Demand a recount - either hanging chads or compromised conputer systems!

"...compromised conputer systems!

I certainly would look into that MSGT.

"conputer "

the fractal infinity is just fucking overwhelming

Damn I wish Mandelbrot posted here.

Oh well...........

Unrelated to platform issues, I like how Sarkozy won even in light of Royal's claims that it would lead to imminent violence:

news.yahoo.com

Hopefully the similar claims of some of the repubs (that if dems win the election, a terrorist attack would be imminent) will go unheeded over here.

MSGT is demand!...

"Demand a recount - either hanging chads or compromised conputer systems!"

Actually, Spud don't think they hang chads in France.

They use a gullotine or sommat.

Spud thought he read that somewhere.

Wot kinda relationship will we see develop between the already pissed off Muslim of France and the new "get tough on muslims" mandated conservatives of monsewer Sarkozy?

Prolly anything but "kozy".

Just a hunch.

Be Well.

I think he won fairly.
Hope he won't be the new boy in the real Axis of Evil (Bush, Blair or whoever, Olmert)

Righties will now choke on their freedom fries and go nuts trying to explain a rightwing surrender monkey. Of course, they have Nixon and De Gaulle to fall back on.

I predicted this win on here 2 weeks ago. no big surprise.

It would be nice if Americans would get out and have an 86% turnout on voting day like the French just did.

Amen CHRIS

OUR elections should be 2 day affairs - Saturday and Sunday

Having them on Tuesday is ridiculous.

Sarkozy Wins French Presidency

Nuh-uh.

Not really.

'Cause, see, a "conservative" in Europe isn't really like a "conservative" here in this boorish piece of shit we all live in.

Uh huh.

Yeah.

Sarkozy is really a liberal---and he hates...hates the United States.

Good thing I'm here to tell you about all this, you stupid American with no passport.

Yeah.

Now go back to watching "American Idol", or something.

Sincerely,

The Left

Damn I wish Mandelbrot posted here.

You can only fit so many letter Q's in a series of decreasing size with this font.

Also, I don't think the code on this site supports axial rotation in 2 dimensions.

Overnight from cheese-eating, surrender monkeys to burger-munching, flag-waving, Bush supporting patriots. FOX will play it that way ignoring that conservatives in Europe are like pre-Reagan Republicans or modern-day Democrats here. France has not changed its opinion of Bush either. They are waiting for him to go away. Just like most in the rest of the world, 95% of Iraq, 0% of Al Qaeda and 60-70% of us.

I never quit eating French Fries in favor of "Freedom Fries" (Fascist Fries more likely). Even though Sarkozy is more pro-American, he said that friends can disagree on things and that the Iraq war was wrong.

After our own National Anthem, I have to say that La Marseillaise is probably the bset national anthem of any country. It is a bloody war song damn it!

The French want a change and even though a good many are certainly anti American, the majority are not no matter how loud the Left screams - just as they do here. The majority has spoken and apparently they want to see an end to the intifada they've had in the suburbs. I suspect we'll be seeing a few cars torched before some learn that it won't be tolerated anymore.

I believe there will be even more swings to the right throughout western Europe which is the reaction of those who see multi culturalism as the time bomb that needs to be reversed before its too late.

Congrats to France for taking a stand and rejecting anti Americanism

Just as long as it's not a socialist. They will just f'up that country even more.

Congrats to France for taking a stand and rejecting anti Americanism

This is beneath you, GZ. You're too intelligent to ascribe the French election to Americanism.

It would be fun to see a poll asking French voters if they thought about the US on their election day(s). I doubt it seriously.

Sarkozy won against weak(er) competition, same as here, same as practically everywhere in the developed world these days.

canada elects a conservative....now france, hmmm

Isn't it a bit narcisistic to believe that this guy's election turned on his stance toward the USA? I have a sister-in-law who has lived in France for the past 15 years and they have much larger problems. The socialism is eating the place alive. Opressive taxes, problems with the muslim sub-culture and employment to name a few. The French are waking up to realize that their version of socialism is not working. What concerns me is that because Bush has bungled the war, etc. We are headed down the path toward socialism. Not because that is what people want, but because they are so turned off by Bush and the Republicans. The democrats will ruin our country with higher taxes, open borders, socialized medicine, etc. Oh well, just like France, once people see where that is leading them the pendulum will swing back. I just hope it will not be too late.

BELLASPAPA,

In fact the election as all elections usually go was for most people about the French economy.

However beyond that issue is where the differences can be found.

In areas where there are large immigrant communities - according to today's International Herald Tribune:

"In areas with large foreign populations, like Aubervilliers, a suburb northeast of Paris where rioting erupted 18 months ago, the economy took a back seat to immigration for some voters.

"The changes I've seen in Aubervilliers are very, very bad," said Christine Poncet, 46, who runs a bakery there.

