While shallow philosphers rant over "white-guilt" to explain failure in Iraq, let's consider how pissing away so many billions like this has affected things.

My immediate KBR supervisor was making 25,000 a month for sitting on his ass being drunk most of the time, imagine that.

Anyone who still has ANY questions about how f**** up the government is under the Shrub mis-administration has only to watch Shrub's latest performance at the Tippicanoe high school on Friday. Cheney must be hiding under a desk sucking his thumb and trying to figure out who to shoot next...probably the idiot who decided it was fine for Shrub to go off script and take UNscripted questions from the audience. The man can barely string two words together coherently! And THIS is the leader of the Free World?! Even God can't help us now.

Mission Accomplished!!!

Bush isn't the leader of the free world.

These individuals however.....are:

cocaine is an evil mistress, destroying synapses. Long term affects are now being seen.

I, for one, feel better about posting here during work.

This is why Cheney and Bush do not want to bring our troops home yet --
they haven't finished their total looting of the U.S. Treasury.

NO WAY did Cheney and Cheney not know about this and the theft going on. Cheney is still to this day getting deferred compensation.

Can ANYBODY, seriously, explain to me why the Bush and Cheney still sit in office?

HOW MUCH PROOF DO WE NEED THEY BOTH ARE WAR CRIMINALS AND THIEVES????

mistake: take out the word "the" in the second to last sentence.

correction: now take out one of the Cheney's in the 3rd to the last sentence in my 12:30 post.. i need coffee. i'll leave now.

Cocaine's primary effect is to destroy the pre-frontal cortex which is where the conscience develops. Researchers at Washington University in St Louis made that connection in the late 80's.

Alcohol has a more general effect on the brain.

Put the two together and you have an illogical sociopath.

I'm still waiting for BLT and the Robhole to come tells us why this sort of things is just and patriotic. I need to understand why only "shrill liberals" would take offense to this.

well when is making a profit ok? obviously not during wartime....but its ok at other times?

mebbe if we didnt put burger kings and baskin robbins in baghdad for our troops the cost would be less?

Yeah. That's the ticket. No Burger Kings. But then again, all of the mercenaries we hire at $30,000 per month would have nothing to spend their money on.

zed you jerk that service is provided gratis for our troops at taxpayer expense...now im all for the best for our troops but please..burger king and baskin robbins?

Masters of War

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

-Bob Dylan

The Great Compromise

I knew a girl who was almost a lady
She had a way with all the men in her life
Every inch of her blossomed in beauty
And she was born on the fourth of July
Well she lived in an aluminum house trailer
And she worked in a juke box saloon
And she spent all the money I give her
Just to see the old man in the moon

I used to sleep at the foot of Old Glory
And awake in the dawn's early light
But much to my surprise
When I opened my eyes
I was a victim of the great compromise

Well we'd go out on Saturday evenings
To the drive-in on Route 41
And it was there that I first suspected
That she was doin' what she'd already done
She said "Johnny won't you get me some popcorn"
And she knew I had to walk pretty far
And as soon as I passed through the moonlight
She hopped into a foreign sports car

Well you know I could have beat up that fellow
But it was her that had hopped into his car
Many times I'd fought to protect her
But this time she was goin' too far
Now some folks they call me a coward
'Cause I left her at the drive-in that night
But I'd druther have names thrown at me
Than to fight for a thing that ain't right

Now she writes all the fellows love letters
Saying "Greetings, come and see me real soon"
And they go and line up in the barroom
And spend the night in that sick woman's room
But sometimes I get awful lonesome
And I wish she was my girl instead
But she won't let me live with her
And she makes me live in my head

-John Prine

It's not the Marine or soldier standing in 115 degree heat while he eats a Burger King or tries to cool off with a dish of ice cream that's getting the benefit or the money from our U.S. Treasury. Bush could care less about what happens to our troops.

Bush, again, gives the lucrative war contracts to his U.S. corporation donors -- in this case the ones who own Burger King and Baskin-Robbins. Those food places are not there for the benefit and morale of our troops, they are there for corporate profit only.

If there was no corporate $$$$$ to be made, Bush would have our troops eating kubba, masgouf, tripe, and flat bread washed down with a glass of water from the Tigres River.

"well when is making a profit ok?"

Well if ripping off the taxpayers is just "making a profit" it just goes to show how corrupt modern corporate capitalism has become and what corporate shills conservatives are.

Helplessly hoping
Her harlequin hovers nearby
Awaiting a word
Gasping at glimpses
Of gentle true spirit
He runs, wishing he could fly
Only to trip at the sound of good-bye

Wordlessly watching
He waits by the window
And wonders
At the empty place inside
Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams
He worries
Did he hear a good-bye? Or even hello?

