Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

For the first time since 2001, the Newsweek poll shows that more Americans trust the Democrats than the GOP on moral values and the war on terror. Fully 53 percent of Americans want the Democrats to win control of Congress next month, including 10 percent of Republicans, compared to just 35 percent who want the GOP to retain power.

Dismal numbers for the Republicans. Now, if everyone eligible were to vote, maybe, just maybe, our country could get off the wrong track.

i wonder how those numbers will tranlate at the polls. likley voter samples, as opposed to elligable voter samples, tend to be more conservative

47% want the world to come to an end so that we can all experience the rapture.

Wait a minute. The rapture was a couple weeks ago. I had a softball game, so I missed it.

"I had a softball game"

Well....did you win?

Todays Newsweek poll shows Dems leading in every single catagory. The Republican Revolution has turned into Republican Revulsion. They earned every bit of scorn in my view.

You'd think that the GOP would learn that diddling kids is a non-starter.

Not to imply that it's only women who care about kids but the Newsweek polls also show a dramatic drop for the GOP among women voters.

It's the Momma Bear syndrome.

Hey I'm glad that the Democrats are rising and the Republicans are falling in the polls. I sort of wish though that the majority of voters had been reading the paper about the disaster in Iraq, the disaster that is the deficit, etc. and made their minds up over issues instead of scandals. It's like the majority ignores the major news and decides who to vote for from tabloid journalism. Sad that the response to Katrina was so poor yet most didn't change their opinions while a sex scandal did.

It boils down to 18 toss-up seats in the House and 4 in the Senate.

and the polls go on and on...

look its pretty simple......most people who are voting for a congressman on the west coast are not going to change thier vote because of a slimeball from florida.....these are not national elections but a lot of smaller ones and there are too many issuses that the dems LOSE ON.......the market at all time high...and yes thats higher than when bill had his hooter out in the oval oravice.....(OKAY now surely there was no one here who didnt think I would get to him..is there?
just aint buyin it.......especailly when its a newsweek or time or abc or NY times poll.......and yes.....if it said that repubs were to win it all, you wouldnt think much of it either....its just that in this case.....IM RIGHT>.....LOL

but 100% of electronic vote counting machines want Republicants to win.

The ONLY way the GOP can retain control of Congress will be to cheat. And I don't put that past them for one second. And they will justify it as Gods will. Fucking lying criminal pieces of shit. (Oh yeah.)

Unless Diebold manages to carry out the greatest electronic vote theft in human history the GOP majorities in both houses of Congress are gone.

That is my main concern at this point. Getting people to the polls won't matter if there is no paper record, and then the electronic touch-screen totals just "happen" to be added up as GOP votes.

I used to be a skeptic on conspiracy theories like this. But after watching recent news shows, where one GOP spokesperson after another tried to convince people the Foley Affair was a Democrat dirty trick - without presenting a shred of evidence - you can see how a fanatical lust for power can drive otherwise normal people into desperate measures.

I wish I didn't even think such things. But these people are half-insane with fear that they are about to lose their chairmanships, perks, etc.

More than that, I think more than a few Republican insiders know that congressional oversight from a Democrat majority likely means jail time for them, as their misdeeds are exposed. If the GOP leadership can look the other way when children are pursued by a sexual predator, that shows how thoroughly power has corrupted them. They are now like cornered rats - and at their most dangerous.

53% Want dems to take congress, of which, 28 percent said they will be staying home on the 1st Tues in Nov. in order to answer new phone polls.

The other 82 percent of adult Americans could'nt be reached for comment.

Not only 53 percent want dems to take it, only 35 percent want pubs to take it. Gap of 18 percent. Next up: attack on polls.
