Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, in last night's GOP presidential debate, was asked by an audience member how many soldiers have been killed or injured in Iraq. His answer, "There's been over 3,000 that have been lost and several thousand that have been injured," fell far short of the Pentagon's count of wounded troops: 24,548.

It was a sad night for the Republican party and to have that take place in front of Nancy Reagan. What must she have thought?

BTW - I like the disclaimer that appears on the blog this links to:

"By posting a comment, you affirm that you are 13 years of age or older."

I'd encourage RCade to institute such a policy, but it would eliminate many of the 'con posters and cut down significantly on traffic here.

"What must she have thought?"

Oh, Ronnie, you could make so little sound like so much. In this crowd, darling, you'd be an Oscar winner! Oh, there's no business like show business...Like no buisness I know...For chrissakes, let's get on with the bloody show!

I didn't watch last night's debates, nor did I watch the Democratic debates last week. It's too early for that. They need to weed out the idiots first.

(Of course, by weeding out the idiots, I know that at least one party is going to nominate the biggest idiot of the pack. Maybe both of them will, who knows.)

I am certain nancy was right at home. She saw no talent acting which she is very familiar with

Oh you poor pathetic Repugs. Your American Idol is none other than Ronald McReagan. His "up-with-America" no matter what the reality started the downward trend the fruits of which we are now seeing.

He did have the sense to choose his war carefully ensuring that he and the military would be sure to get that win. It still took the greatest forces on earth several days to root out those 50 pesky Cuban workers from Granada.

We will need to do a lot better if we are going to have any chance of preserving the American Way of death.

Thompson was asked by the moderator: "If a private employer finds homosexuality immoral, should he be allowed to fire a gay worker?"

The former Wisconsin governor answered: "I think that is left up to the individual business. I really sincerely believe that that is an issue that business people have got to make their own determination as to whether or not they should be." The moderator appeared a bit startled: "OK, so the answer is yes?" Thompson replied, "Yes." In a telephone interview from O'Hare Airport, Thompson told "American Morning" that he "misinterpreted" the question and should have asked to have it repeated.

"That's never been my position," Thompson said, said adding that discrimination isn't acceptable.

But, is beastiality grounds for termination?

Or, sex with a robot? That is the real question. We would finally find a way to get rid of Bush Boy.

Robert Byrd Received a 100% positive rating from the NAACP.

Dumbass.

naacp is more political than practical

Newjasman---So is the senate.

Tickles the whey out of me that the GOPers
dredge up Byrd and T.Kennedy... like it's current news!

Buffalo_Bob
but are they tax exempt
jasman

Newjasman--When the senate gets a 100% satisfactory rating from the NAACP, let me know.

I'll support the NAACP paying taxes as soon as churches start paying taxes.

Thank god the VA hospita;ls weren't under HHS and Thonpson, because they'd be so fucked up.
Oh wait, it didn't matter, Bush stil managed to fuck them up AND pay huge bonuses to the idiots who did it.

With Bush, failure is not an option; it's standard equipment.

Thompson was Sec of Health when an Afghani/American OBGYN went, at his own expense, to serve at the "Laura Bush OBGYN Hospital' in Afghanistan.

The conditions the doctor found were agregious.

Rats, mold, broken plumbing, lack of basic medical supplies such as sutures, clamps, and other essentials. Several women died during his stay because of this situation.

After writing numerous letters to Tommy Thompson requesting a few thousand dollars worth of these urgently need supplies, he received a 'thank you for your service' letter from Thompson, and then quit in disgust.

The 'Laura Bush OBGYN Hospital has since been closed, and the nearest OBGYN is now hundreds of miles away - too far for most to travel, especially on dangerous Taliban controlled roads.

Robert Byrd Received a 100% positive rating from the NAACP.
Which shows the NAACP to be the "nappy headed" gold diggers most people beleive them to be.

Are you kidding me? This is considered a "gaffe?" He said "several thousand" and the answer was 24,548. That sounds like "several thousand" to me. Or is there some other term he was supposed to use if he didn't know the exact number? Two dozen thousand?

"Debate Gaffe: Tommy Thompson Undercounts Casualties"

Let's face it, they don't give a shit. Cannon fodder for the politicians.

By the way, slicksterWilly, the definition of "several" is generally construed to mean around 3 or slightly more:

1. being more than two but fewer than many in number or kind.
2. Being of a number more than two or three but not many

Buffalo_Bob
i ain't sayin naacp should pay taxes all i'm sayin to be tax exempt accordin to law you should not be envoled in politics
jasman

lol!

Sick Willy can only get "Offensive" in the face of facts.

I caught that the minute the words left his mouth. I wonder how some Iraq vet missing two legs, one arm and half his jaw feels being left out of Tommy's casualty list.

Rats, mold, broken plumbing, lack of basic medical supplies such as sutures, clamps, and other essentials

Was that at the hospital or in Laura Bush's gynecologiac region?

Even the Def Dept underreported casualties until they were called to the carpet.

He was also asked the question last night "Do you think it is OK to fire someone based on sexual orientation". He responded "yes". Today he comes out and says he misinterpreted the question and really meant to say no.

Let us not forgot he is the same guy that said Jews make the best bankers.

Good candidate for the GOP.

but would he fix things?

