"Olberman is a creepy guy. I try and watch him, but his resentement at O'reilly borders on obsession"

No shit. He's as bad as the goon squad.

He should have held up a picture of a horses ass.

Olberman is cool shit. He's not as bad as any "goon squad." He's one of the only guys on cable news who tells it like it is and doesn't bullshit the viewer. He doesn't pander to the right and isn't ashamed to call out the hypocrissy of the Bush administration. I wish more people on CNN and MSNBC were like him, because we need sane voices to balance out the vitriol and insanity on FOX.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I just Love it. O'Reilly should be put in His place every so often.

Larry

Thats pretty cool

The psychonaut who is teevee talkin head Bill O' Rielly is a coward, an asshole and pretty much non-reality based moron.

As opposed to our own BOR who is pretty much everything the original falafel king is not.

Bill O' Lielly avoided Ken Olberman at that charity dinner cos Bill knows, at the end of the day, how full of shit he is and avoiding conversations with folk like Olberman in public is a good way to keep less people from finding that out.

He's got nothing.

No arguments. No game. No soul.

That his ratings on Fox are still up there is a continual source of amusement to Spud.

Spud sez "just cos something is popular doesn't neccessarily mean it aint worth shit... it's just a REALLY good rule of thumb"

In a coupla years people will look back on the O'Rielly phenomenon like they do know at Pet Rocks and Alvin and the Chipmunks Records.

You know... with embarassment.

Be Well.

"now" obviously.

Be Well.

Ah, Cheney, that was satire. The "goon squad" is that pack of stalkers that are obsessed with me.

Ooooh... Yeah, I'm not "hep" with the in-jokes here. :)

"The "goon squad" is that pack of stalkers that are obsessed with me"

Too true! Sometimes Spuds calls 'em the "goon platoon" or the "troll patrol"

Spud loves the Elvis Costello song BTW...

"Never thought they'd put me in the Goon squad
They've come to look you over and they're giving you the eye
Goon squad
They want you to come out to play
You'd better say goodbye

Some grow just like their dads
And some grow up too tall
Some go drinking with the lads
Some don't grow at all

And you must find the proper place
For everything you see
But you'll never get to make a lampshade out of me
"

Armed Forces is Spud favorite Elvis Costello record.

Be Well.

You come up trumps again, Derfla5!

NO, it's O'REILLY who is the CREEPY GUY.

Olberman is witty and ironic.
Has some good news stories also.

I'll bet OReilly wish he could cut Olbermann's mic... but unfortunately reality isn't his show.

Poor lil' Bill. I guess he'll just have to force a woman to have phone sex with him.

I'm sure O'Reilly is the kind of guy we would like to have a beer with though.

How can Olberman taunt O'Reilly? O'Reilly has such great journalistic credentials.... remember that syndicated goof "Inside Edition"? Wow that was great. That and hanging out with whores in Nam. LMAO They are both jerks.

I bet all the people in the world who watch olberman just posted to this thread.

"I bet all the people in the world who watch olberman just posted to this thread"

How often do you watch?

I dunno, his ratings continue to grow and grow, and O'Reilly's continue to fall, except for the over 70 crowd.

Hey Yav--

O'Reilly is about 1.3 million and Keith is about 300,000. Don't want to bust your bubble. ;o)

And Olberman is obsessed with Bill--must be a falafel thing... He cites O'Reilly as the worse or worst person in the world--at least once a week.

Murphy

Thanks for getting me back into the Retort Roger. ;o)

Murphy

Murphy, you're not busting my bubble. I have the numbers right here. You don't need to be gentle with me! :)

To be really honest and fair, Olbermann's declined the past two months from his high. Even at his high point he wasn't pulling in near what O'Reilly does. The only bright spot is that Olbermann does good reporting and analysis with humor, and he has a decent share of the 24-54 demographic. He is a tad bit obsessed with o'Reilly and that works to his detriment (though I find it quite humorous, personally).

Oh, and O'Reilly's stabilized his decline if you were curious.

Yav, I watch MSNBC a lot. But Olberman and his attacks on other pundits (not just O'Reilly) just makes him come off really mean and petty.

It's like he's trying to be a combination of O'Reilly, Mathews, and IMUS. It all adds up to Keith Olbercreepy if you ask me.

Murphy,
The clown gets all his O'Reilly bashing from Media Matters. He and MSNBC use morons like Dana Milbank or Laurence O'Donnell for their expert opinion. Which shows why they barely beat Court TV.

Olberman, Matthews, Cosby, Carlson combined ratings can't touch O'Reilly.

