During a White House meeting last week, a group of governors asked President Bush and Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about their backup plan for Iraq. What would the administration do if its new strategy didn't work? The conclusion they took away, the governors later said, was that there is no Plan B.

Considering that Plan A was nothing to write home about, the fact that there is no Plan B should surprise no one.

There was a plan "A"?!?!?

This is just a breathtaking example of the incompetence and treachery that is the hallmark of this administration...

If Americans were more attune to what was happening right before their eyes they would call for impeachment and conviction of this criminal administration...

Stay the course.

There can be no plan B because plan A is to secure the oil rights for Corporate America and that is all that matters.

No, there's a plan B, it's just top secret.

Since the only reason Plan A didn't work is that that evil media won't report all the glowingly good news from Iraq, Plan B is to revoke that pesky Freedom of the Press nonsense and just have the Ministry of Truth provide the daily prop... er, I mean completely honest and accurate news briefings on how everything in Iraq is magic rainbows and sunshine and nothing bad ever happens.

Once Americans are no longer fed those vicious lies about civil war and bombings and death, the enemy will surrender and victory will be acheived.

Oh, and the Iraqi chocolate rations were just increased.

Is there at least a Plan 9 From Outer Space?

"The ultimate Plan B is pull everybody out," said Stephen D. Biddle, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and an adviser to the Defense Department. "Nobody wants to do that. Most are looking at the middle ground between surge and pullout."

The middle ground between surge and pullout would be what, exactly?

No hard-on?

Premature ejaculation?

Plan Z?

Clueless?

Six months?

Homer Simpson?

Is there at least a Plan 9 From Outer Space?

Yeah, send the Iraqi's cases of Cashmere sweaters.

Shavey, you mean angora, don't you?

Send Tor Johnson's corpse...

Clearly, the flowers and chocolates were plan A. No plan B necessary when you're lookin at a slam dunk. "3 weeks, a month, 6 months at most" That was all this chicken hawk cabal could envission. Thats the kind of planning that idiologues such as the Bushboys, none of whom ever got closer than the movie versions of war, figgured it would take to remake the middle east.
Arrogant? Niave? Dishonest? Third rate intellect? You can pick your own adjective. This was the biggest pig in a polk boondoggle I've seen in my lifetime and I'm old enough to have seen quite a few.

plan A - bomb Iraq into oblivion and steal their oil

plan B - bomb Iran into oblivion and steal their oil

plan C - bomb Venezuela into oblivion and steal their oil

plan D - bomb __________ (pick any major oil producing country of your choice) into oblivion and steal their oil

Angora!

"There's No Plan B"

YEAH!

Try that line with your investors and see how far you get!

MBA my ass!

My girlfriend still doesn't know why her sweaters are always stretched out.

Referee,

What country are you from? Canada? France?

I thought that Plan B was available over the counter now.

Pace sounds like the kid who was trying to hammer the square peg into the round hole all day and could never figure out the problem. If plan A was failure we have succeeded.

LastAmerican, seeing that your country's military record is actually tied with France I wouldn't speak too loudly or proudly.

Plan B is obviously to evacuate everyone from rooftops with helicopters - it worked in Vietnam, didn't it?

It's possible Bush would like to give Iraq an illusion of stability so as to pretend he hasn't expanded to a three-front war after he attacks Iran.

During the Indian wars, the Indians often frustrated US forces by simply refusing to give battle, going away to await more favorable circumstances.

Anyone notice how quiet Sadr City is? Think those kiddos disarmed or disbanded? Yeah, right.

Of course Sadr's milita has gotten the hell out out of Dodge -- for now. They will be back just as soon as our troops are sent on some trumped up diversion out of Sadr City to man other hot spots in Iraq. This is only a dog and pony show in Sadr City to make people think that U.S. troops are also willing to kill Shia Muslims even though the behind the door deal between Bush and the Iraq government is to wipe out and kill all those annoying Sunnis.

