Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Barack Obama, caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech Tuesday, drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died. The death toll was 12. "this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a speech to 500 people.

I guess the same Conspiracy nuts who think that Bush saw the 1st plane fly into the building (and therefore was in on the planning) after getting "caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech" and embellishing his 9/11 tale for dramatic effect will now say of this Obama speech that:

1) Obama "slipped" and told the truth, that 10,000 people really did die in Kansas. And that the official government lie that there is only 12 dead is part of an elaborate conspiracy by the governemnt to coverup all the deaths...probably not even from a tornando but some WMD experiment gone awry.

2) If Obama can't tell the difference between 10,000 people and 12 people he is unfit to be President

3) If Obama "lies" so readily to score cheap political points, then he is unfit to be President.

"A younger version of the Chimp?"

Can't be.

Obama corrected himself right away.

Bush never does that. ;^)

Be Well.

Maybe he was referring to the 10,000 who would not be able to donate to his Campaign due to the disaster.

I can see why Obama associated the number 10,000 with the state of Kansas. Kansas is the state were people believe that the Earth, like the state, flat and is 10,0000 years old.

Nappy Headed Ho!!

What a dipshit.

Aint no Muslim gonna be president anyhow!

Um...he's not a Muslim.
But that is the sort of non-informed retoric that will prevent him from winning.

Barack Obama, caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech Tuesday, drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died.

Democrats overstate something for political reasons???

Never!

Obama is not nearly polisihed enough to win the primary
he is just not ready yet

hillary will win the primary
as i said before, her numbers will only go up

Now if Gulliani does not win the republican primary, then hillary will become president.
nobdoy in that field can beat her, deffinitly no John Mcain, who i think is guillianis closest competitor

but is there any more info on the school he was supposed to have attended.....and just reading it here wont quite cut it for proof..

here is my main problem with him...besides being a dem who owns defeat in the war on terror.

I dont think you could convince me that he would be called black if he werent running for something....I mean....his mother is white.....so why isnt he called bi-racial? again...not trying to be confrontational.....but why does the media and he call him black when it seems that it is a 50 50 thing........

and of course it is surprising that this is even here.....when bush mispeaks its because he is a stupid hick and dunce....but when 'golden boy' says something like this....its just a little 'boo boo'

I dont think you could convince me that he would be called black if he werent running for something....I mean....his mother is white.....so why isnt he called bi-racial? again...not trying to be confrontational.....but why does the media and he call him black when it seems that it is a 50 50 thing........

What would you have them call him? Grey? Do you somehow think it would be better for us all, if we thought of him as a white guy? Does it even matter? And if so how? When your bi-racial you go with whatever race is working for you best. And I gotta think him trying to explain himself to the country as a white guy would be a bit of a stretch.

yeah I get that....but you also say that he says he is black because he is running....isnt that what you mean when you say whatever is working for you best.
call him grey.......no , I dont think so....and I guess you could ask tiger the same thing......why does he call himself black when his mother is something else?
of course if you putt as good as he does, what difference does that make?

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
m

yes thats me thinking and yes..every now and then.

main comment is prejudices media.....read the line at the top
"caught up in the fervor".....again if its bush its because he is stupid......and what was that about a nonbiased media?

BL2-
That was I think one of the first posts of yours that actually got me thinking -- why do we as a society consider Obama "black"? My theory ties in with Knighthawk's point: we can't accept a "white" person who isn't entirely "white," but we're okay accepting a "black" person who isn't entirely "black." What was it with the Jim Crow laws? If you were as little as 1/16 black, you were still considered "black"? When we talk about race in black and white...er...polarized terms, we're stick with things like this.

Anyway, regarding your defense of Dubya's errors...if Obama begins doing things like this on a regular basis, you'll have a point. I'd chalk this up to a flub that shows he's still maybe working on his training wheels. To me, not a big deal; primaries are still months away, to say nothing of the race itself. To say that it's some nefarious scheme by Democrats to raise campaign money or sympathy votes or anything else is just ridiculous.

"again if its bush its because he is stupid.."

Glad to see you're finally catching on!

Every one of his posts gets me thinking. I think "Good Lord, Bushlover is a dork!"

oops...see, even smart people make mistakes... (just kidding)

Obama corrected what he said shortly afterwards.

The guy said he was tired and made a verbal mistake. I believe him. Cut him some slack.

Ok time for some fun!

See if you can guess who said the following!

I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well.

"Natural gas is hemispheric. I like to call it hemispheric in nature because it is a product that we can find in our neighborhoods."

I could go on all night...

