I'm surprised that the righties aren't celebrating the sunni jihadists using poison gas. Maybe that's because the sunnis are being bankrolled by Bush and the saudi royals?

Subsequently, some of those conspirators, once again with the financial support and help of the Saudis (and probably the Israelis and the Brits), began running a similar operation, aimed at avoiding congressional scrutiny or public accountability of any sort, out of Vice President Cheney's office. They dipped into "black pools of money," possibly stolen from the billions of Iraqi oil dollars that have never been accounted for since the American occupation began.

Some of these funds, as well as Saudi ones, were evidently funneled through the embattled, Sunni-dominated Lebanese government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora to the sort of Sunni jihadi groups ("some sympathetic to al-Qaeda") whose members might normally fear ending up in Guantanamo and to a group, or groups, associated with the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood.

Perhaps Rogers can start an ancillary daily thread called the Daily Delusioner where we can repost all the lies and misrepresentations coming from the rightwing talking points. It would make it easier to debunk them all at the same time, in one place instead of dealing with them over and over again as the lemmings shit their daily spew on the other threads, inhibiting decent debate for the continued yo-yoing of disinformation posted as fact.

Ok, well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where the Sunni's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern.

(Sigh)

300,000 in 300,000,000 is mathematically equal to 1 in 10,000.

1 in a hundred = 1.0%
1 in a thousand = 0.1%
1 in ten thousand = 0.01%

The problem is not Vern's calculator, it's Vern.

Great article Dave.

"Will Bush's totalitarian Military Tribunal now execute Mohammed on the basis of his confession extracted by torture, or would this be seen everywhere on earth as nothing but an act of murder? "

Everywhere on earth except fer among the few remaining BushCo stooges and apologists, a group growing smaller by the hour here, thank goodness.

Sad thing here is that Kahlid the Booty Sheiker really is one bad mutha fucka.

He IS responsible fer a number of terrorist crimes but because Dickless and his torture happy crew encouraged him to continue confessing to things he couldn't have done, they have, as the article sez, "over-played their hand", and now, we'll prolly never know wot he really did and did not do.

Bushco, ever truths enemy.

Torturing a man into confessing to some heinous crime and then killing him based on that information is not American.

It is Orwellian.
It is fascistics.
It is wrong.

Now throw in the uncounted numbers of innocent folk sold to overly naive US forces as "terrorists" who haff been tortured into confessing fer crimes they had no part in and you begin to see why Spudis always quick to point out that America's legitimacy in the eyes of the world has done nothing but decrease because of this illegal, immoral and completely useless mass violation of human rights.

First class tickets home for everybody...no round trips.

Does anyone really believe all this "confession" silliness?

Its so ridiculous that I haven't bothered to post about it until now. Its as though the Bushies, seeing attacks from all sides, and the now oath-proven fact that their political machinations resulted in the destruction of a CIA intelligence asset and her network trying to find WMDs in Iran and Iraq, decided, "What the hell, we have nothing else to lose!" and trotted out a storyline Baghdad Bob would be hard-pressed to conjure up himself!

"Shake-Shake-Shake did EVERYTHING in the world! HE IS al qaeda and we've got him!" The only problem is all the other terrorist activity that has occurred since the Shake's been in US custody, but they hope no one notices that!

Since KSM confessed to plotting just about every terrorist attack in the last 20 years, we can now call off the war on terror because he da man!!!

The FBI notified 1800 police agencies yesterday that it's possible terrorists are trying to get jobs as bus drivers...

I hope the driver they fired for saying "sheethead" isn't replaced with a terrorist...

In the meantime Wal-Mart was notified to be on the lookout for abnormal amounts of towels and sheets...

Wrong, Data, but nice try. You're counting on the fact that most Liberals don't know arithmetic and will just take your word for it.

300000/300000000 = 0.001

anybody can paste those numbers into the online calculator and get the same result.

www.math.com

"You're counting on the fact that most Liberals don't know arithmetic and will just take your word for it.

