Fidel Castro has terminal cancer and will not return to power as Cuba's leader, anonymous U.S. officials tell TIME magazine. However, the officials said the intelligence reports on the ailing, 80-year-old Cuban president are not definitive.

Wow, Fidel ! You were my dreams; "no bread without freedom and no freedom without bread". OK, they had bread and not much else but why did the US not give them a helping hand ? Why did it favor alliances with Somoza and Pineapple head and shun Castro before he even associated with the Russians ? Why does it always back the wrong people ?

Bush is a damn phoney saying that he won't have any dialogue with Castro's Communist Cuba yet Bush can't bend over far enough for COMMUNIST China which is much more abusive of its people.

Wonder who will lead if Castro dies? Catro's brother is not that young. We should just open up trade and stop letting the Cubans in Florida dictate what U.S. policy should be with Cuba.

I heard that the trade restrictions embargo against cuba also includes international contact restrictions. More specifficaly, any ship that reaches cuban shores can not dock on US shores for like 180 days.

China is my buddy.

I WISH THE OLD SOLDIER WELL.

"On February 4, 2003, the United Nations voted for an end to the forty-one-year-old embargo against Cuba. Only three nations--the U.S., Israel, and the Marshall Islands--voted against the motion. Again, on November 8, 2005 the United Nations voted[1] on a resolution to end the embargo, with the margin of 182 for the resolution and 4 against (The U.S., Israel, Palau and the Marshall Islands)."

If I remember right Palau and the Marshall Islands were members of the Coalition of the Willing too. So was Israel but somehow they got omitted from the official list.

Where do I send the flowers? He deserves to suffer just as his countymen have since he "liberated" them!

Cancer is a disease fit for a dictator. May he experience the pain he caused others.

Cancer cures Castro.

There is something poetic about him getting severe pain up the ass.

So how do cigars cause colo-rectal cancer?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

BWAHAhaahHAHAhAhahaha

Die slowly, Fidel.
Very slowly.

well there has been a couple of unexpected posts here but I can see the underlying mood of the thread......
castro was bad but not as bad as china and ...oh yeah lets see.......I guess that cuba was opened up and became a raging country with great wages and all sorts of economic things for its people and they all have a chicken in every pot and live in great houses DURING THE CLINTON YEARS WHEN HE did away with the bans..........WHAT>..he didnt......
nevermind........

heres hoping that he is in severe pain and he cant get any morphine and maybe he can feel some of the pain that the thousands if not more felt as they were imprisoned and killed and tortured..real torture.,not like what the dems say we do........

there is a silver lining.......havent had a cubano since being in europe 10 years ago...damn it was good.......

".real torture."

Like this dead guy?
The one who was beaten to death?

Castro is/was an evil man. He tortured and brutalized Cuba for forty years. Dissenters were either killed, imprisoned or exiled. He can not die soon enough.
Anyone who waxes romantic about that man and his so called "accomplishments" in Cuba simply does not know the horrors that were systematically carried out there against those Cubans with the chutzpah to dissent.

Now Data-it's not fair to throw provable facts at blt-he's not equippped to deal with facts-only conjecture and the talking points of the RNC and flush rimjob keep his peronality from collapsing into hysteria.....

Frank you are a riot. Keep it up, what a tool. Now watch the intellectual vitrol flow.

He tortured and brutalized Cuba for forty years. Dissenters were either killed, imprisoned or exiled. He can not die soon enough.

Unlike our former man in Havana, Somosa, who merely brutalized and tortured Cuba for the length of his reign. Dissenters were either exiled, imprisoned or killed. Clearly Castro was a step in the wrong direction.
And he wouldn't play ball with the mafia.

If CIA says he has terminal cancer, it means he's good for another 40 years. And sometime in the second Chelsea Clinton administration, we'll hear that he's taken a few days off for brain surgery, and the CIA will be full of their dire predictions again.

To NORTHGUY3: Somoza was the name of several of our Nicaraguan bastards. Our Cuban bastard was named Batista.

I should live so long...
