Eight is enough.

Dang, that's cold. Hahahahahahaha.

Where's TPS these days and what's he up to?

No kidding. I sure miss his posts. I checked his account yesterday - I think his last access was March 23rd. I was going to e-mail him, but it's private.

Maybe U.S. culture is finally starting to wear off on our northern buds.

Wish I could get some northern bud. I hear B.C. bud is wicked stuff.

See? There is nothing wrong in Iranq. Having dead bodies magically appear is a common occurance, and is even healthy.

I'm sure the victims were real polite about it though.

"Ooh, ya duon't seay, dat's a nice knife ya got dere 'ey?."

Read an article on CNN that says the victims were related to the Bandidos motorcycle gang.

I think if I were that farmer, I'd buy myself a nice semi-auto assault rifle...Oh yeah, that's right, it's in Canada...you don't have a right to defend yourself there.

The police aren't talking. They were understandably overwhelmed. It does sound bike gang related, though.

Darkswan, you've been misinformed. In Canada we have every right to defend ourselves. We can even own guns. Yes, we have to register them and yes there are weapons we don't allow (do hunters really need Uzi's?). But responsible adults are allowed to purchase reasonable firearms.

BTW, most guns bought for "defense" are usually used against their owners. Personally, I'll follow the example of our former Prime Minister's wife. If I want to defend myself I'll use a piece of Inuit art.

Sounds like Hell's Angels are the culprits.
Who said we can't export anything anymore?

Spoken with true ignorance and arrogance Darkswan.Come now admit you were wrong.

Canada has troops in Afghanistan protecting you from the Taliban right now Swanni. My tax dollars subsidizing your defense, yet you tell lies about us.What does that say about your character?

"BTW, most guns bought for "defense" are usually used against their owners." Generico, this is a myth that anti-gun lobbyists have been using for years. There are no facts to support it.

And yes, you should at least be able to keep a large capacity semi-auto rifle for home defense. Are you so naive to believe that these gentle biker gangs don't have them. The government is keeping them from the honest law abiding citizens and letting the criminals possess them. That is a fact.

Ontario police Det.-Insp. Don Bell described the shootings as an ``internal cleansing" within the gang and insisted there is little reason for public fear.

"I think this is an isolated incident and I wouldn't expect to see any significant fallout from it," Bell said.

you gotta love Canada!!!1

They's jest fightn' amongst themsel's.
Move along now. Nothing to see here.
Wait 'till the Mexican gangs get there.

Wait a minute...

Hey Darkswan, if you want facts feel free to ask for them any time. Here is a link to an issue of Time Magazine. They covered one week of gun deaths in the United States. Take note of the date. It was Feb. 1989 and I remember the article because I was in an Emergency room at the time.

www.time.com

The article is here (for a price): www.time.com

I can summarize it for you. Most deaths were suicides or acts of passion. Typically the gun was the method that family members and friends were killing each other with. In the few cases when someone was using the weapon in self-defence the weapon was usually taken from them and used against them.

I won't pay for the article for you, I can only point you to the information. I recommend you read it at your public library.

Lol. I mean July. Good lord, I am getting old. lol.

Statistically, the best weapon for home defense is a shotgun. Shotguns are excellent short-range (which would, of course, be the case inside a home). And since buckshot would have low penetration through walls, errant shots will not hit people in other parts of the house (like they do with rifles and handguns).

And since you are going to be holding a shotgun with two hands, it's less likely to be wrestled away or turned against you(as would be the case with a handgun).

Having a firearm in the house also brings with it a higher risk of both accidental deaths and suicides. Just another thing to consider.

reasonable firearms.

How does one decide what is reasonable and what isn't? Is it the rate of fire? The caliber? What?

"eight is enuff"

Tha's actually quite funny.

Spud laffed anyway...

Was this biker gang related?

No duh there.

Is much simpler onna west coast where the HA pretty much run free, only occasionally having to negotiate with their esteemed colleagues inna mob or a tong or a triad.

Back east there's much more "fisson" as the french say.

Spud likes the fact that the word "surprised" is used like a dozen times inna piece.

We get it already.

An octet of biker corpses is a bit of an eye opener in the a.m.

...And since this has devolved into a debate on gun control Spud sez this...

A gun inna home has a much greater liklihood of doing harm than it has of doing good no matter how many gun locks and lockers you have.

Accidents happen.
Tempers flare.
Children get curious.

Bad things happen.

Be Well.

P.S. B.C. Bud?

Are you fer real dawg?

If Paris is the capitol of haute cuisine
and New York is the capitol of haute couture then Vancity is the capitol of haute, itself!

Spuds not really here.

Gone agin stage left.

SPC1970, I would say there would have to be a lot of factors to consider. Youve mentioned some of them. I'm sure you'd agree that an uzi would have no practical use for homeowner or farmer. Neither would a howitzer. These are decisions perhaps best left to the experts - perhaps the military and the police.