"300000/300000000 = 0.001"

Correct.

And 0.001 * 100 = 0.1%, of the US population, not "...0.001% of the U.S. population.":

300,000,000 * 0.1% = 300,000

300,000,000 * 0.001% = 3,000

vernon, you probably should have just let this one rest. vernon math, strikes again.

Hans

Now, tell us again, vernon, about how "Liberals don't know arithmetic"?

Hans

Vern's good with that math.

Hey, vernon... it has been almost an hour now since you claimed that "Liberals don't know arithmetic".

Some of us are still awaiting the reasoning behind your "'conservative' arithmetic."

***SERIOUS NEWS ALERT FOR DOG AND CAT OWNERS RE BAD FOOD SOLD***

Just heard about this huge and potentially deadly pet food recall on the tv news which they said may affect up to 60 million dogs and cats so I came on to put up this link given out on the report.

"MenuFoods" is doing a huge recall of it's "Cut and Gravy" dog and cat foods sold at a number of stores -- Kroegers, etc. -- under many different names. They said this food could KILL your dog or cat.

Click on the link below and then check out the list of all the brand names of dog and cat food when you get on the website. If you have any of those brands that you have bought since December 2006 thru March -- THROW IT AWAY.

If you have already given it to your dog or cat and they have gotten sick but you didn't know why, this might explain it. Pass the news on to your family and friends who might have bought this stuff.

Here is the link:

www.menufoods.com">LINK TO "MENUFOODS" - LIST OF ALL DOG AND CAT FOOD("CUTS AND GRAVY") BRANDS THAT SHOULD BE THROWN OUT.

messed up my above link but it still works : just click on the words "www.menufoods.com" in my post above and it will take you to the website.

Menufoods' press release made this recall sound like it might not be so serious but the news reporter made it sound a lot more important -- and deadly. Guess Menufoods is being careful in what they say in case they are looking at any litigation in the future over this.

Here's a news report about my 7:63 p.m. post:

Pet Deaths Prompt Recall of Pet Food

WASHINGTON -- A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths.

An unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure and about 10 died after eating the affected pet food, Menu Foods said in announcing the North American recall. Product testing has not revealed a link explaining the reported cases of illness and death, the company said.

"At this juncture, we're not 100 percent sure what's happened," said Paul Henderson, the company's president and chief executive officer. However, the recalled products were made using wheat gluten purchased from a new supplier, since dropped for another source, spokeswoman Sarah Tuite said. Wheat gluten is a source of protein.

The recall covers the company's "cuts and gravy" style food, which consists of chunks of meat in gravy, sold in cans and small foil pouches between Dec. 3 and March 6 throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The pet food was sold by stores operated by the Kroger Company, Safeway Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and PetSmart Inc., among others, Henderson said.

Menu Foods did not immediately provide a full list of brand names and lot numbers covered by the recall, saying they would be posted on its Web site --
www.menufoods.com -- early Saturday. Consumers with questions can call (866) 463-6738.

The company said it manufacturers for 17 of the top 20 North American retailers. It is also a contract manufacturer for the top branded pet food companies, including Procter & Gamble Co.

P&G announced Friday the recall of specific 3 oz., 5.5 oz., 6 oz. and 13.2 oz. canned and 3 oz. and 5.3 oz. foil pouch cat and dog wet food products made by Menu Foods but sold under the Iams and Eukanuba brands. The recalled products bear the code dates of 6339 through 7073 followed by the plant code 4197, P&G said.

Menu Foods' three U.S. and one Canadian factory produce more than 1 billion containers of wet pet food a year. The recall covers pet food made at company plants in Emporia, Kan., and Pennsauken, N.J., Henderson said.

Henderson said the company received an undisclosed number of owner complaints of vomiting and kidney failure in dogs and cats after they had been fed its products. It has tested its products but not found a cause for the sickness.

"To date, the tests have not indicated any problems with the product," Henderson said.

The company alerted the Food and Drug Administration, which already has inspectors in one of the two plants, Henderson said. The FDA was working to nail down brand names covered by the recall, agency spokesman Mike Herndon said.