"The situation really has gone downhill. There are more and more foreigners and we just don't feel at home here any more. I'm not racist, but people living here should respect the country's laws or they should leave. The biggest problem we have here in France is being swamped by illegal immigrants Some people are so used to getting without giving and to taking without working. I think Nicolas Sarkozy understands this and knows what he's talking about."

But what I was referring to before was (also from the IHT)

"Since Sarkozy's trip to the United States last September, where he lavished praise on the country and was granted -- at his request -- a meeting and a photo opportunity with President George W. Bush, Sarkozy has sought to assure French voters that he will not bend to the will of the United States.

"Friendship is respect, understanding, affection but not submission," he said of the relationship he wants with the United States, adding: "I ask our American friends to let us be free, free to be their friends."

This photo op and positioning by Sarkozy was not lost on the French who saw Royal as the Sarkozy polar opposite taking the anti Bush position which the French Left universally embraces.

At first, most Europeans were able and willing to differentiate between Americans and Bush. However, after the Bush reelection, many Europeans began to perceive most Americans as being one in the same as their government. That's my own perception from traveling back and forth to Western and Eastern Europe over the last half decade. When Sarkozy buddied up to Bush during his last trip, he was making a very strong statement and that was courageous considering the very vocal and very vehemently anti American Left had made their feelings very well known ... the question was how many of them were there ? How many ordinary French shared that view ? Although anti Americanism is certainly a factor in Europe that those on the Left will surely exploit, it may not be as much a factor as some would like to make it into.

"The democrats will ruin our country with higher taxes, open borders, socialized medicine, etc."

Well the higher taxes are guaranteed at some point. The money was spent. Or, pissed away in Iraq if you prefer. The Democrats were complicite in the spending. But to blame them exclusively when the bill comes isn't very honest. The people in charge now refuse to even look into cases of war profiteering so you can't claim they care about the taxpayer's pockets. Well you can, but you'd be a fool.

It cracks me up when "conservatives" don't see the relationship between reckless spending/borrowing and an eventual tax increase.

After our own National Anthem, I have to say that La Marseillaise is probably the bset national anthem of any country. It is a bloody war song damn it!

well I disagree somwhat...while it is stirring there is none that comes close to the anthem of canada.....rich harmony and a wonderfull melody....the russian anthem is also in the mix because of its romantic era qualities...

SULLY ... I don't disagree with you. The spending of this administration borders on criminal (in a figurative sense). I just dissagree on how to fix the problem. I believe cutting back is a better idea than raising taxes. But you are right at some point we have to pay for this mess.

"I believe cutting back is a better idea than raising taxes. But you are right at some point we have to pay for this mess."

I'm not against cutting back. Cut the spending and it makes perfect sense to cut taxes.

I'm just against spending like crazy while claiming to "cut taxes". Taking out credit that the taxpayer is responsible for is a way to defer taxes, not to cut them. It isn't honest to pretend otherwise.

Anyway, seems like we agree.

At least Ms. Royal won't have to put up with Chimpy giving her a neck rub at the next G8 summit.

It is a bloody war song damn it!

Maybe if they spent less time singing and more time 'fighting the war', this page wouldn't exist.

www.albinoblacksheep.com

A liberal piece of shit onced asked what the difference was between Royal's "threat" of violence if the opposition won and Giuliani's.

Giuliani's didn't involve a prediction of his own constituency (those he reresents and speaks for) causing the violence.

Liberals. You gotta lov'em!

Although anti Americanism is certainly a factor in Europe that those on the Left will surely exploit, it may not be as much a factor as some would like to make it into.

Good post GZ, thanks. My point was that "Americanism", pro or contra, is not the big issue for the rest of the world that Americans like to believe it is. I live in and travel all around Yurrop.

Very few people really give a damn one way or the other and most aren't really interested in or terribly knowledgeble of American politics. Well, much more so than, for example, the average American is interested in or knowledgable of "foreign" politics, but nonetheless, the number of Europeans who would cast a vote for a candidate based on his or her cozying up to or decrying the USA, be it the American public or the president, is negligible.

That was my point. Someone else called it "narcissistic" which is pretty astute.

Ici nous allons encore!

C'mon rightists, pretend you LOVE France now. You know you ALMOST want to.

I swear I heard Bill O'Reilly say that he loves the French. Always has, Always will.

"C'mon rightists, pretend you LOVE France now. "

Just relieved to see they are not as niave as I had once thought.

ah yes another in a long line of a typical response from bill oreilly......notice the attention to detail and the accurate facts followed by discussion and ....well its just another example of a brilliant mind at work.....

WOW.............

and of course those crazy french.....with the results of the election there have been riots and car burning.....400 I believe is the number I heard......and all from the left side....WOW....thats not a stretch now is it.....because even here when there is a protest from the left...the police and private business has to always be ready for violence and destruction of private property too..........funny how that works isnt it.......... maybe the pundits are right......the right is too busy working and dont have the time to steal and break other people's shit........