Online TV personality feuds have to be about the silliest things. Olbermann is perpetually last or right there at the bottom and is looking to get some publicity. I'm no fan of O'Reilly, but Olbermann is just sad. I'll just keep watching neither

Derfla5, I understand where you're coming from, and certainly I can relate to someone being creepy to someone else. Coulter's creepy beyond words to me. O'Reilly annoys me enough where I have to change the channel after about 10 minutes (on a good night).

Olbermann's a competitive bastard and I enjoy that. He doesn't do the strawman game, he goes after the substance. If he's popular, fine, if he's not, that's fine, too. Just glad to be able to enjoy the show.

One thing I would hope you would agree, O'Reilly's entertainment, Olbermann's actually News with entertainment segments thrown in.

Yav- I don't think any of the shows are "news". They are all entertainment.

They present only the most superficial presntation of the factts highly edited and filtered through the partisan personalities of the hosts.

For real news, I read the major newspapers with diverse political leanings...and then if possible I go to the source documents - read the actual court decision, or the amendment, or the report, or watch C-Span of the actual debate in the house, ot the press conference the news stories were based on...

Then when I read various pundits or watch Olbrman, or O'Reilly I am comning to them from an informed place.

I would never call Olberman or O'Reily a news source except in those rare cases when one of their guests says something that becomes news.

That's fair, Derfla.

I do a similar thing, and I have to say I do watch Olbermann for entertainment. I do find his 5th and 4th stories usually more detailed and presented with an alternative perspective I find useful. I don't get any such value out of O'Reilly (personal thing I'm sure).

Time to pack. I'm on the road all next week.

Derfla5, by the way, you got some due respect from people today for your answer in the nooner. From me, too. That whole thing about a blogger's right to be anonymous. Good man.

Murphy, glad to see you back - I neglected to say that earlier. I actually got a big smile on my face when I saw your name, even though you're always WRONG!
{grinning here}

Crispee, can't leave you out, but you're been around and mixing it up.

Hope to sneak in while plugged in at the hotel. Y'all take good care.

"One thing I would hope you would agree, O'Reilly's entertainment, Olbermann's actually News with entertainment segments thrown in."

O'Reilly is entertainment in the sense that a car accident is entertainment.

Olberman commands much more respect from the spuddish one.

Which is to say... some.

Be Well.

O'Reilly is about 1.3 million and Keith is about 300,000. Don't want to bust your bubble. ;o)
Murphy

Yeah, and Britney Spears sells more records than Sonny Rollins or Louis Armstrong or Robert Johnson. So what.

Once again, Ahole Rob sums up my own feelings on the subject. I've never heard of Olberman before there was another thread on him, here, last week. And I've seen O'Reilly for a grand total of about 45 minutes, then only if the restaurant or bar I happen to be eating in has him on and I can't convince anyone to turn the channel to anything else.

How stupid. One commentator hungry for ratings attacking another. They should both be in People magazine, and off TV. Free country though.

Morris sed...

"Yeah, and Britney Spears sells more records than Sonny Rollins or Louis Armstrong or Robert Johnson. So what"

Spud abhores Britney "Just trust the president" Spears.

Spud adores SR, LA and RJ.

Morris knows wot he's talkin' about!

Good post sez Spud!

Be Well.

PS After a fine and fun filled weekend blog-a-thon the tater o' doom heads off in search of rem sleep
stage left.

Murphy,
I didn't realize that there were only 1.3 million Americans who were so stupid that they couldn't operate a channel changer when Bill O'Wrongly's show pops up on the boob tube. I would have thought there were far more than 1.3 million catatonic people in this country.

But then again, it is heartening that when you add up all of the total viewers of all "talking heads", or actually the opposite end of the human anatomy, it doesn't add up to a stream of piss in the Mississippi River of humanity that occupies our fair land. Thankfully, the overwhelming majority of Americans are intelligent enough to think for themselves and not have the pablum that is served up by this army of buffoons.
By my count, their sum total amounts to a whopping 2 million viewers at the most out of almost 280 million Americans in this country. That is 7/100th's of 1 percent of potential viewers.
Dateline NBC has 9 million viewers and CBS 60 Minutes has 8.2 million. Both are considered opinion programs by the far-right so they are drawing 4-4.5 times as many viewers as the most popular Talking Head program around. So 3$ of Americans are watching these programs each and less than 1% are watching O'Wrongly and an immeasurably tiny number are watching the rest of the Talking Heads.
The other 94% are doing more productive things with their time.

OReilly is far less influential than he would like to believe. But he doesn't get paid those millions for his hard-hitting news reporting.

Like George Dubai says, you gotta catapult the propaganda.

Britney sells more records because corporate media pushes her. She was a Mouseketeer before the suits decided, once she got breasts, to put her on a fishhook for the impressionable little pubescents so they could pry the kiddies' wallets open for clothes, records, makeup, every other product you can sell when you've given the boys little competitive woodies and made the girls jealous and vulnerable. Admirable.

