Okay, pay attention because I'm getting carpal-tunnel syndrome from typing this over and over and over.

1) The attack and occupation of Iraq is illegal. The US withdrew it's application to the UN to use force against Iraq when France, Russia and China said they would veto it. While the supporters of this war often use UN Security Council Resolution 1441 as an excuse for the attack there was no resolution to use force against Iraq and Iraq had satisfied all the requirements of 1441. The US attack was because Iraq didn't own up to owning WMD's - which they didn't have at the time of 1441.

2) The occupying forces didn't secure the country, instead they secured the oil grid. Looting was widespread, weapons and explosive caches as well as antiquities went missing often while coalition troops watched.

3) Abu Ghraib. The name became cemented in the western world as a place of torture where people disappeared. When it passed into American control all that changed was the flag above the compound.

4) The shelling of the Palestine hotel. Two journalists were killed in the hotel, the hotel was a Baghdad landmark and one known to house the independent journalists working in Iraq. The tank reportedly adjusted it's aim for minutes before firing.

5) The bombing of the Al Jazeera offices in Baghdad. Another mistake from a military force that supposedly can read a newspaper over your shoulder form space.

6) The use of poison weapons. Depleted uranium doesn't use poison to kill the initial victims of these rounds but their radioactivity poses a serious risk to the civilian population.

7) Which leads me, sadly, to Fallujah, city of Mosques. The shooting of 19 civilians by US forces led to Sunni insurgents flowing into the region. The insurgents ambushed and brutally killed 4 armed contractors which, in turn, led to the "pacification" of the city. The attack led to the deaths of hundreds of civilians - many who could not or would not leave the city before the announced attack. The use of white phosphorous weapons has been said to have been used for illumination - perhaps the US armed forces should invest in some better night-vision equipment. I hear there's a bunch of old Soviet stuff for sale in the Ukraine.

8) Haditha, location of the massacre of 24 men, women and children by US marines who initially tried to cover-up the incident but relented and investigated the incident with two separate investigative bodies. This is said to be the worst violation of international law by US forces. It's pretty bad when they start talking in plural, isn't it?

truth...I just know that if it were you and I in that situation you would do anything or shoot back where the fire was coming from and if civilans get in the way because the enemy doesnt care if they get wasted or not as long as they can kill americans and then pin other shit on us.....then I know that you and I would fire back and then try to cover our tracks knowing that our side wouldnt be as important or talked about as much as this case was......but yeah I can certainly understand the cover up.,,,..IF thats what really happened.......

BLT, first, our troops are trained to handle these situations and there are clear rules of engagement. Second, noone doubts that our troops are trying to do the right thing and that the "enemy" is using the tactics you describe, Of course that also requires us to take precautions to prevent that. Is that fair? nope not in the least, but Americans will and should be held to a higher standard, if you dont like it dont invade another's country.

Me too. It would certainly help the situation for both sides of the argument.

It seems that when I have a good point, you guys fall into the "Loki" argument. In other words, you lose the argument, because you used an argument ender. It's like calling me a racist.

When you call someone a racist, the argument ends, it's over. There is nothing but bickering after that.

So, when I make a really good point, Larry pulls out either the Liar or the Loki point.

I've done it too, by using the "anti-American" word. See how it works? The argument is over at that point and there is nothing but bickering.