How do you think that production sharing agreement for the US to control 70% of Iraq's oil came into play. The US agreed to ethnic cleanse all the Sunnis in Iraq and in exchange the Shia would sign over the majority of control of Iraq's oil to Bush and Cheney's oilmen.

Last american, What will it take in real world terms for you to understand that FRANCE WAS RIGHT and YOU and Bush WERE FUCKING WRONG. It doesnt make one a bad American to admit the truth.Bush screwed the pooch on this and if you dont see that, you're as blind as Rumsfeld, Cheney, and the coke head you love.
Pull your head outta Bush's ass and see the smoke and American corpses.
Bush has killed more Americans than Ossama Been Forgotten.

FINALLY!! the Dems admit there was a Plan A.

Whiskey,

one of two things will happen. We will leave Iraq and the effort will be a failure or we will stay and it will be a success. A democracy will exist. It may 10 years, it may take 20.

FINALLY!! the Dems admit there was a Plan A.

A and a half: half-assed, that is. :-)

"I'm a Marine," Pace told them, "and Marines don't talk about failure. They talk about victory."

How quickly this guy forgets. Marines MUST talk of failure as emergency evac plans are usually part of a mission as well as some sort of "if it all goes to hell" contingency so we don't lose soldiers if it doesn't go accoring to plan A. While marines don't dwell on failure, they certainly must consider it when planning.

Where is the money for 20 years of occupation supposed to come from?

"It may 10 years, it may take 20."

Try 30.

You won't make it but you can try.

Be Well.

FINALLY!! the Dems admit there was a Plan A.

There has always been a plan.

The plan has been carried out too perfection.

It's a shame, you never understood what the plan was.

The only plan "A" was to break our backs while stuffing their own pockets. That is the only plan and it worked like a charm.

"Plan B was to make Plan A work."

Spud can't remember wot Plan A was agin.

Jimmy Wallback reminds Spud...

"There can be no plan B because plan A is to secure the oil rights for Corporate America and that is all that matters."

Ah yes, that was it. Thanx Jimmy!

Remember the 30 year sweetheart deal cut for Big Oil recently in Iraq that effectively freezes out national Iraqi oil interests as just another competitor?

Spud does!

Geez, no wonder they're building that embassy to last, eh?

Anybody wanna bet Spud that Plan A didn't involve American troops standing in harms way, serving as free security for Big Oil, until the oil runs out?

Nobody? Dang! You guys is smart!

Gal is be silly a li'l here...

"A and a half: half-assed, that is. :-)"

Agreed.

Half-assed.
Half-cocked.
Half baked.

...But, unfortunately FULL PRICE.

The lucky ones only pay an arm and a leg.

Be Well.

Most of the people on this thread think that Plan A was for Big Oil to make a profit.

Well, the Democrat Congress must be getting something out of it because they are letting it happen.

Not just Big Oil.

Well, the Democrat Congress must be getting something out of it because they are letting it happen.

Perhaps some of them are.

Where is the money for 20 years of occupation supposed to come from?

Remember how were to be repaid the cost of the war totally from Iraqi oil revenues? Gonna be hard since Cheney made 85% of Halliburtons foreign subsidiaries to avoid U.S. taxes while he was CEO.

You might want to give the Democrats more than 6 weeks. Bush has had four years to fuck this up so incredibly badly. Gonna take awhile longer than 6 weeks to turn it around. 'Flowers and Chocolates' and we'd have been out of there a couple of years ago, or 3 1/2 'tops' according to Runsfeld, who mocked or fired anyone who didn't agree with his rosy scenario - which didn't include 'post-invasion planning'. Well, for almost 4 years we've been in 'post invasion'.

Considering that Plan A was nothing to write home about, the fact that there is no Plan B should surprise no one.

I think that pretty much sums it up for me.

