I don't think Jesus would approve of that comparison. But there are a few christians who would.

And like Jesus, Ken will rise from the dead...on an island beach somewhere in the south pacific with a frozen dacquiri in hand.

""He was taken out of the world right at the right time," he said. "History has a way of vindicating people who have been wronged.""

LOL

The right time to be taken out of the world would have been prior to the conviction.

Now now-Sagmain-I really-really doubt....

if jeebus ever drank a dacquiri........
That said-is that guy in denial about his stepfather for some reason?
Did Lay donate a bunch of money to his church or sumpin'?

Lay was found guilty of 10 counts of conspiracy, fraud and misusing personal bank loans on May 25 . And he really thinks the old man is going to be exhonerated? C'mon, he may well have been a decent man-I didn't know him-but the things he was party too that got him convicted were just dead WRONG for anyone to do. Besides-didn't feebus jeebus say it would be easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven?

I don't know if it was mentioned, but wasn't Bush at his funeral? I thought he barely knew the man, and for someone as busy as the president to go to a funeral of someone he barely knew (besides a head of state), well that strikes me as a little odd.

Either that or Bush is yet again full of shisnat.

The elder wiser Bush attended the funeral.

Strange... When Jesus says things that conservatives accuse liberals of saying, for example questioning the moral integrity of rich people, they get accused of being moonbats.

"And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Jesus, the original moonbat.

But now Jesus's preachers are on the rich man's side. Praise be!

Any man's creed can be finessed by a crap load of money. Once your saved, the world is your oyster.

It doesn't matter that he destroyed a major company and put thousands of people out of work. It is irrelevant that he robbed thousands of people out of their retirement savings. Swindling California taxpayers out of millions of dollars in tax funds is not a big obstacle to going to heaven -- not if you have the correct set of beliefs about Jesus.

You can have the morals of a common cockroach (correction: the morals of a non-gay cockroach) and still go to heaven according to Fundamentalist Christians. Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler, Genghis Kahn, and the rest of history's mass murders only needed to utter the correct magic phrase to go to heaven. Hitler and Stalin are probably in Heaven because they were Christians, while many of their victims are in Hell. God is a raving lunatic who forgives and offers cheap cheap cheap cheap grace to terrible people, as long as they manage to ask Jesus for forgiveness at some point just before they die.

I saw Jesus in a gay bar in Portland Maine on a warm summer night in 1966...I know Jesus and Ken Lay is no Jesus...

What in HELL would possess anyone to compare this immoral thief to Jesus Christ and Martin Luther King?

Those close around him say Lay spent all of 1999 and 2000 working to get his compatriot George Bush elected...It's amazing Bush 41 goes to his funeral and George 43 can't remember who Lay was.

Ken Law emailed employees right up to the collapse that all was well, buy more stock...He got away without punishment...But then the CONS think he was envolved in normal "Business" practices...Screw anyone you can

you have to understand the context of the comparisons....the preacher in question, by the way, the rev/ willliam lawson is a black activist LIBERAL preacher in houston who has done a lot of good things for poor people down through the years and as I have tried to tell 'ya'll' many times....ken lay gave millions upon millions for the poor people in houston....of all colors......and yes...he was a crook and a cheat and deserved to be thrown in jail for what he did to the thousands of enron people....
I guess the rev lawson is just a better person than many of you here that he can see the good in some bad people.....

the comments about jesus are too wacked out to even comment on.....but they ARE coming from raving libs who I thought were all about compassion and fogiveness and all that.....guess I was wrong...

and the funny side.......

kenlayisalive.org for lay sightings......

oh yeah.....and as somesaid about another subject....

isnt it ironic that I am having to remind people how to be a liberal........hee hee

W was at the funeral...he and Lara entered and left through the back door, not speaking to the press.

Whoops...my bad. W wasn't at the funeral.

There is no historical record of jeebus.
It's a myth for superstitious imbeciles.

Too bad kenny boy was all too real.

