"Why do Americans continue to vote for the same two parties?"

Posted by Ray1 at 2006-09-03 11:28 AM

Because they are stupid, Ray.

It was a rhetorical question Data. And to think that these same people are stirring up the pot in the ME and managing our economy - all while these same stupid people put as much faith in them as they do Jesus.

I posted this story at 3:28 AM.

poppies..poppies..poppies....

Gee TOTO, this doesn't look like Kansas anymore! I thought they were going to plant cash crops here in Afgahisneverland?
Must be that only poppies are worth enough cash!!!!

"Gee TOTO, this doesn't look like Kansas anymore!"

Have another hit and it will look even less like Kansas.

Never had the opportunity to "chase the Dragon".

Bumper crop of poppies. Poor Afghani farmers get some spending money. Price of heroin here goes down. (Junkies get to save a buck.) More drug related arrests leads to more employment for prison guards and prosecutors. A win-win situation for all involved.

Actually, poppies is the only crop with which they can make some profit AND stay alive growing as the war lords in the area have made it known, "grow poppies or we'll kill you and your family". And you know we don't have enough troops to protect every farm in Afghanistan

Maybe that's what Ann meant by "swimmingly".

It's either opium or the Taliban. Also, from what I hear marijuana is big time over there.

With Reagan it was cocaine. I love it when repubicans are running things. Its such a rush.

"Gee Toto, I'm really starting to nod off....."

What a reliable story. Every few months a variation of the poppies in Afghanistan story makes its way here, with all the predictible posts. Failure of leadership, blah, blah, blah.

Lefties are reliable for their lack of new ideas or thoughts.

Besides, virtually all of this heroin ends up in Europe, so who cares?

"Gee Toto, I'm really starting to nod off....."

funny flag

They used to call HW Bush "Poppy" because of his "alledged" CIA role in moving SE Asian heroin to the states.

Although this is just an opinion, I think drug money has corupted our government to a greater degree than anyone can imagine.

Don't think so? Well in the 1800's Britain openly fought a war to deal opium to the Chinese. We "Looked" the other way while the Contras dealt coke here to finance their adventure. Could our Afghan role be a redux?

How much has poppy cultivation increased since the US Invasion? HMMM...........

" In 2003 potential worldwide opium production and heroin production increased significantly, attributable overwhelmingly to increases in production in Afghanistan."

www.usdoj.gov

They're growing opium in Afghanistan!

Oh My!

It rained in Oregon this week!

Oh my!

50 million years ago little proto-Afghans, half apes, were planting rudimentary poppies. 50 million years into the future and they'll be growing poppies on Ceti Alpha 5.

This country has had decades of imbeciles in charge. Why? Why do Americans continue to vote for the same two parties?

What in the FAUK does this have to do with the subject or the next response either. you boobs are out of it on this one.

so there are poppies growing in afghanistan....well STOP THE FRIGGIN PRESSES........

yes vernon....THIS NEWS COMES JUST WE ARE MOVING INTO ELECTION SEASON.....the dnc is telling the liberal media to release things like this a little at a time because of the elections.

now I dont believe this completely...at least for now....but I just wanted to show you how silly you sound with your conspiracy nonsense.

Vermin misses the first line of the article, "Afghanistan's world-leading opium cultivation rose a "staggering" 59 percent this year..."

Contrary to Vermin's nonsense, the Taliban, bad as they were, showed that Opium production CAN be controlled.

Huge increases in opium production under the American-installed government just points to the weakness of that government, the lack of follow-through by this administration, and their unkept promises about Afghanistan.

Nothing new about that last part in respect to most of what they promise in general.

So much for the 'War on Drugs". It's going as well as the neocon coined, "War on Islamofacism" and the War in Iraq. LMAO !!

Maybe we could be Bin Laden hooked on Heroin. May be the only thing for Bushies to try since their fearless cowboy leader says, "I don't think about him anymore. He's not really improtant to me"

HUH?

Bushlovertwo says...

I actually agree with him ~ with the exception of the "liberal" part.

Has it occurred to anyone that GW is now a liability to the NWO & they are making sure that things now change ~ so that the NWO can managed business as usual via the Dems now:>)

Trust me, they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Just like the terrorist Grove Norquist said, their plan is to weaken America to the point where they can drown us in a bathtub.

Well, they are weakening America to the tune of $300 Billion per week, going right into Halliburton and Carlyle's pocket.

I wish I had profitable liabilities like that.

BTW: everyone has to realize that Bush is NOT a globalist. War profiteers and international criminals would NEVER want a one-world government. They want war and divisiveness.

I can choose not to use Opium, or heroin or crack or weed or meth...

I can't choose to have my head cutoff or my building blown up. As long as the terrorist camps are gone, grow all you want you crazy Afghanis... Grow all you want.

Let's add the billions from opum production to the trillions in oil revenues currently helping buy those swords and bombs you refer to ROB_THE_A_HOLE

Afghanistan is just another country Bush dropped the ball on with empty promises. The country probably still hiding UBL..the guy Bush was referring to when he said, "I don't think about him much anymore. He's not that important anymore". The country that still doesn't have running water in most places.

ROB....I can't say how appropriate your nickname is most of the time. At least you admit it in public. You really give me a chuckle.

You mean you blog even when you're NOT at work goldbricking? You're amazing dude.

