Wasn't the Pope against the invasion of Iraq to begin with? Luckily, we only need to listen to him when it's convenient for us.

Apparently God's Rottweiler is ignoring the positive news coming out of Iraq. Just this week a school in Hilla received a fresh coat of paint and the raw sewage is now only ankle deep in Sadr City as opposed to being knee deep last summer.

The Pope calls Iraq a soup sandwich and McCain back peddles on his statement that everything is going wonderful in Iraq. I wonder if there is a connection?

McCain is balancing a delicate position A. That the war in Iraq is worth continuing B. that the president mishandled the war So he has to say basically that things are going poorly but at the same time saying that things are getting better. But in the end he has a better chance dying before the election that actually winning the election....

Spuds gonna hang around until some reichwing nutbar shows up and calls the Pope a "islamic appeaser" here. Prolly only a matter of time. Spud thinks the Cathlic Church to be very wrong headed on some very serious issues but here Pope Benedict XVI speaks nothing but the truth. No good can come from occupying Iraq. The longer the occupation lasts the worse it's gonna get. Coming on the heels of the Popes promotion of the ideal of Charity as espoused by the parable of the Good Samaritan, this anti-war decrial now makes Spud look at this guy more seriously. When he's right, he's right. And he is right here. Deth the athiest/ recovering Catholic Spud is wish the new Pope an excellent Easter weekend. Be Well.

Maybe the pope should go to Iraq and get in-between the Shiites and Sunnis, and have them bow to his idol's and then ask them for money so he can forgive them! Peace david