It's actually kinda neat this guy got voted in. People call him a 'righty' but he seems to favour elimination of rhetoric and making decisions based on pragmatism. What a grand idea, I wish that would happen over here sometime.

the right is too busy working and dont have the time to steal and break other people's shit........

Posted by bushlovertwo at 2007-05-08 08:12 AM

That irony of that statement if funny.

How much did Enron steal? How much shit has Bush broken in Iraq? Lol, righties don't steal or break peoples shit, actually they seem to do it on a grander scale, they are serious about it!

"the right is too busy working and dont have the time to steal and break other people's shit"

Ummmm....how many hours in a day do you work??

I believe you fit in an hour here and there inbetween your miniture golf lessons and your races.

but lisa.....I 'aint' out breaking shit and burning cars and personal property either and all in the name of some supposedly liberal idea
and of course I guess the notion of "retirement" is beyond your liberal mind......or is ..........that green monster called ......jealousy.....

ah yes...thats the ticket.....I mean it all makes sense.....I am retired and live in the great....almost soveriegn...state of texas......and it just makes you crazy with jealousy.........I get it now and I 'understand'........(giggle giggle)

and of course the comment still stands.......leftist socialist in america or france.....its all the same shit.....she called his plan to put the country back to work........"
BRUTAL" ......and she wanted to increase the minimum wage for the same work and he wanted to increase pay AND WORK TIME......

what a wonderfull 'world view' of the difference between leftist and the right.

"I am retired and live in the great....almost soveriegn...state of texas......and it just makes you crazy with jealousy."

I hardly think anybody is jealous of your life.

and perhaps the most important and TELLING point of this whole thing..

AS RUSH So expertly put it yesterday.....this proves that the leftists and their lapdogs...the media have been lying to us all the time.....that everyone in the world doesnt hate us because of bush.....and here is at least some small proof of the claim that the world hates us is a lie...

with now almost 90 percent of ALL VOTERS in the ENTIRE country of france.....the candidate who vowed to return to closer ties to the U.S......has won by a substantial margin..........and rush is absolutely RIGHT ON TARGET with this charge.....at least in that part of the world WHERE EVERYONE IS SUIPPOSED TO HATE US..........

thank you french voters for proving that the MANY ON THE left are liars and exaggerators and con artists when it comes to george bush............

Bushlover:

Trust me: There is nothing...and I do mean NOTHING about Texas that makes me crazy or jealous. It's a God awful state...second only to OK. I am thankful that I have what I have.

I live in a truly beautiful state. With real down to earth people...people who know how to drive, I might add.

You can keep Texas. The only things I love about Texas are my brother, sister-in-law and my nieces and nephew who live there.

"AS RUSH So expertly put it yesterday"

LMAO

Once again, you prove me right!

Don't you get tired of spewing words that end up getting shoved back in your face?!

LOL

BLT I doubt his views of America got him elected,It was his promise of jobs. You are wrong about everything aren't you?

"I am retired and live in the great....almost soveriegn...state of texas......and it just makes you crazy with jealousy."

I hardly think anybody is jealous of your life.

well maybe they should be.......raised by wonderfull parents......an appreciation for beauty in the universe.....a caring person whose friends will tell you will give you anything you need if you need it......one damned fine lover......TWO HOLES IN ONE........kicked ass on the derby..........appreciate things like the amazing and stark beauty of the most beautiful sight in the world.....that of a pregant woman.....
and all with the soft and smooth butt that would make a baby proud..

shit man....what else could anyone want?????

seriously though...........the media has been taken aback by this election....will it be some earth shattering change in the world....probably not....but you have to admit it was surprising with what the media tells us over and over again about france and how they view us.

and also.....how I do love to get all of you sumbitch libs all worked up in the morning......hee hee

byrd.......isnt that what I said......he told them that he wanted to put them back to work and she just wanted the status quo and give them more money........if you didnt think I meant that, then please do...thats what I mean....more jobs and more hours.......he also proposed that they not have to pay taxes on overtime.....think that might make some headway here......I doubt it.......
and all the time he said it over and over....he would strengthen ties with us.....and bush.......and you probably know the SUBSTANTIAL margin of victory........

lisa........keep on protesting.....THAT makes my day........

have a good one.

"lisa........keep on protesting"

Protesting what??

I hate Texas. Big deal. That's not protesting....that's honesty.

And I'm not in the least bit jealous of your life, honey. I've got a damn good one right now. Beautiful, healthy kids, the love of a damn good man, wonderful friends....nothing for me to be jealous about. I have everything that is important in life.

And I don't believe you had one hole in one much less two.....unless you're talking about the seat of your pants!

lol

Hope your day was a good one, my dear friend!
