Any release of Iraqi women prisoners would just be the result of normal review of their cases, says the Iraqi government, and not a deal for Jill Carroll's release. A White House official says such deals just invite more kidnappings. [CBS News]

Much has been reported about the abuse of male detainees at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. But what about the 90 women who have been detained at various facilities in Iraq since August 2003? Of those, only two detainees remain in custody. But for those released life back on the outside can mean stigma or even death because Iraqis commonly believe the women were raped by American soldiers.

I think our government should release more information on the female prisoners we have held. It is a fact our soliders raped many of them and Bush did not allow the photos to be released, however Congress got to see them in the hearings.

I think the whole world wants answers but it would be very embassing to this administration.

Justin

Wow, that is horrible, how many were raped? What were these poor women's names? Who did the rapes, was it all "our soldiers" that carried out this crime?

Cheers,
Walt

BTW

Iraq Won't Swap Prisoners for Reporter

Good.

"It is a fact our soliders raped many of them"

Justin,

Please show a non bias link to what you have charged here...

Stop being a traitor to your own country. Stop believing every little scandal that the liberal machine puts out. If our soldiers raped someone, the military would punish them, you dont have a military that is hiding anyting. The reason why it seems so sensational that our soldiers would rape prisoners is that it isnt true...dont show me opinion pieces and inuendo and rumors....show me real proof..otherwise, stop leveling charges you cant prove...

"stop leveling charges you cant prove..."

And the catalyst of our action in Iraq, was what?......"we must rid Iraq of WMD" talk about leveling charges you can't prove......hahahahahah

Boaz,
So, "if" rape has actually occured, and you are stating that there is only "innuendo" that it has, the rapists will be punished? Punished like the soldier who killed an Iraqi general while torturing him? Punished to the effect of only a $6000 fine & 60 days barracks restriction?

Justin

Opps I forgot to post a link. It is CNN so I hope that isn't too biased.

www.cnn.com

Justin

And.... someone was suprized about this???

cnn is as biased as you can get.....

I posted last night that just yesterday afternoon bush was asked about broback mountain and said he had not seen it but then went on to talk about how people have a right to make much more sensitive comments about it than I would have...on npr they played the question and then bush's answer of not seeing it and then BROKE IT OFF and the announcer said..bush went on to talk about it nervously......NO HE DID NOT....

and try to tell us that the media isnt biased.

Bushlover,
He did kick ass yesterday, he covered that question quite well. Did the NPR play the part where the Iraqi female praised the US's efforts in Iraq?

absolutely NOT.........

hell they ignored the THOUSANDS of people marching against roe v wade.....what sort of coverage would they have given a parade in favor of it?
but they did find the time to talk to harry belafonte so he could call the bush administration and the homeland security....the 'new gestapo'.

I won't listen to the NPR, thier funding should be cut for being biased.

Again. Someone without ovaries gets his Lil panties in a wad because he wants to tell women what they can and cannot do.

You need a life BLT. Maybe you should adopt a couple of foster kids who weren't aborted.

itsme......having ovaries or not has nothing to do with pro death or pro life.....NOTHING AT ALL.....
and it is interesting that you mention foster children......there is a local politcian who has been made out to be a demon yet who has been a foster parent for SEVEN CHILDREN and who has raised over SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS FROM PRIVATE SOURCES>...not mother government...for an entire community about to be opened designed to HOUSE FOSTER FAMILIES>.....and yes....his name is TOM DELAY....my congressman......so glad you brought it up.

We don't negotiate with terrorists because it would encouage them to continue to kidnap and hold hostages. So why are they still doing it??

I guess with the money and connections he has he should do something good.

"I won't listen to the NPR, thier(sic) funding should be cut for being biased."

Their funding is biased?

You should listen some time.
Their human interest stories are the best sleep aid I've found since bourbon.

OK... so I read the CNN article but missed the "evidence" our soldiers raped women.

I believe I was talking about you BLT.
Not the crook that represents you.

Way to deflect.

"It is a fact our soliders raped many of them"

I'm awaiting the link that proves that our soldiers raped female (or male) prisoners. The CNN link didn't say anyting about rape.

"She is not your enemy," father Jim Carroll said Sunday on CNN. "You already know my daughter is honest, sincere, and of good heart.

Why not just go the rest of the way and say "She is part of the American Left, and she is on your side".

John McCain has already admitted he saw the "second round" of photos, and they're more disgusting than the first.

And here's a link from the Baltimore Sun.

www.reason.com

Sorry, my mistake. The link is from "reasononline".

OK... here is the quote "NBC News reported that they show "American soldiers beating one prisoner almost to death, apparently raping a female prisoner, acting inappropriately with a dead body, and taping Iraqi guards raping young boys."

So we have one "apparently raping" and Iraqui guards raping boys. Where in that do you arrive at "It is a fact our soliders raped many of them and Bush did not allow the photos to be released"??

I followed this site for a while before I decided to weigh in and a great deal of what I see is not intelligent discourse but groups of people who have a side on every issue based on ignorance and prejudice. Cumon..... most of the time the facts are inflammatory enough without the rhetoric.

"the facts are inflammatory enough"

The picture of the dead guy on ice was pretty impressive.

Zat,
The wife has a method for me that is far better than NPR or bourbon for sleep.

Yeah, but Glide,

Isn't it tough getting all that duct tape off in the morning?

Actually quite a few people commented on the fact pentagon was holding things far worse. Even Rumsfeld made a comment. But Boaz is right, thats not quite proof... but there is alot of people not neccessarily working for the DNC that having been speaking about this.

Believing our troops are somehow incapable of this however seems like lunacy to me. The only thing that seperates the soldiers from the rest of us, is 8 weeks of training and a uniform as it applies to violent crimes, like rape, and torture.

What I'd be curious to know is if the people placed in such posistions to watch inmates weren't handpicked for they're known or percieved issues that engender them towards committing these sorts of acts.

Well as a retired Army officer I'd like to think we were above such things but my experience, including 4 years in CID, tells me otherwise. Soldiers get more than 8 weeks of training, even initially, and Codes of Conduct are taught and taught again. Officers and NCOs have ideas of honesty and honor and responsibility drilled into them.
But people are people and war can make even the most ordinary of people act in extraordinary ways good and bad. 2 points.... get the facts before making a decision and 2) don't paint lots of honest and honorable military people with the broad brush of dishonor from the acts of a very small minority

PA CMAN,

The left wont do that because they are trying to destroy the right and what we are doing in Iraq. The leftists play off of the complatency and ignorance of their constituents to make their political gains. They know that their constituents won't investigate like someone on the left will, and will take it for granted that someone did rape someone else just because it was on NPR. It is a shame, really. That is why I have to call them on it in here...and you realize they have NO proof. They are just trying to inflame something...

"ACLU), which since October 2003 has unearthed more than 600 torture-related government documents but zero images."

Yes, ZERO images. and saying "torture-related" images to a layperson just means that torture was substantiated. The left doesnt tell them that "torture-related" could be just a memo with the word torture in it. It is a shame....

"NO proof. They are just trying to inflame something."

Kinda like starting a war over non-existing WMD's.

Is that a good example?