OK, what really scared ME about the field of 'candidates' last night was this question: "Raise your hand if you do NOT believe in evolution". About half of those idiots standing up on that stage raised their hands. THAT scares me. But what scares me even more is that no one is talking about THAT today! Who gives a rat's a** what idiotic Tommy Thompson thinks or even IF Tommy Thompson thinks (which is probably a more valid question in light of his current problem with comprehension)? About half of those men standing there last night said they do not believe in evolution!

If he undercounted, must been a dumbacrat counting

I didn't realize robert byrd was one of the reps at that debate last night, JJD1187.

I mean, otherwise bringing him up would be a stupid deflection from a partisan idiot child.

That sounds like "several thousand" to me.

Joe Joe Joe...*sigh*

several thousand = 2-3 thousand

10s of thousands might have been more accurate.

closing in on 25,000 would have been honest and truthful.

All rights come from the government. The purpose of the existence of the NAACP is to secure the rights of minorities. This is NECESSARILY political.

Churches on the other hand have absolutely NO REASON to be political. Churches were not DESIGNED to be political bodies--they were CREATED to worship GOD.

Churches should absolutely pay taxes for straying from the reason for their existence.

The NAACP was founded as a POLITICAL organization to protect their members from the LAWS OF MAN and is acting in accordance with the principles of its creation, and has nothing to do with religion.

Try comparing apples to apples.

About half the republicans don't believe in evolution.

I wonder how many think disease is caused by evil spirits.

I wonder how many think the world is flat.

I wonder how many believe in the End of Days like Bushie, and think its just around the corner.

I wonder how many think babies are gifts from God instead of the product of sexual intercourse.

I wonder how many would force women to give birth to unwanted fetuses.

I wonder how many would appoint religious nuts to the USSC like gay Bushie or his pedophile daddy did.

well to be honest im not sure about evolution for one reason.....where are the mistakes?....evolution says that the good survive while the not so good dont survive so where are the evolutionary mistakes? there should be at least one fossil record of an evolutionary mistake shouldnt there? otherwise one has to admit that this so called evolution was perfect and that brings up a whole new line of thought,,,,

Cheka

Evolution does not say the good survive.

You should study what evolution does say before you talk about it.

Evolution is just a theory and a poorly constructed one at that. There is proof of natural selection but not evolution.

In order for their to be proof of evolution there must also be evidence of Transmigration of Species. Their has never been nor will their ever be one example of transmigration of species dug up.

For those of you who believe in evolution answer these questions.

What was the very first life form?
How did it know how to procreate?
How did know how to consume energy?
Why would it not just die shortly after springing to life?

Evolution is a fact.
Deal with it.

"Today evolution is the foundation of all biology, so basic and all-pervasive that scientists sometimes take its importance for granted. At some level every discovery in biology and medicine rests on it, in much the same way that all terrestrial vertebrates can trace their ancestry back to the first bold fishes to explore land. Each year, researchers worldwide discover enough extraordinary findings tied to evolutionary thinking to fill a book many times as thick as all of Darwin's works put together. This year's volume might start with a proposed rearrangement of the microbes at the base of the tree of life and end with the discovery of 190-million-year-old dinosaur embryos."

Science has proof without any certainty. Creationists have certainty without any proof. [Ashley Montagu]

To answer your questions:

What was the very first life form?

One-celled organisms, possibly extraterrestrial or product of right time/climate/circumstances scenario that we'll better understand after a few decades more of SCIENCE.

How did it know how to procreate?

Embedded into genetic code, just like diatoms (which still exist today)

How did know how to consume energy?

You have to to exist. It's called entropy.

Why would it not just die shortly after springing to life?

"Short" is relative. 50 billion years may be short in the lifetime of a universe. Therefore, the question is moot.

Now some questions for you:

Why do you believe the last half of this:
www.youtube.com
and at the same time laugh in the face of any other theory?
Do you have even one iota of proof that doesn't involve pointing out the lack of proof of evolution as a basis for creatonism?
How do you explain that until the 1500's, the church treated anyone who disagreed with their geocentric model of the universe as heretics and sentenced them to death because it was a "fact" that the earth was the center of the universe (bible and all)?

"What was the very first life form?"

I give up.
What was it?

Evolution is a FACT--not a theory. The THEORY part comes in as to HOW evolution happens---not that it happens.

www.talkorigins.org

"and a poorly constructed one at that"

Like Quantum Mechanics?

Let me give you a tiny hint.
Make the world a better place.

If you have children, kill them, then kill everyone you know, then kill yourself.

Wait.
Don't bother.
Evolution will kill you.

Tax the Churches. Tax the property that belongs to churches -- Frank Zappa

Theory is a generally accepted "fact" whom the details explaining and describing that fact (observable phenomenon).

When most Idiots say "it just a theory" they are equating theory with hypothesis.

You never hear them say "Atomic theory" is just a theory...Chemists would laugh them into humiliation.

You never hear them say "Gene-Chromosome theory" is just a theory and yet it is more of a damaging theory because it gives molecular explanation for evolution.

Religion retards science all throughout history. Politicians have always and will always bent to the will of the snake-handling bible thumper to girl stoning rock throwers in ME.

Sorry too many thoughts going and forgot to finish sentence. I meant.....

Theory is a generally accepted "fact" whom the details explaining and describing that fact (observable phenomenon) may change with new or better details emerging as science improves with new advances