MacDonald's sells more burgers that Omaha Steaks.

O'Reilly draws more viewers.

And according to Jesus Christ, "Broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go by it. But strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leads to life, and few there are who find it."

I find it hard to validate a hateful, mean-spirited, lying, hypocritical TV commentator who has a dildo up his ass and a harassed woman on the phone, and doesn't have the decency to slink away from public life once that's known, and instead keeps on trying to remove the speck from other people's eyes. Sorry. I can't even think about feeling otherwise.

I don't think any of the shows are "news". They are all entertainment.

I think this sums up the whole Fox News Channel. A more accurate name would be the "Fox Talk Channel".

I think this sums up the whole Fox News Channel. A more accurate name would be the "Fox Talk Channel".

I agree, but would add News in general. News is about entertainment and ratings, not about informing the public. Just watch those silly news teases... "Its an average household item that will make your wiener fall off, we'll tell you what it is at 11."

Ok, i could honestly give a crap about either... for starters there are too many good shows on when their shows run, and I just can't watch that much yelling. But Olbermann officially gets the Douche award in this:

www.broadcastingcable.com

Putting an O'Reilly mask on and making a Nazi salute? A motherfucking Nazi salute? Seriously what is it with liberals that anyone/everyone who doesn't believe exactly what they do is a Nazi?

Somehow what O'Reilly is doing is right in line with the murder of 6,000,000 jews along with millions of other people who were killed because of their war?

O'Reilly is not a Nazi... to compare their gay little on-air feud to battling one of the most evil regimes this world has known is shockingly awful.

Both of them have a misplaced sense of importance. O'reilly because he is on the number one cable news show at his time period, and Olberman because he thinks anyone cares at all about him.

They are both insignificant. Olberman comes off as more insignificant because of this obsession. He needs this feud, he needs O'Reilly. O'Reilly does not need Olberman. They both need a dose of reality.

Olberman is obsessed with O'Rielly. Why does Olberman make a big deal about O'Rielly not going up to him at the dinner? Why didn't Olberman go up to O'Rielly? Olberman should stick to what he knows best - sports. He has ratings envy - due to the size of his pen-- I mean following. He needs to get a life and move on or go to a shrink and find out what his obsession is really about.

This whole shit reminds me of the Ron Burgundy Anchorman scene where the networks have a gang fight..hilarious.

Legio:

Yes, having people tell the families of fallen soldiers that their son's deserved to die because they are faggots and allow faggots to serve in the military is most assuredly "hilarious".

Comparing it to Anchorman is all the proof I need to endorse these protests as a real knee-slapper.

You sir are an imbecile.

One of my favorite scenes of any movie Legio...

"You wanna dance? Well I wanna Polka"

I am an imbecile because I was in the wrong topic. My writings above have nothing to do with Legio or the topic at hand.

Working and blogging are not a good idea.

Legio:
Please accept my apology.

I gather Obermann has a dildo up his ass, then...?

I've actually never seen the guy. I exiled my television years ago to get my life back--and it worked. I've seen O'Reilly at other people's houses--and in the news on the Web. And in the bookstore. Yuck.

Sorry to hear about the rest of you, still sopping up every drop of that 500-channel wasteland. Me, I'm listening to good old rock 'n roll, live most often. Yeah! Life is too short...

Nothing everyone here hasn't done before Buck... Its just surpising to see someone admit their mistake.

While I'm quoting movies, this one seems appropriate now...

But I treasure my Alvin and the Chipmunks record collection. It was a K-Tell tv special... only $39.95 along with a set of steak knives.

O'Reilly doesn't want to deal with anyone who isn't going to sit there quietly while he berates them. He's a complete coward.

I never miss Countdown, I have it on my Tivo. I do wish he would tone down the OReilly stuff, it only helps OReilly but Olberman is the best news out there.

"O'Reilly doesn't want to deal with anyone who isn't going to sit there quietly while he berates them. He's a complete coward."

Of course, you're only going by Olberman's version of the story. Perhaps O'Reilly doesn't give a shit about Olberman and never made a point to go talk to him. It's not like Olberman's obsession with him would allow him to believe that, of course he thinks O'Reilly was purposely avoiding him.

Olberman's show isn't the least bit entertaining, and that's why nobody watches it. Nobody gives a shit that he hates O'Reilly, because even if you hate O'Reilly his show is more fun to watch. Olberman is so negative that he seems like he's about to cry by the time the show is over.

Joe - I was talking in general from what I've seen on O'Reilly's show. Where he finds guests who are willing to sit there while he creates a position for them and then berates for it is beyond me.

I've never watched Olberman's show.