"

"

Never been to First Methodist in Houston, have you? It's a nauseating experience.

and WHY in the hell would you ever set foot in it?

"I guess the rev lawson is just a better person than many of you here that he can see the good in some bad people....."

He wasn't just saying there is some good in Ken Lay. He said he was wrongly convicted, which is a lie. He also tried to compare Ken Lay's trial to Christ's trial, torture and execution.

I guess you are just a better delusional thinker than many of us here.....

BLT,
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Nice try though...thanks for playing and you get the home edition of the Drudge Retort for your nice parting gift.
Reverend Fillmycollectionplate was bought and paid for with Enron money. This had nothing to do with seeing the good in people. This "man of God" is a disgrace for comparing a guy who was a common thief and if not, at least criminally incompetent, to Jesus.

evil.....you are the one who is wrong....and you sound a little like danni and her corporate devils attack..
just because kenlay gave to charities supported by this man doesnt mean that he was an enron shill as you say.....thats crazy thinking.......

sully....dont be confused....some of what you have ranted about was said by his stepson...not the reverend lawson......

The man gave millions of stolen money to charities and he lived like a king. You can make anything you want out of that.

I hope I'm compared to Jesus eventhough by the time I die I will have been responsible for 100,000 deaths. You see I found a way to turn water into wine. Guess what 90+% of your body is?

Yes Data, you don't have to wear a sign around your neck stating "Christian's are imbeciles". We get it.

Were you upset when Ann Coulter called you "Godless"?

You have to understand, Ken Lay didn't have the worst occupation written about in the bible. The reverand couldn't have made this comparison if Ken Lay was a tax collector.

"
Were you upset when Ann Coulter called you "Godless"?"

She didn't call me "godless".
I'm not a "liberal".

Of course, in Ann's tiny little mind, either you're a dittohead idiot like her, or you're a "lib".

"sully....dont be confused....some of what you have ranted about was said by his stepson...not the reverend lawson......"

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. But the reverend did say that Ken Lay was wrongly convicted, which is not true. And you were still saying how much of a better person the reverend is than the rest of us for saying something that is not true.

I'm very convinced Jesus live. I have no problem at all with that "fact".

I just have never thought he was the only begotten & very convinced Jesus didn't think so either:>)

I'm not a "liberal". posted by Data

Okay, I'm done for now.

Why wouldn't this preacher say these things about Lay when he is about to come into a substantial windfall from the estate. Never look a gift horse in the mouth.

This speech was not about Lay it was a way for this reverend to rake in the dough.

There is no historical record of jeebus.

I have no doubt that you are not superstitious.

So tell me, I am very curious. What do non superstitious imbeciles believe in?

Cheers

Who is the bigger villian? Lay or Zarqawi?

"Who is the bigger villian? Lay or Zarqawi?"

Zarqawi's crimes were much worse so I'd go with him.

But in his own demented way Zarqawi thought he was doing something for his people. Lay was a rich man who's crimes were solely motivated by the desire for more wealth.

BLT,
By any definition of Christian, to compare Ken Lay to Jesus is deluded at best and actually just plain dishonest. This has nothing to do with Danni or anything corporate. He was piloting a company that went belly up in the worst way (inflating completely deflated corporate earnings) and cost many average folk their entire savings and/or retirement in the process. There's no comparison between that and the life of Christ unless you're a pagan.

I'm not gonna defend the preacher's comments on Christ/Lay - they sound like a defense attorney's comments. If they were meant to elicit sympathy they failed. If they were meant as a dig against the authorities, they were inappropriate in that forum.

Let's just be consistent when we hear other preachers use funerals & speakers as opinion launching pads (King, Wellstone funerals???)

& speakers use funerals

"There's no comparison between that and the life of Christ unless you're a pagan."

You misspelled "Sellout".

Marx

"Who is the bigger villian? Lay or Zarqawi?"

What does one have to do with the other? I'm pretty sure no one was comparing Zarqawi to Jesus.

Were you trying to make the point that Lay wasn't that bad? Kinda beside the point.
