Scientists said today that by unleashing a new kind of DNA analyzer on a 38,000-year-old fragment of fossilized Neanderthal bone they had reconstructed a portion of that creature's genetic code -- a technological tour de force that has researchers convinced they will soon know the entire DNA sequence of the closest cousin humans ever had.

But the Earth is only 6,000 years old!!

suprising but even right wingers dont like holding that line any more. They feel that the inclusion of inteligent design in the classroom would be detrimental to our value of critical scientific method..
go figure

...new kind of DNA analyzer on a 38,000-year-old fragment of fossilized Neanderthal bone...

What they really meant was 3,800-year-old fragment. They just slipped in an extra zero by mistake!

Data,

You know in a couple of days the correction will be made on the back pages of the next issue.

I hope Spencer Wells gets in on this.

"By collecting blood samples from thousands of men living in isolated tribes around the world and analyzing their DNA, 34-year-old geneticist Spencer Wells and his colleagues discovered that all humans alive today can be traced back to a small tribe of hunter-gatherers who lived in Africa 60,000 years ago."

www.nationalgeographic.com

Data,

Wait, according to the "BIBLE" written by GOD the history of the universe is only 6000 years old. They must be lying because GOD doesn't.

Aren't Basques Neanderthals? Or Cro-magnons? I always get that mixed up.

They just need to get some DNA from GW

"They just need to get some DNA from GW"

Why ?
They've already got chimpanzee DNA.

I must say that there is no conclusive evidence that these early people were the direct founders of the GOP. In fact, they were far to inteligent for such a sorry group.

No, no, no. It was a dead canine. Years are measured in dog years. Get with the program! What are a few thousand when we're talking man's best friend?

They already got duh-bai-yuh's DNA-from Jeffy Gannon-wiped it off his leg......

Keith-we already found the Original GOP DNA-It was found in the middle of a fossilized Brontosaurus turd.......

"They already got duh-bai-yuh's DNA-from Jeffy Gannon-wiped it off his leg....."

His leg ??!!

Yeah-Jeffy's a "top"-don'cha know-he's always on top-that means-when him and duh-bai-yuh collaped in exhausted bliss-to cuddle-of course-he got some from duh-bai-yuh's leetle puddle on his leg...

Alright, Neanderthal Park(Tm) here we come!! When do we get to clone some cavemen?

Maybe they'll turn out all smart like the cavemen in the Geiko commercials?

This will explain why certain groups in our society act the way they do.

Aren't Basques Neanderthals? Or Cro-magnons? I always get that mixed up.

I have a Basque friend who is quite heavy in the brow. You might be on to something.

But the Earth is only 6,000 years old!!

No no, that's the Flying Spaghetti Monsters work, he makes things look older than they are just to screw with us. He's funny that way.

Did you guys see the recent siting? At least He gives us proof of His existence!

In fact, they were far to inteligent for such a sorry group.

Self-retorting retort of the day.

Hey did anyone see Glen Becks special tonight on the left wing of the Democratic party?

Are you going to post that on every thread, dummy?

You know, just because he's been dead awhile doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to vote in the Chicago elections. Not that the Dems really need the extra votes lately, but it's still good to have another straight-ticket voter.

"but the earth is only 6000 years old!"

Blame Usher for that POS theory.

Maybe they will find out that Chairpoodle is the missing link?

Here comes the right to lifers. I can see it know waiving their picket signs and claiming "it ain't natural" after eating hormone tainted beef and antibiotics from Montsanto and drining their SUV's

crassus is liar

Now here is someone who has so much to say.

"No no, that's the Flying Spaghetti Monsters work"

May he caress you with his noodly appendage.

In de namde of de Pazta, and of de Zauz, and of de Pinot Grigot...

RAmen.

(sorry, I just love it when people bring up Pastafarianism, it makes so much more sense (well, the Eight "I'd Really Rather You Didn't"'s anyway) than other religions. And that pisses people off, which makes it all the more amusing for me.)

Ah hell. I just realized I have a bit of a typo in my prevous post, that should read (well, the Eight "I'd Really Rather you Didn't"s anyway). I hate typos. Hate 'em even more when I don't catch them in time.

So how does pasta go with chowdah?

MRHAPPY
Most of us don't watch "TV for stupid people".

I think Neanderthals would love Glen Beck.

That would explain why Neanderthals are extinct.