I've seen plenty of people stand up to O'Reilly on his show. There was a lefty on there the other day that made him look like a fool. He doesn't always shut out opposing viewpoints, contrary to the opinions of some.

It boils down to this:

Without the O'Reilly controversy Olberman has nothing. He needs this to keep the few viewers he has interested.

Maybe O'Reilly realizes that if he gives Olberman so much as a sneer he is furthering this controversy?

Isn't that basically what many were saying in the thread about some rival blog to this place? Ignore it and it will go away? Why would Drudge give a lesser-lite the time of day when thats what they want?

I'm sure O'Reilly is the kind of guy we would like to have a beer with though.

O'Reilly's the drunk at the end of the bar who overhears people talking politics, butts into the conversation with his opinion and thinks he's right all the time. I can't imagine a worse drinking companion.

Olbermann's funny and self-deprecating, and he's clearly taking on O'Reilly because it's good shtick for his show.

Joe- Ugh. Oreillys show sucks.

His show does suck if you're looking to get news from it. If you're looking for a laugh and some inflammatory opinions, O'Reilly's show isn't bad. I watch it once in a while because I already know what all the news is, and want to hear an extremist's take on it. Sometimes I agree, but many times I find myself saying "what an idiot." It helps me figure out where I stand on issues to hear someone ranting about them.

His radio show is worse. Imagine oreilly without the slick visuals, and add in some dumb bitch that agrees with everything he says.

Olberman has been on my "A" list since he was on SportsCenter. His time with Dan Patrick was ESPN's best years.

Legio:

And you are humorless fucktard. What in the fuck are you talking about? I have no idea what bullshit these two clowns are talking about and was making a reference to the network "wars" that seem to be constantly raging. Try and remove your head from your ass once in a while and breath some air.

An apology was refreshing on this site.

"Olbermans obsessed with O'Reilly"

Yeah, and Bill-do is obsessed with getting his legs high in the air while he rams dildos in his ass....all while talking to interns on the phone. Twice so far.

......who's the creepy one again??

Hey everyone,

I'm profesora2k2 and this is my first post. Not sure where to jump in but would love to participate in the discussions.

Going crazy with all of these airheads in society not having need I say a freakin' clue as to what's going on in the world, let alone their very own backyards.

Homeschooling is my thing and traveling lots!

Hope to get to know and chat with you guys

Brick I've been meaning to talk to you about that, you should probably find a place to lay low for a while, you're probably wanted for murder...

Now I have to sing Afternoon Delight... thanks Legio

This story is getting old and boring. Who cares what the talking-heads have to say.

"He doesn't always shut out opposing viewpoints, contrary to the opinions of some."

I guess I'm not willing to watch long enough to find out so I'll have to take your word for it. I've just seen him bully people who were too polite to deal with someone like him.

O'Reilly's just a no-talent, not very bright, schoolyard bully who can't take it when it's dished back at him!!! He threatens to alert Fox Security when somebody slips Olberman's name into his radio show? GROW UP!!! Or maybe, Grow some!! I've see him cut the micropone of people who hold opposing views, and are getting the better of him in debate! He berated the son of a 9-11 victim because he disagreed with him on the war in Iraq. He often makes the most idiotic arguements and likes to pretend that he's joisting with the powers that be in favor of the little guy (like the ACLU). The fact is that the Reich Wing seems to like schoolyard bulleys, because that's exactly what Bush is. They seem to need somebody to tell them what to think! Tucker Carlson even lauded Bush for being the type of guy who snaps other guys in the locker room with a wet towel.

O'Reilly uses those Dumbo ears to hear what everybody is saying about him, and it's made him paranoid!!! He lashes out at "Liberal smear sites," Air America, Al Franken and Olberman among others! For those of you who think that the Olberman feud goes one way, recall that Bill-O had a petition on his website to have Olberman fired and replaced with Phil Donahue. Olberman signed the petition on the air.

Olberman is doing a great job at poking the soft white underbelly of the Reich Wing, and O'Reilly in particular! They're such an easy target, and so snippy when somebody points out their hipocrisy!!! Fox's PR department has issued at least two "Wish him well" snarks at Olberman, that tells you that he's hitting the mark, and it's hurting them!!! It can't be long until Bill-O sends Fox Security to knee-cap Keith!
The Fued has been great for Olberman, who has shown steady growth in the 25-54 demos, and actually beat Bill-O in that demo in one quarter hour. Not bad considering where MSNBC came from!!! Success doesn't happen overnight, but more and more people are finding Countdown. I think it's the best news program on TV. Hopefully Dan Abrams considers what's making the program successful, and programs the rest of the network in that direction.

more "ado" about nothing about no-one!

it is all right to be real

reality ......."made" you!

you will get used to it