Let me get this straight the Koolaide gang is going to call someone for an error?

What is the bet Chimpy couldn't find Kansas on a map.

And, if not, that's just the way it goes." -George W. Bush

Was he looking down at the time?

LMAO!

Keep going Donner!

It blows my mind that Bush supporters have the nerve to question one remark made by Obama, when Bush has said soooo many stupid things!

When one has a poor or too conveniant of a memory, nerves or "balls" are not required.

I dont think you could convince me that he would be called black if he werent running for something..

Yea, I bet in the 40's in the South, no one would consider him black.

..I mean....his mother is white.....so why isnt he called bi-racial? again...

Just when you think you're really smart and clever, read yourself in a thread like this one. Should teach you not to take yourselves too seriously!

This room reminds me not to think outloud too much on a message board because we make ourselves look like idiots!

As to Obama, I'd rather have a president that makes HIS kind of gaffes than the ones our current Embarrassment makes. Did you see the dirty look the Queen gave him, after he winked at her, and then likened her to his mother?

I'm surprised he didnt' rub her shoulders. This president we have is the kid George and Barbara should have kept locked up in the SHED!

Larry

I'd rather have Quayle as VP than Cheney.

Obama was given the wrong information---he would know that the true number would be easily found so there was no reason to exaggerate anything so easily discovered--there would be nothing to gain and everything to lose when the harpies close in on every misstep..

It's not like he said he was personally there and counted the bodies or that he personally saw the first airplane fly into the WTC--and said it twice. Not the same thing at all.

This is a non-story.

He made a mistake.

He realized it.

He corrected it.

It's time to move on.

Do you really think he really meant to say 10,000 and thought that he wouldn't be questioned?

The number is SO FAR OFF that it's obvious it was a blunder.

Speaking of flubbed numbers, wasn't it the faux-cowboy that began to say the queen had last visited in 1776?

Just out of curiosity, what posts are you referring to? So far, only a couple of righties have shown up, and none of us said anything about Obama's mistake. In fact, Bowa and JJ were downright charitable, compared to the treatment W has gotten on the thread.

Ah well. You probably just assumed we were all making fun of him, because that's just what you would have done, were the shoe on the other foot.

BL2,

Perhaps the 10,000 actually refers to what we quaintly call "Bushisms" that Smirky has uttered?

Since the score is now about 10,000 to 1, Obama has a lot of Obamaisms to go to catch up with our current talking hand puppet, don't you think?

"Obamaisms"

Nah.... "O-bombs".

You heard it here first!

Spudsy,
Re: your question on how I view the 2008 Presidential field....

For the most part, dimly. No real standouts, for sure, unless you are looking for specimens to place in your caveman exhibit at the local Natural History museum. In that case Brownback, Huckabee and Tancredo will be perfect for it.
Fruity Rudy is a joke. The only question if he were elected President would be, what color ball gown and wig would he wear to his Inaugural Ball?

In the Republican field about the only one that has any credence for me is Tommy Thompson and he has NO hope of being nominated.

So since the Republicans have no hope of winning the Presidency, I have to look to the Democratic candidates to see who would make the best President.

The list there is pretty short. If Gore decides to run, it would allow the Republicans to win, assuming they nominate a competent candidate.

Personally, I think the best candidate would be Richardson, but he can't get nominated.

So that means my second choice, Hillary.

I predict the Dem ticket will be Hillary for President and Obama as VP.

It would be an unbeatable ticket because Obama will bring in the youth vote to offset those who dislike Hillary.

On the Rep side I see perhaps Fred Thompson and Condi as the ticket and if not Fred then Romney, who is unelectable as President because he offends the Born-again base as much or more than McCain does.

There is an outside chance of Gingrich but I don't believe he is electable either, plus I don't think he will run because he knows the Reps can't win with Iraq War raging along and GWB won't stop the war no matter how much it destroys the Republican Party.

Look for a loss of 10 or 15 more House seats and as many as 4-5 Senate seats in 2008.

That is the bleak outlook for the Republican Party. The only bright spot for us is that we will be rid of Smirky the Chimp finally!

I truly hope that the reps keep one of the two houses...I do not want to see total party control of our govt EVER again. The dems would take longer to sscrew things up than the reps did, but absolute power corrupts absoultely.

Some more Bushisms:

We share a vision of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and insecurity.

By the way, to whom much is given, much is owed.

It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way.

I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

The woman who knew that I had dyslexia - I never interviewed her.

I think we agree, the past is over.

I come from a different generation from my Dad.

Laura and I really don't realize how bright our children is sometimes until we get an objective analysis.

