But what is even more amazing is that there are people defending his abuse of authority.

Since the program is not illegal and constitutional the decision by the SCOTUS should provide a real vindication for the President.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of liberals and democrats when the SCOTUS rules the NSA program constitutional.

Will the Left defer to the wisdom of the court and hail the SCOTUS as a great mediator on important issues such as these as they did with Hamdan?

This is another example of how you can be penny-wise and pound-foolish. If Bush had just gone to Congress back in 2002 and 2003 and asked for changes in the laws, chances are good the GOP Congress would have enacted new laws to allow more flexibility in surveillance while balancing this with privacy and individual freedom. Bush would not have been in this dilemna, nor would America have been embarassed before the world as a hypocrite to its own ideals.

This is also a warning to the rightnuts of the consequences of being slavish followers and prisoners of ideology. If you all had held Bush accountable, instead of launching knee-jerk attacks on liberals and Democrats, you would have helped your guy and the country avoid a big mess.