That would explain why Neanderthals are extinct.

Maybe in Texas, but not here in southwest Va....

Hey did anyone see Glen Becks special tonight on the left wing of the Democratic party?

I watched it last night Mr. Happy. Pretty interesting. Sure showed the extent of their hatred for pretty much anyone that does not think like them.

I thought that given the hipe it recieved that it fell a little short on content.

By the way, I have to checkle everytime I see your handle Mr. Happy. ;>)

checkle = chuckle

Hey, it is early.

"but not here in southwest Va...."

Generations of inbreeding brings out the most recessive genes.

Oh, I guess I was wrong Mr. Happy, some here do watch "TV for Stupid People."
My bad. I didn't think there were any folks here that dumb but I was wrong.

Danni,

Do you really think that people that watch TV are dumb or are you just screwing around?

BTW How is the boy doing in the electric field? Woork is good around the Nation right now.

Aren't Basques Neanderthals? Or Cro-magnons? I always get that mixed up.

Basque were the original europeans. National geographic did a study based upon phenotypes to determine genotype origin and Basque display an O- phenotype greater than 80% and lo and behold O neg is the universal DONOR..

My great grandaddy was Basque and about everyone in our family is O-.

BTW most Basque I know are Blond Hair Blue Eyes and the term Blue Blood originates from this region.

""Do you really think that people that watch TV are dumb or are you just screwing around?""

I think people who watch Glenn Beck are stupid.
My son is doing real well in electric these days and yes there are many jobs available. Apparently, it is one area of construction that you can't just use illegal aliens....too many were getting fried.

Yes, the earth is only 6,000 years old. And Dubya is an intellectual; and Foley is a normal guy; and Iraq had WMD's; and Cheney has a conscience; and Ann Coulter is a warm/fuzzy teddy bear; and ...blah,blah,blah. Please put that damn Bible on the fiction shelf where it belongs, right next to the Warren Report.

Blue blood:
Unlike so many other expressions, this one is well documented. It's a direct translation of the Spanish sangre azul. Many of the oldest and proudest families of Castile used to boast that they were pure bred, having no link with the Moors who had for so long controlled the country, or indeed any other group. As a mark of this, they pointed to their veins, which seemed bluer in colour than those of such foreigners. This was simply because the blue-tinted venous blood showed up more prominently in their lighter skin, but they took it to be a mark of their pure breeding. So the phrase blue blood came to refer to the blood which flowed in the veins of the oldest and most aristocratic families. The phrase was taken over into English in the 1830s.

Hey, Blind One, regarding your 0752:

I dunno, you might get away with it in a Manhattan chowdah (but then it'd just be a strange minestrone); never in a New England chowdah, though.

**tries to get back on topic**

"strange minestrone"

Sounds like a Pastafarian version of Limbo.

Don't the Intelligent Design people say that the Devil put the dinosaur bones in the earth to trick people. So I guess this bone was placed there by the Devil.

I just have to laugh when the ID group tries to explain fossils!!

Go Pastafarians!!!

Not all people who support the notion of intelligent design take a literal interpretation of the story of Genesis.

That's sort of like saying, "All liberals hate the military."

Oops...wait...bad example. :-)

Not all people who support the notion of intelligent design take a literal interpretation of the story of Genesis.

Only the christians. You can't have one without the other Jeff. If you don't support the primary documents, you can't support anything following.

ID always seemed a silly notion for Evangelicals to push. I'd have thought ID was more blasphamopus than evolution. At least with evolution you could argue (to stop the Ned Flanders of this world from being upset) that evolution was the physical reality of the Gods means of creating man, whereas ID states that any old Diety, alien, extradimensional monster, sea monkeys could have desgined life.

"Not all people who support the notion of intelligent design take a literal interpretation of the story of Genesis."

OK then 99.999999999999999998% of them do. ID was the first ahem scientific "theory" (I feel so dirty even using the word science around ID) to be developed simply to by-pass the Supreme Court....oh wait maybe the 3rd law of thermodynamics was created in response to increased taxation in the Rhienland.

""That's sort of like saying, "All righties hate the military veterans."

99.999999999999999998%

Using Verns calculator?

That's 18 decimal places.
There are 6.6E9 people.

Lets now make a bunch and use them for slave labor.

They just need to get some DNA from GW

Wow, it took ten entries before you said it. pathetic.