I was raised in the West. The west of Texas. It's pretty close to California. In more ways than Washington, D.C., is close to California.

I will say to countries in the Middle East, don't you dare hold us hostile.

I understand small business growth. I was one.

The Senator has got understand if he's going to have -- he can't have it both ways. He can't take the high horse and then claim the low road.

Will the highways on the Internet become more few?

What I am against is quotas. I am against hard quotas, they basically delineate based upon whatever. However they delineate, quotas, I think vulcanize society. So I don't know how that fits into what everybody else is saying, their relative positions, but that's my position.

If the terriers and bariffs are torn down, this economy will grow.

It's no exaggeration to say the undecideds could go one way or another.

A tax cut is really one of the anecdotes to coming out of an economic illness.

I mean, there needs to be a wholesale effort against racial profiling, which is illiterate children.

I think we ought to raise the age at which juveniles can have a gun.

Actually, extremists of all political stripes will grasp onto anything to smear anyone that diagrees with their views of the world.

The same people who defend Obama over this, will not even blink about smearing President Bush in the most vile ways possible.

Funny reading all the Bush deflections. Can't Obamdada stand on his own record. Well, I guess not since he hasn't done anything.

As opposed to Bushie whose only accomplishments are ruining an oil business in Texas and having bim Ladens family bail him out---Stealing private land under Eminent Domain for his private business of the Texas Rangers who he was working for because of his daddys name---then governor of Texas with the lowest education rates in the nation and who's only accomplishement while in office was signing a law that allows them to pull the plug on infants whose parents are too poor to pay expenses.

btw when are they going to start using the Obama Nation nickname? You'd have thunk they would have been all over that!

Halfrican?

Irregardless he misunderestimated it. ;)

Your apologies for Obama's mistake is "Yeah, but look what Bush did!". You sound like a 6 year old.

I knew that I would get to you sooner or later slickster!

The point, in case you haven't got it yet, Obama misspoke and immediately corrected himself (something we do here all the time!)...

Bush has mispoken thousands of times and rarely, if ever, corrects himself and what he says is freakin HALARIOUS and tragic at the same time!

hee! hee! hee!

say uncle ...you have to say uncle before I stop now slickster!

because--

I'm the commander - see, I don't need to explain - I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being President.

Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people and neither do we.

This foreign policy stuff is a little frustrating.

We cannot let terrorists and rogue nations hold this nation hostile or hold our allies hostile

We're concerned about AIDS inside our White House - make no mistake about it.

Will the highways on the Internet become more few?

Do you have blacks, too? (To Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso)

This is a world that is much more uncertain than the past. In the past we were certain, we were certain it was us versus the Russians in the past. We were certain, and therefore we had huge nuclear arsenals aimed at each other to keep the peace. That's what we were certain of ... You see, even though it's an uncertain world, we're certain of some things.

I think we agree, the past is over.

And there's no doubt in my mind, not one doubt in my mind, that we will fail.

Willylicker crawl back under whatever it was you rose from and STFU.

Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. -- May 1, 2003

RFLOL... Donnerboy. Those are hilarious. And you almost filled the entire recent entries on the front page.

Bush the Original American Idiot

If you don't stand for something you don't stand for anything!

I can't help it there are so many!

"I'm honored to be here with the eternal general of the United States, mi amigo Alberto Gonzales." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 4, 2007

"Information is moving -- you know, nightly news is one way, of course, but it's also moving through the blogosphere and through the Internets." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., May 2, 2007

"And so, what Gen. Petraeus is saying, some early signs, still dangerous, but give me -- give my chance a plan to work." --George W. Bush, in an interview with Charlie Rose, April 24, 2007

"There are jobs Americans aren't doing. ... If you've got a chicken factory, a chicken-plucking factory, or whatever you call them, you know what I'm talking about." --George W. Bush. Tipp City, Ohio, April 19, 2007

"There are some similarities, of course (between Iraq and Vietnam). Death is terrible." --George W. Bush, Tipp City, Ohio, April 19, 2007

"And there is distrust in Washington. I am surprised, frankly, at the amount of distrust that exists in this town. And I'm sorry it's the case, and I'll work hard to try to elevate it." --George W. Bush, interview on National Public Radio, Jan. 29, 2007

"I said I was looking for a book to read, Laura said you ought to try Camus. I also read three Shakespeares. ... I've got a eck-a-lec-tic reading list." --George W. Bush, interview with NBC's Brian Williams, New Orleans, La., Aug. 29, 200

"I also read three Shakespeares..."

I'll bet he counts sonnets.

