We have plenty of time to watch their production and, if necessary, let a different U.S. president make the call. Why are we even talking about this issue now? Is it because the Republican administration intends to attack Iran so the price of oil goes up and the rich get richer? Easy for you to say being far away from the East Coast of the US where despite what Homeland security might wanna believe, the next terror attack will certainly be. Answer: Absolutely NONE. Their "crime" is having a lot of oil and getting rid of the dollar and selling oil instead in Euros. We all remember what happened when Iraq tried that -- Bushie bombed them. So what is your endgame?

Do I need an endgame to be allowed to criticise what I see is naive thinking.

First, of all accept what we're up against.
This is a worldwide Jihad and it's not going away. WE need to do a few things.

Secure our own country is first. Begin immediately to go to alternative energy sources - a Manhattan project to get off fossil fuels. WE do need to play seriously for an Israeli Palestinian agtreement and get that sorted out once and for all and it can be done given Arafat's death.
There are others meddling in there now, but Arafat's departure has opened a window and Abbas is ready willing and able it seems.

WE need to pull the troops back from Iraq - not OUT of the country but back out of sight and maybe out of the country but very close by. Murtha's plan. Perhaps alernative B is to look at Biden's plan which is to split the country into Kurd, Sunni and Shia before they all kill eachother anyway.

We need to take more troops and put them in Afghanistan along with the Nato forces we already have in country. WE need to go up near Wazzirastan and move along the Pakistani border with permission to enter into Pakistan and search for all the Al Queda we can find and kill them.
We need to do whatever it takes to break the back of Islamic fundamentalism and stabbing our allies in the back isn't going to help much.

We need to undermine the Islamist recruiting by

1.an Israeli/Palestinian deal
2.Decrease in oil demand
3.Show of force against Al Queda in Afghanistan/Pakistan border and real nation building in country
4.Funding of Anti Iranian political forces and special ops in the country.

As for Iran, I'd have to think about how I'd go about it. Sanctions first and go from there with a military option certainly being on the table.

I'm sorry, but I have a hard time taking anyone who crazy as a synonym for "a lot" or "very" or "much" seriously. (as in "That test was crazy hard!")

That all seemed pretty reasonable. It seems like some on the left have been arguing all those points. Pay attention to the Palestinians (but the left gets accused of buckling to the terrorists). Get off of oil ("but it's a free market!!"). Take care of Afghanistan ("but the real threat is in Iraq!"). And I think part of the reason many people on the left are so hesitant about Iran is because Bush screwed up Iraq so badly, from start to where we are now.