Menu Foods is majority owned by the Menu Foods Income Fund, based in Ontario, Canada.

Henderson said the recall would cost the company the Canadian equivalent of $26 million to $34 million.

Thanx to CChris fer that Dog and Cat food alert.

Spud just caught the story on CNN a l'il while back and was thinking of posting sommat but yer way ahead of the game.

They still don't know wots causing all the vomiting and deaths yet?

Hope that mystery gets cleared up pronto.

Hope this message gets out and there are no more deaths.

If this had happened to food intended fer humans Spud imagines the response would be a li'l more than a re-call.

You gave me my laugh of the night.
seriously, though, if you or anyone you know has a dog or cat who eats "wet" dog or cat food-- be sure and read my 8:00 p.m. post about all those contaminated dog and cat food cans. the link is in the post to get the list of the brand names of the food. 60 million animals can be affected with this killer food.

"Try it. Try flagging your most recent post "funny" and see if it works."

Wot? Has the blog-god installed some kinda code which prevents attention whores from flagging all their own posts?

I saw "300" last night. Fun movie. Very cartoonish.

It's like a comic book. The dialogue is aimed at 5th graders. the characters are one-dimensional. There is no "nuance.
The positive parallels to Bush and the war in Iraq, among other things, are easy to make. here's my breakdown.

Note: The parallels to current events are in ():

I thought it was obvious Leonidas was Bush. He is a commander who is betrayed by the oracles (the UN Security council) and must go to war without their full consent (a 2nd UN resolution to specifically use force) to do what he believes is right and save his country but with a much smaller army then he would have wanted to use (unilateral, without the support of france, Germany, Russia, or China). There are accusations by some of his fellow Spartans (The Democrats, the anti-war Left) that Leonidas brought the war on Sparta himself ("An unnecesary war" "Bush caused the US to be hated, Bush caused more terrorists to be created") when it is obvious that The Persians (Militant Islam), who force their conquered to kneel (convert to Sharia law) or die, had planned to invade Greece regardless of Leonidas's actions (Islamic extremists have been at war with the US for many decades already, Bush did not create their hatred and anger at America, he's only their "justification-du-jour" for it). The Spartan's in government, play politics, and refuse to send reinforcements (the democrats attempts to obstruct the way the war is fought) until a messenger returns to tell of the bravery of the 300 (the foresight of Bush to recognize the threat of Islamo-Fascism and respond) in facing a huge persian army (The Global war on Terror) . It is only then, that Leonidas is vindicated (Bush was right about the threat) and all of Greece (the West, the Forces of democracy) engage Xerces and his persian Army (Militant Islam) to preserve their way of life (Democracy).

aside from the Bush parallels, The commentary on social Liberals presented by showing Persians as immoral, depraved, materialistic liars and betrayers trying to destroy Democracy was not lost on me either.

Given all of the above, I can see why Democrats, liberals, and Muslims might be upset by the movie.

"I thought it was obvious Leonidas was Bush."

Oops:

...it is hard to equate 300 Spartans repelling an invasion of their homeland by a technologically and numerically superior force of Persians with the current Iraq War or any planned invasion of Iran. That is, unless you switch the metaphorical teams. The United States is clearly the superior, invading force in the Middle East.

And an even bigger Oops:

Leonidas personally leads his Spartans against Xerxes' forces and is able to succeed because of superior tactics and knowledge of the terrain. This has been the exact opposite of the current administration's handling of war. Insurgents have used their knowledge of the neighborhoods of Baghdad to their advantage, and are using asymmetrical warfare tactics with unfortunate success.

Where was the scene of Leonidas getting into the Laconian Air National Guard and avoiding combat?

Source (for both):
300: Homophobic Propaganda for Bush's Upcoming Invasion of Iran?

"Where was the scene of Leonidas (Bush) getting into the Laconian Air National Guard and avoiding combat?"

I can see why Republicans and conservatives might be upset by the movie.
