Czech's in the mail (as soon as we get thorugh paying for the inept running of the war in Iraq)

Can't argue with you on Iraq, but there is far more strategic value to having bases in eastern Europe than there is to having them in Germany.

Plus you might actually get to do some training there. In Germany you are fined if a vehicle leaks one drop of oil, if a tree branch gets broken or if you dig a fox hole.

Pilsner Urquel is Czech.
Coincidence?

One would hope the the Czechs would want to protect their environment and society from the "Big Foot Print" or the imperial army. And it goes without saying that they would want to protect their 14 year old daughters.

Rove would later explain to Bush that it's "Check Mate" that ends a chess game. The President's hearing is starting to go.

This just in from Vernon: Troops in the Czech Republic?
That means we lost a war there too.

So Bush wants to throw the Czech Republic into civil war, now?

Well, destroying democracies is what the Bush family is all about. Just ask South America.

A lot of former Soviet subject states have welcomed the US military. We have bases in Poland, Romania, Hungary and elsewhere. Czech would be an obvious choice for both sides.

These nations still remember what it was like to have the Russians control them, and they can see what's happening in Russia today. Their greatest chance at staying free is an American presence.

My guess is that in Czech the US will build an alternate base to Ramstein, Germany. For logistics we need a large base in the heart of the continent, and the Czechs are a lot nicer right now than the Herms.

We'd probably keep the two big hospitals in Germany (Landstuhl and Wiesbaden) but shift the airlift capability to the East.

Their greatest chance at staying free is an American presence. Yeah the slovaks are definitely looking to build an empire.

Vern, the Czechs won't be free. That great cash cow, Uncle Sam has huge udders.

Yes, they should want to protect their sovereignty.

Are there any foreign bases in the U.S? Considering the big politcal mess sorrounding the port deals and the illegal immigration crisis, would American tolerate an E.U. base in the U.S? I don't think so.

If we have a base in the Czech Republic, it will be because the Czechs see the long-term value of a US presence.

Every foreign base the US has is at the invitation of the foreign country. And we lease the property. Every time we have left a base it has been at the request of the host country's government -- typically they decline to renew the lease.

We've closed bases in Spain, France, Germany, the Philippines, Taiwan, Greece, Turkey, Italy, and a dozen other places, at their request.

I hope this trends continues.