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other

Stand by the stairway
You'll see something
Certain to tell you confusion has its cost
Love isn't lying
It's loose in a lady who lingers
Saying she is lost
And choking on hello

They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other

- Stephen Stills

Then no objections if we fire those mercs and hire real soldiers, or at least use savings thus acquired to help real soldiers?

Most of the few true international corporations that used to be "American companies" are international now.

As such, they no longer deserve the legal citizenship, and more, that they have been granted by ( mostly by purchasing or writing their own laws ) nor should they receive the legal benefits of citizenship in this country.

Since the corporatists bottom line is financial, not patriotic or even moral, they no longer deserve the rights and protections of American Citizenship that they have enjoyed since the court decisions from the turn of the last century till now have given them.

Wow, this is shocking!! Just SHOCKING!!! I NEVER would have thought this was happening! NEVER!!

I mean our very own VP was CEO of Halliburton who owns KBR.
He would never have allowed this to happen, what with his salary being "defered" into an offshore account and all.

Still waiting? Still? That was your first post ever... how can you still be waiting for anything?

Why do people who are obviously current posters make new names and think that no one will notice?

RETHUG LOGIC:

schools, roads, healthcare, social safety net.....GOVERNMENT WASTING YOUR HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS

Billions spent on private contractors with no-bid contracts, overcharging the government and not delivering on promised services with no accountability....THAT'S SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS!

schools, roads, healthcare, social safety net.....GOVERNMENT WASTING YOUR HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS

Ah, yes, I do remember from the 2004 election all the talk about Roads and how we should be against them... it was a brilliant strategy by Karl Rove... Play on Americans general bigotry and fear of asphalt...

Maybe you should just drop the publi from your name...

If we get the whole $2 billion back that will pay for one more week in Iraq. So it's no big deal, really. Might as well let them keep it.

Future generations of Bushes and Cheneys will need every bit of money they can get so they can isolate themselves better from the future generations of we, the taxpayers. They are the ones who will be paying off the long-term debt incurred by this criminal fiasco while the Bush and Cheney spawn will be indulging themselves in other priorities..

Since the corporatists bottom line is financial, not patriotic or even moral, they no longer deserve the rights and protections of American Citizenship that they have enjoyed since the court decisions from the turn of the last century till now have given them.

Corporations under the Bush regime have only gotten stronger, with more arrogant, obscenely paid CEO's who no longer show any loyalty to their American employees nor to our country which allowed them to incorporate and flourish financially. CORKY is correct. These former "U.S. in name only" corporations are now all multi-national and should not qualify for U.S. protection (including military) in any shape or form. Multi-national U.S.-based corporations have been allowed way too much power within our government and over its politicians.

Definition of "Corporation":
(Latin corpus, a body)

A corporation is an association recognized by civil law and regarded in all ordinary transactions as an individual. It is an artificial person.

Chief Justice Marshall of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, in the course of a formal judicial utterance, thus defined the term corporation:

"A corporation is an artificial being, invisible, intangible, and existing only in contemplation of law

Being the mere creature of law, it possesses only those properties which the charter of its creation confers upon it, either expressly or as incidental to its very existence. These are such as are supposed best calculated to effect the object for which it was created.

Among the most important are immortality, and, if the expression may be allowed, individuality; properties by which a perpetual succession of many persons are considered as the same, and may act as a single individual. They enable a corporation to manage its own affairs, and to hold property without the perplexing intricacies, the hazardous and endless necessity of perpetual conveyances for the purpose of transmitting it from hand to hand. It is chiefly for the purpose of clothing bodies of men, in succession, with qualities and capacities, that corporations were invented, and are in use.

By these means, a perpetual succession of individuals are capable of acting for the promotion of the particular object, like one immortal being."

Rob the Wob speaks!...

"Why do people who are obviously current posters make new names and think that no one will notice?"

Maybe Nigel is a "first time caller/ long time listener" kinda thing.

Ever think of that?

Ever think at all?

Speaking of "notice"...

Spud notices that you and yer evil co-hort Cheeks have very little to say fer yer team here.

Ckeeks is reduced to complaining that maybe these missing billions were diverted into burgers and ice-cream cones.

And wot do we get from Wobbo?

"Play on Americans general bigotry and fear of asphalt..."

American infrastructure is in serious need of some dough and the BushCo boys is aiding and abetting the corporate theft of yer money (needed in that regard) and that's the best you can come up with?

Spud knows that yer being an apologist for evil must be getting pretty tuff by now but seriously ya gotta come up with some better material than that.

On Topic?

Impeach.

PPS: War Profiteering is a HUGE sin.

There was a time when folk got shot as traitors fer this kinda thing.

"There was a time when folk got shot as traitors fer this kinda thing."

Yea, but that was probably before we started taxing unemployment at higher rates than dividends.