The only play he knows is that one about that Eye-talian love triangle with Mio, Juliet, and Ro.

apparently he said in the year 200 lol

that would be -Aug. 29, 2006

That's why I am the only one who considers Tiger Woods the world's greatest Asian golfer.

I call him Tiger Woo....

Being that Obama is a presidential candidate,he should have all the accurate information available to him before he says anything, simply because the things that he says do define who he is and how he thinks.Sure things can be misspoken but he is in a position where these mistakes should not be made;simply because he appears to be a very well spoken man,and I am sure that he is very well prepared.Having said that,I think that it was a politically motivated statement meant to make the Bush administration look bad.

grupnmilitary --

You believe that Obama is and intelligent man AND you really believe that he would overstate the casualties by 10,000 on purpose to make Bush look bad knowing full well that he was lying and that he would be found out but would say it anyway?

Come on I can make Bush look bad with five minutes on the Internet... it is SOOOOO frickin EZ to make Bush look bad why would he resort to such a dumb thing?

here let me show you again!

"And truth of the matter is, a lot of reports in Washington are never read by anybody. To show you how important this one is, I read it, and our guest read it."--speaking along with Prime Minister Tony Blair about the Baker-Hamilton Report, Washington, D.C., Dec. 7, 2006

"The only thing I know about Slovakia is what I learned first-hand from your foreign minister, who came to Texas."--To a Slovak journalist as quoted by Knight Ridder News Service, June 22, 1999. Bush's meeting was with Janez Drnovsek, the prime minister of Slovenia.

see?

Since when it's the Presidents duty to clean up and recover after a twister? Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is the one who is suppose to be in charge of this operation, and she failed...Kansas was ill prepared...All the Feds are suppose to do is write the check, and the state conducts the rest.

I guess the Dems want to blame Bush for everything to gain votes...If a major hurricane hits the Gulf, watch the Dems blame Bush for the hurricane...and then later on the relief effort.

All of the posts from DonnerBoy are Bush deflections away from Obama's blunder. You still sound like a six year old. Why can't your man stand on anything other than the color of his skin? The reason is he has accomplished nothing in his political career. He has done NOTHING at the state or national level. But he does have nappy hair. Is that what matters to you DonnerBoy?

Why can't your man stand on anything other than the color of his skin?

During the next campaign speech, he'll screw up and start telling everyone he's white.

SLICKSTERWILLY

You are a mullethead and hyprcrite of the first degree for accusing DONNER of deflecting.

Tons of your posts have Bill Clinton in them, although he's been out of office for 6 years.

YOU are the 'Deflection King' with a mullet for a crown.

It still amazes me to see people like WISgoo and willylicker that are so enamored with puffing Bush's pole that they can't pull off long enough to realize what a diseased scum they've hitched their wagons to. Brainwashed by the Lush Rimshot talking points no doubt. I'm surprised that Bushblowerdeaux hasn't shown up for your little circle jerk.

Well dumb-ass (AKA Reagan58), this post was about your boy, not Bush. But being the broken record that you and the left are, carry on.

I fully intend to "carry on". I'll be supporting Dems in every way that I can.

You're Gonna Hate '08.

Your "I Hate Bush" bullshit isn't going to help....he's not running. Term limits, ya know.

I'm a littel shocked this threead has lasted this long. Whe I posted it, I did so to show how wacko extrmeists of all political stripes are -- in that they wilol focus on any slip of the tongue, contradiction, hyperbole, or gaffe of any kind and use it to destroy a person's character in the most heinous and vile ways imaginable.

Obviously, Obama just got caught up in the moment -- and he wanted to throw as many blame bombs at Bush as he could -- and he went way too far -- ridiculously so.

All politicians do it. In fact, I guess all people do it at some point -- telling "fish stories" that may be short on truth but have a lot more impact.

Anyway, be prepared to see the same pattern repeated over and over again -- the Press is out to play "Gotcha" and dig up as much dirt as they can on the candidates, report every gaffe, report every rumor and accusation -- and whatever sticks will be used to batter the candidate over and over again until they lose and drop out (like Howard dean) or they somehow weather the storm and succeed.

Yeah, keep spinning the talking points. Of course HE'S not running but the longer he keeps running the country, the constitution and the economy into the ground he's the anchor that every single Republican has around their neck. So yes, every time I beat some rethug with it publicly(and not just on this blogsite)it has an influence. I'll keep expounding and encouraging those of like minds to me to do the same.

"I'm a littel shocked ..."

Speaking of shocked, BowWow:

I am still waiting on that post you claimed I made:

"After all, it was you who said the other day that WW2 changed everything, even the orbits of the planets. So should I post that over and over again to show how much of a "liar" you are for stating that?"