"Vermin misses the first line of the article, "Afghanistan's world-leading opium cultivation rose a "staggering" 59 percent this year..."

No, dumbass, you miss the point. Afghanistan is not our colony on a string. We don't control it.

Also, they've been growing poppies there for a gazillion years, regardless of the government or lack of one.

OLD NEWS RECYCLED FOR OPIUM LOVERS!

Barry Seal: Mena...for Clinton & Bush sr lovers ONLY:>)

oraclesyndicate.twoday.net

FLASHBACK: The Crimes of Mena
The newly unearthed papers show the real Seal as far more impressive and well-connected than the character played by Dennis Hopper in a made-for-TV movie some years ago, loosely based on the smuggler's life. The film portrayed the pudgy pilot as a hapless victim, caught in a cross fire between bungling but benign government agencies and Latin drug lords. The truth sprinkled through the documents is a richer - and altogether more sinister - matter of national and individual corruption. It is a tale of massive, socially devastating crime, of what seems to have been an official cover-up to match, and, not least, of the strange reluctance of so- called mainstream American journalism to come to grips with the phenomenon and its ominous implications - even when the documentary evidence had appeared.

"If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched."

-- George Bush, cited in the June, 1992 Sarah McClendon Newsletter

I have read estimates that illegal drugs are one of the top businesses in the world, moneywise. Weren't some of the Medellin guys (Pablo Escobar, et al.) worth Billions?

In Data's link above from the DOJ, it says that the major movers of Heroin from SW Asia are Pakistani immigrants in NYC. It says they are major players on the US East Coast. That's a lot of US$$$$ those Pakistanis are making here.

I wonder where that money goes?

Oh my, Vermin called me a dumbass. And informed the world that that country is not a "colony".

Against such soaringly brilliant intellectual retorts, whatever shall I do?

Perhaps I'll just repeat myself, so he has a second-chance to grasp the point.

"Huge increases in opium production under the American-installed government just points to the weakness of that government, the lack of follow-through by this administration, and their unkept promises about Afghanistan."

The country probably still hiding UBL..

Most reports say Pakistan... Analyzing his last tape and the landscape and vegetation from his last video. Pakistan would make teh most sense, our troops can't go there, and Pakistan's military won't.

But I like how you tried to throw him in there even though all reports are to the contrary. Adds a little weight to your very light argument...

the cia faked tape right?

ROB, I've seen conflicting reports from area locals. The general view now is that he's either just inside the Pakistai border - an area hard hit by massive earthquakes that levelled everything - or he's still hiding in Afghanistan, which has been sugggested by many locals.

Fact of the matter still is that Bush doens't CARE about UBL anymore. What a shame!! 140,000 troops in Afghanistan would have both killed ALL the Taliban (who we armed by the way vis a vis the Soviets), and sent a message to the rest of the terrorists in the region that "We WILL find you and kill you if you attack us and we're RIGHT HERE in the neighborhood to do it!!" It also would have been prosecuted with the blessing of the Arab world, help of a sympathetic international community, and gone a long way to stifiling the radicals in Pakistan and nearby Iran - as a STRONG American presence ready to do it again RIGHT AWAY in the region instead of being mired down in Iraq. Which ALL the experts warned Bush would happen before the war and he went in anyway

This whole effort could have been carried out so much more effectively post 9/11. Bush won't admit it, and the price is SO high because of the blunders of his entire administraton.

That was part of the deal. Bush gets first cut.

Also, they've been growing poppies there for a gazillion years, regardless of the government or lack of one.

OMG, are you you going to "cut and run" from the War On Drugs, Vermin? You aren't an America-hating, TerroristIslamoCommunuFascist, Drug dealer-loving hippy, are you Vermin? Don't you know we have to fight the drugs over there so we don't have to fight it over here, just like the War Preznit says?

PS: UBL is still in Arabia, which is right where he went, with Bush's blessings, after Tora Bora.

And thank you, JSG, for being a contributor to the demise of this blog, and for being a helpful agent in the quest for two more years of total Republican rule.

You, Bani, and Bob deserve to be paid. Please contact the RNC. I'm sure they can at least get you some tickets to Sean Hannity's next "Freedom concert" for your past work.

Oh, JSG, you disagree with Bani on a rahther key point?

I've never heard you express it when it counted.

i have a mate in abinf who was a in the 'ghan earlier this year. apparently the reason for the step-up in attacks is that the central govt. has become more proactive in poppy eradication efforts, designating certain areas for total eradication.
the problem exists when a village's fields are targetted but the provincial governors fields across the dirt road are'nt, fuelling resentment/anger/favouritism. the talibs then exploit this and the poverty resulting from a lack of poppy income, urging (with cash) the villagers to be complicit in their activities by burying arms caches or noting coalition force patrol schedules etc.
here's what the senlis council make of the helmand situation;
www.senliscouncil.net

I think the administration could be tried and convicted of breaking a law....the law of unintended consequences.....to the fiftieth degree felony level.

Alcoholic with addictive personality creates an explosion in poppy production...hmmmm....I though his jaw was grinding...

Goerge H Bush is to cocaine what George W Bush is to heroin. Great family legacy.

Yawn. Your rhetoric sounds like a Republifundie pule. Same lying bullshit, different party.

I have a feeling it's people like you we will have to guard against once Democrats win back the government.
