the leader of say, Pakistan?
A loss of control at a point of critical diplomacy is how wars get started.

If McCain can't control his temper in a simple immigration meeting, how is he going to react when the bullets are flying?

And there's also the matter that if I'd told a coworker to fuck off, I'd be looking for a new job right now. Why the double standard for a US Senator, who is supposed to be held to a higher standard?

"Actually, yes it does, especially in a Presidential candidate.
Someone who has insufficient control of their temper and faculties to not swear in public does not have the temperament necessary to lead."

In this train of thinking,I am reminded of the time "The Shrub" was (I think) talking away from cameras and microphones. It turned out that in speaking to PM Blair(?), he uttered the magic word.

Well!!!

He is an elected (? first time) official. I think by your way of thinking, NORM, he should have been removed from his office of President. I don't know if he would abdicate his royal Kingship.

If I might extend your thoughts with my own....

Since both His Royal Majesty "Shrub the First" and the "Clown Prince The Dick" (AKA Pretender to the Throne) obviously swear. And as they both qualify as POS. Then they should both be removed from office. Then tried as war criminals. As well as just big AH"s.

I like it a lot!!!

His hot-headed temperment and his support for the essentially treasonous Bush/Cheney Amnesty bill are both very solid reasons to oppose John McCain's Presidential candidacy. I wonder if he'll win ANY primaries, other than presumably Arizona's, next year? I wouldn't bet on it.

Sad?

Excuse Me? In the words of McCain himself "FUCK YOU".

A ex-sailor in his late 60's is hardly comparable to a 10 year old. Nice try.

Interesting, VERY Intersting.

Seems ANY defense of McCain is going to get somebody labeled as a conservative. I've never voted republican and hardly plan to start given what I've seen of the debates but I find it funny that so many are so upset with him swearing.

p.s. Fuck You.

common. google both slang and profanity. lets see if you can learn the difference

Let me ask you all something.

The word FUCK is so offensive why?

It doesn't negatively impact any one race, religion, or belief yet so many here act as though his using it is indicative of a man who can't control him temper. Had McCain gone over to the man and punched him in the face, then I might be able to agree, but this was simply a 'naughty word'. Grow up.

Gee Common...if "fuck you" is nothing more than a slang for procreation...by your own definition.... you should have no problem with a 10 year old saying it.

So...you see something wrong with a 10 year old using that language??

I have a problem with a man who wants to represent this country using it when in discussions about this country with his fellow politicians.

It shows a lack of respect and decency.

I'm entitled to my opinion, as you are yours.

What a stupid fucking issue. It just shows how bankrupt the political process is when some people try to make an issue about some adult politician swearing. If anything, this just proves McCain is human, something I was beginning to doubt.

p.s. Fuck everybody who disagrees with me.

This is why we need former Sen.Fred D Thompson. The right man in the right place at the right time.

BILL:

I agree with you.

As long as they're cussing each other behind closed doors, who cares.

I'm sure McCain has had the same hurled at him a number of times.

Politicians aren't nice people. If the walls had ears, swearing would probably be the least of our worries.

I still wouldn't vote for him but it won't be because he swears.

Later that day, McCain missed his 43rd straight vote, this on the $2.9 trillion budget outline.

Where are all the tighty righties to make this an issue like they did with Kerry in 2004?

That's what I thought.

Hypocrites.

Yep, exactly. You can't curse when you are asleep.

JIMMY

. . . like they did with Kerry in 2004?

That's exactly what I was thinking.

well just when mccain is out he puts himslef right back in with me...

now remember that cornyn is my senator and I will vote for him in 08.....
DEPENDING on his vote on the "invade the us and steal as much tax money as you can" bill before the senate.........

mccain/ fiengold sucked and then he said that he would support victory even if it meant he lost the election.....
and then he lost me with his support of the "INvade the us and steal as much tax money as you can" bill......and now he comes right back with passion and fire even if it was a little misplaced......I still think we would be better served if congress went about it a little more like parliment does when I watch on cspan.....there, you have no doubt where your representative stands........

Gee Common...if "fuck you" is nothing more than a slang for procreation...by your own definition.... you should have no problem with a 10 year old saying it.

Allow me to get just as ridiculous with a comparison.

If it's just procreation, then you see nothing wrong with a 10 year old doing it? See? Sounds stupid doesn't it?

Am I wrong in saying that it is slang for procreation? Am I? I don't care how offended you are by the word, I'm talking about what the word really is. Tell me I'm wrong (with your explanation please)

BTW, no, I don't want to hear FUCK from 10 year olds just like I don't want to hear "crap", "heck" or "dumb ass" but we're talking about adults here. Try to focus.

Ya know, usually you make some sense, but I have to wonder, is it just because McCain said it? If Hillary or Obama said it tomorrow, would you have to find a new candidate?

We are so hypocritical in this country. So what he curses!

In reality, our views on sex and our supposed religious beliefs are fair-weather at best.

common take it up with the supreme court or the FCC. However, I am certain that you dont and wont get it

What are you talking about?

I'm not trying to garner accptance for the word, I'm just trying to get you candy asses to realize that you're in a tailspin over this for no reason.

Once again, grow up.

.......the F word associated with McCain is FAILURE.........

.......he sold out his convictions a long time ago in his quest to be El Presidentay......

........an empty suit..........

Oh how we forget.

projects.washingtonpost.com

"If Hillary or Obama said it tomorrow, would you have to find a new candidate?"

Of course not.

In that case, the person they said it to would be "getting what they deserved." It would be "about time someone said what needed to be said." That's how things work around here.

Also, If you have no intention of voting for McCain, what do you care how many votes he missed?

Who f-ing cares?!?! I friend of mine was a staffer for McCain and apparently this isn't unusual. FOR ANY SENATOR!!

If i had to deal with those childish pricks on a daily basis, i'd be throwing around f-bombs like it was my job.

Please, dems, don't use this as evidence he's lost it. This is so damn petty. Concentrate on the big picture and keep the arguments intellectually honest--even if they don't (or didn't).

""Please, dems, don't use this as evidence he's lost it.""

Not me. Personally, I don't think he has "lost" it but then I never thought he really "had" it in the first place.
He hold opinions that I disagree with but I do think he is one of the few who honestly does say what he means. I wouldn't vote for him but I do respect him more than any of Bushco or the other main Republican candidates.

"Fuck you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room,"

I wonder what his handle is on The Retort.

Who cares...how could I possibly hold someone to a higher standard than I when it comes to cursing?

I'd argue dropping the f-bomb more often, especially on the right people, would actually help him. As americans we all should know that in some situations in life in dealing with others... F-You, is the only reasonable response. And I tend to believe Americans responde well to tough sorts of characters. And throwing the big fu here and there would help that. Particuarly if he could then follow up with articulation on it.

I'd argue he'd do alot better saying FU to folks, than cornholing the religious right.