And...
You did only said that WW2 changed the orbits of the earth and the moon and not the planets.

Wouldn't want anyone to think you're a liar, BowWow.

I know it's difficult to hear because you've got the Renamblican anthem playing so loudly on your 8-track player but this IS a left leaning blogsite.

No shit? That's why you all sound like you like a moveon.org mouthpiece.

Well I can't speak for everyone else but, SO?

I'm a dues paying member of the ACLU, and I subscribe to Moveon.org publications. I've marched in DC rallies to end the war and I'm firmly of the belief that the Solomon Amendment and the Selective Service should start drafting again. The difference between me and you is that my opinions were formed prior to Bush's election and I can think independently of the orgs. that you lambast. People like you and willylicker are simpletons that espouse only what The Bush Crime Family pushes out to you.

Well Regan58, I'm glad you know me so well. Not sure how you do, but you on the left own the magical crystal ball. And you Libs have hindsight mastered as well.

Oh, and Reagan58, I forgot to give you a "High Five" for name calling. WISgoo and willylicker; that's as classy as it gets.

Thank you. I thought it rather clever myself.

"...but you on the left own the magical crystal ball..."

Make it a pair and we'll call it even.

And don't forget the ladies, laddy:

"Women have balls...they're just higher up, that's all."
Joan Jett

obama is just another empty suit, a puppet.

he got that misinformation from bushscum.

So yes, every time I beat some rethug with it publicly(and not just on this blogsite)it has an influence. I'll keep expounding and encouraging those of like minds to me to do the same.

Actually, you are mostly preaching to the choir here -- so your posts have little influence at all.

I suggest you go on townhall.com or freerepublic.com where your anti-Bush diatribes will be in the minority view and therefore have an opportunity for greater impact.

I can assure you, that any of here on drudge.com who do not share your contempt and hatred for Bush, have heard all the angry "retorts" on Bush numerous times -- ad nauseum in most cases.

from my point of view, they just confirm my belief that there is no difference between extremeists on the right and left -- they are both intolerant bullies who seek to demean and dehumanize those they disagree with and have little interest in tryiong to understand anyone's position other then their own.

I took some valuable lessons from Karl Rove, Bowa.

This is one of only a few outlets that I use to share my beliefs and thoughts. The person most embarrassed is mi esposa who's often quite appalled that I talk over and batter others with my views. But Bush, his cronies and family are a danger to the Constitution and I feel there's nothing that I say that's not necessary to make the sheep that don't read, listen or educate themselves understand the danger to our way of life.

Don't sell yourself short. I bet their are many more who are embarrased to be around you.

From your point of view perhaps you're tired of making excuses for those who've taken your faith and goodwill and pissed it away for enriching their cronies and forcing an activist foreign policy that has our military at the point of breaking.

I do not personally demean anyone, instead I demean the positions and policies which undermine both the security and objectives of this nation going back 250 years. The positions of the Bushies haven't changed since the Iraq War started. This is the major problem: the rest of the world HAS changed and Bush refuses to alter his tragic course while too many like yourself refuse to stand up to him because he's yet to be right about a single thing since this has started! You don't achieve the proper results by doing the improper thing. This is Bush 43's legacy in a nutshell and it has nothing to do with hatred or demeaning. It has everything to do with incompetence, arrogance and hubris....

Slickster,

you are a true American Idiot right there with the best of them. Read my posts carefully, I never defended Obama.

I said he mispoke and corrected himself.

I am not even sure I like him though he is WAY more intelligent then Bush could ever dream of being. Personally, I believe that will be his undoing... We don't elect Pesidents because of their intelligence (obviously).

I just thought I would take this opportunity to have a little fun...

rather than make stupid attacks on me why didn't you take the opportunity to highlight Obama's gaffes so far in this campaign? Because you are blinded by your own hatred of those that would question our Dear Leader and his competence to lead this Nation.

Here let me start you out with an Obama Gaffe: hmmm I can't find anything near as stupid as the Bushism's but here try this

Marking the anniversary of the March 1965 "Bloody Sunday" in Selma, Ala., Obama, speaking at a church, said his parents got together "because of what happened in Selma." Obama was born in 1961.

now you try it ... go ahead it's fun!

OBAMA

Anyone wondering why this issue (actually it's a none issue - the man made a mistake which he was MAN enough to correct) has caused such a stir? Repubs afraid? Because of his heritage? Double standards for black and white? Double standards for Dems and Repubs? A little soul searching is required here I believe.

Excuse me, but he clearly misoverestimated the number of deaths.
