Election Ends in Tie

With all the votes in -- and after counting regular ballots, absentee ballots, resolution ballots and provisional ballots -- the Montana legislative race between state Rep. Emelie Eaton (D) and challenger Krayton Kerns (R) is a dead-heat tie, 1,971 to 1,971, based on official results, the Laurel Outlook News reports. Under state law, Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) will pick the winner.

They should change the law. A coin toss would be better, 2 out of 3, 3 out of 5, etc. And since I am all for temr limits, the challenger should automatically get one coin toss to his name before starting. Having new blood is better than having incumbents. My 2 cents worth.

It hasn't helped Democrats that incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi's endorsed candidate for leader saw his brush with the old Abscam scandal all over the news, then was quoted calling ethics reform "total crap." Addressing a group of moderate Democrats on Tuesday night, Rep. John Murtha said, "Even though I think the ethics bill is total crap, I'm going to work to pass it anyway because that is what Nancy wants."