There is some much debate over trying to implement plan A, why ask such a question? The Dems have been discussing plan B all along which is a pullout...

wow, why is there so much hate for what this administration is doing, but not for the former admin that allowed all of this to happen, in afghanistan, iraq, sudan, north korea? in your eyes bush is handling this the wrong way and our military is incapable and incompetent of winning. is that why clinton did nothing on the above mentioned nations, is because he knew we as a nation and military did not have the will, might or perserverance to win against terrorism? not one lib i have ever talked to places one ounce of responsibility on the clinton adm for 9/11, its all bushes fault. north korea is all bushes fault......

"I'm a Marine," Pace told them, "and Marines don't talk about failure. They talk about victory."

Unfortunately, Marines also go when they are sent by their ill-advised commander in chief to a place where they should never have been, and where the distinction between failure and victory is impossible to define.

Scooter,
There is truth to your point that our relationship to the rest of the world was not formed in one administraion. On average, there isn't much difference between a Republican and a Democrat. Both are beholding to the same interests and agree to limit debate within certain bounds which always assume that the USA and Israeli policy are pure in heart, while those of our current enemies are evil. Thus we can and do produce the most weapons of mass destruction by a large margin but insist it is only for the good of mankind. No one challenges this assumption, or if they do (Chomsky) they are locked out of popular media.

But Clinton was a better President than Bush can ever hope to be. Clinton is capable of intelligent often charming speech. The Clinton administration committed far more resources against al Qaida. Sandy Berger warned Condaleeza Rice that al Qaida would occupy much of her time. But Rice ignored that threat in favor of a building a missile defense system, until the Towers came down. For this she was rewarded with the job of Secretary of Defense. Bush probably isn't as dumb as he sounds and Cheney and his Neocon friends have an agenda which they have successfully implemented. It is successful if you consider high energy prices, privatization of Government services and wreckless defense spending to be in our best interests. But if you consider our relationship with the rest of the world, the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan then there is a dimes worth of difference and the Neocon agenda is a complete failure. But only for you, not for them. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

There is no Plan A.

""wow, why is there so much hate for what this administration is doing, but not for the former admin that allowed all of this to happen, in afghanistan, iraq, sudan, north korea?""

Keep the Clinton deflection going, it makes you look desperate and actually is beginning to backfire because after six years of utter failure even the least knowledgeable laugh at you.

""not one lib i have ever talked to places one ounce of responsibility on the clinton adm for 9/11, its all bushes fault. north korea is all bushes fault......""

STILL trying to link 9-11 to Iraq, pathetic.

You need to contact RNC headquarters for new talking points, the old ones don't even impress Republicans any more.

I thought the Democrats had a plan. Thats what they ran on in the election. Where is it????? Anyone????

In other news.....

Well, here is Democrat controled Maryland everything is great.

Except for the 50% increase in the gas tax, that will be passed next week. Thats an extra $00.13 per gallon, per fucking fill up. Why do we need to raise the gas tax when we are paying Haliburton gas prices(Kerry '04 debates). I don't have a clue either. Democrats, all of them, ran on the ticket of lower gas prices. Well, prices are skyrocketing again. So what do the Dems do, tax us more...........I don't understand.

""I thought the Democrats had a plan. Thats what they ran on in the election. Where is it?????""

FORMERLIB has never heard of Biden or Murtha. No wonder he is a former lib, he doesn't read any more and is easily sucked into the vacuum of ignorance by right wing propagandists.
Just remember FORMER, repeating it over and over again doesn't really make it true, it just makes righties believe bull shit.

DANNI, what are their plans? Pull out? Is that the plan? If so, that is the plan for defeat, something the left is clamoring for anyway. How about a plan to win? Libs ever hear of that????

What exactly defines victory in Iraq? Is it the adoption of an American style democracy or could it be the adoption of a communist state? What about an Islamic theocracy?

Is victory defined by all of the residents getting clean water and more than two hours of electricity a day? Is it the elimination of ethnic violence? Is it the nationalization of the petroleum industry or it's privatization?

There can be no defeat in Iraq if you have no idea of what a victory is.