YEAH!

"Freedom aint Free"!

Now give me my tax cut!

Sincerely

The Fake Plastic "conservatives"

"Yea, but that was probably before we started taxing unemployment at higher rates than dividends"

At the federal level, and at least in CA, unemployment compensation and dividends are taxed at the same income tax rate.

Why would you think unemployement taxed higher than dividends? It could be the state you live in, but I don't know.

Aw come on, it was only a measly 2 billion. To this administration that's chicken feed....for the chicken plucking factory.

'The Fake Plastic "conservatives"'

Redneckville, do you consider all conservatives "Fake Plastic?" Are there any real conservatives, or is there no such thing? If there are real conservatives, where are they? I know there are none here because I've witnessed you call everyone of them "Fake Plastic" in the past.

Forgot this one. If there are no real conservatives, what are the "Fake Plastic conservatives" really? Philosophically and ideologically speaking?

Political World

We live in a political world,
Love don't have any place.
We're living in times where men commit crimes
And crime don't have a face

We live in a political world,
Icicles hanging down,
Wedding bells ring and angels sing,
clouds cover up the ground.

We live in a political world,
Wisdom is thrown into jail,
It rots in a cell, is misguided as hell
Leaving no one to pick up a trail.

We live in a political world
Where mercy walks the plank,
Life is in mirrors, death disappears
Up the steps into the nearest bank.

We live in a political world
Where courage is a thing of the past
Houses are haunted, children are unwanted
The next day could be your last.

We live in a political world.
The one we can see and can feel
But there's no one to check, it's all a stacked deck,
We all know for sure that it's real.

We live in a political world
In the cities of lonesome fear,
Little by little you turn in the middle
But you're never why you're here.

We live in a political world
Under the microscope,
You can travel anywhere and hang yourself there
You always got more than enough rope.

We live in a political world
Turning and a'thrashing about,
As soon as you're awake, you're trained to take
What looks like the easy way out.

We live in a political world
Where peace is not welcome at all,
It's turned away from the door to wander some more
Or put up against the wall.

We live in apolitical world
Everything is hers or his,
Climb into the frame and shout God's name
But you're never sure what it is.

Spud is, as I think any objective observer would attest, much brighter, more analytic, politically knowledgeable, clever and entertaining, than you, Rob.

Such is life.

I have said this more than a few times but it seems to be in order again.

The leader of the free world "The Shrub" followed very, very, very closely by a very "rigid" (minded?) "Dick". Seem to have put the appropriate thinking parts together. As a result, we the people are also getting "It" in an uncomfortable place. (for most of us)

When these two put their thinking parts together the people of, not just the US suffer but the entire world. This is just 2 billion for only one corporation. As time goes on, additional mass misuse of funds are sure to become public. Can we sit back an enjoy the circus? Did you not see the price of you ticket?

It is time that the people who caused this show to go on pay for their fair share of the debacle.

Indite

Impeach

And the final (impossible to get)

An apology

It will not bring back the huge number of dead, both ours and all others. And it will not probably be made in any sincerity. This duo haven't done wrong in their eyes so why apologize? What about Great Briton, Australia, Iraq and so many others that in Iraq, Afghanistan and many others? They, in many cases, entered into an alliance led by the US based on lies. It will take a lot of good new leadership in our country before the world can look upon us as a good influence in the world.

Life goes on (for most). This will pass and with some good fortune we will take a place in world leadership that is looked on by all men as good and proper.

And its not just because you're a fruit... it's more to do with you're a canadian, and I could really give a shit about your opinion of America and its leaders...

How's tax reform?

Sorry, we must of been overcharged!

You think this crap began with the Bush administration??? I KNOW you don't like him, and neither do I. But, get real. This has been going on for AT LEAST fifty years that I know of first hand. I went into the navy in 1957 and after retirement worked a while for a defense contractor. SO...during the administrations of Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, (especially Johnson) Nixon, Ford, Carter and Reagan I saw the same thing from MANY contractors. The waste and the graft is horrible. It's what happens when the GOVERNMENT (regardless of which administration is in the White House) is running the show. Take a look at Katrina. Look at the Medicare system. Look at welfare, the education system...whatever the government is managing. And SOME folks want the GOVERNMENT to take over EVERYTHING. Lord help us.

Over charged by 2 billion?

Well, we'll just have to what Bush does with all his criminal cronies. Let them keep the cash, but fine them 25 million, then give them a 25 million dollar bonus for not fucking something else up, just like we did for the 25 million dollar overcharge by Halliburton for the troops meals.

Looting our treasury during a war like this is an egregious crime. You would think the Bushco flag waivers would be foaming at the mouth to not only jail but possibly execute any and all involved on any level. That the Bushies hardly give this issue any notice at all speaks volumes about where their heart really lies.
