Beneath contempt
Beyond redemption

Well folks he is either with us or against us, and by siding with Iran I'm guessing hes against us.... lets throw him into guantanamo!!!

He's a total kook who should be ignored.

I predict that Pat will die as punishment from God. Just wait and see. He'll die and you'll remember that I predicted it and repent or something.

And CMBell asks (on another thread): why is it that christians are attacked more than any other religion?

Not that his premise is even accurate, but. . .

It's amazing how shysters like Robertson even get acknowledged in the press. In a rational world, someone like Pat would be working in a shoe store, and forced to preach from his bar stool.

Roberson is an emberassment.

Isn't God great. He agrees with whatever you think.

Jesus loves the feebleminded

Robertson is good for a laugh. But he laughs also, as he hooks in the sheeple and takes their money.

I notice his program is doing a great deal of "health products" now...quakes peddling to easy marks

And big fat John Hagee is selling a fat cure, praising it, loving it, and all the time the glutton sits there with the fat rolling from every inch of his body.

There's a sucker born every minute

This story is interesting. Sharon's family is accussed of accepting $3 million in bribes. Link

Arafat can't wait to meet him again in hell.

Although Pat Robertson does have the ear of a number of 'christians' whom he has made a HUGE fortune from, he doesn't speak for the vast majority of them. Left or right, most people know that this man is simply a money grubbing crackpot with no real christian values.

How is this asswipe even considered CLOSE to being Christian? Calls for Assassinations-own slave labor camps in other countries that allow it to go on. He should be tarred and feathered and run out of the country on a rail....WITHOUT his passport....

The Great Pumpkin has a little something "special" planned for Pat. Large orange vegetables. They don't call us "squash" for nothing.

"Although Pat Robertson does have the ear of a number of 'christians'"

Pat Robertson speaks only for himself. If you want to get an idea of what the Christian heart looks like, start with Robertson, and then figure the opposite.

And then realize he still stays popular enough to remain in business despite his idiocy.

I wouldn't run around tar'ing christians with Pat Roberts name, but there is obviously a number of suppossed christians tar'ing themselves with Pat.

I think the majority of Pat's audience is the same as half of Rush's numbers: people who hate them and listen everyday to fuel their hate. Rush I am strictly guessing the 50% number, but 700 club I would say is now 85% people who hate Pat and tune in to see what he is going to say today. 20 years ago he had only old people watching him and they had to have died off by now so who is left? College stoners who want a laugh and rabid lefties like media matters who watch for these things to be said. He says them to keep his name in the press and create the illusion his opinion still matters to someone.

I wonder what Pat made of Falwell's recent illness? I wonder how he's doing--
Falwell, I mean.

Forgive me, ladies, but...

What a douche bag Pat Robertson is.

Peanut,

You asked forgiveness? I'd say you deserve applause.

Good job Mr. Peanut....

I wonder if Robertson thinks he is still worth something in the public eye? He certainly puts his foot in his mouth..

I have a challenge for god....

Prove you exist!!!!

STRIKE THIS MOTHER FUCKER DEAD IN HIS FUCKING TRACKS....

If ever there was a time for God to recall a false prophet, Robertson's time is past due.

Pat, Pat, Pat.

Seems more and more like he is needing to step aside and let the ones with their minds intact take the reins.

Like Franklin Graham.

Why is Pat such a favorite name with conservatives?

Pat Buchanan

Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas

Pat Niceville

I think the verdict concerning Mr. Robertson is unanimous and crosses both political and religious lines.

There is a party going on in his head and no one else is invited.

Well stated, hog.

Nobody is jumping to this clown's defense.

Okay, after Pat cheered on 9-11 Bush kept silent about it, after Pat prayed for God to whack SCOTUS Bush kept silent about it, after Pat threatened God's wrath on Penn. Bush kept silent about it. Now that Pat has God whacking Sharon and Bush's "roadmap" I'm predicting Bush will again keep silent.

All Dems in Politics. Well, except the last one. That was for SaggingMan.;0)

The left and Right finally agree. Robertson is garbage. He is just as bad as those Imams preaching death in corrupt mosques. The 700 club should be closed for preaching hate speech. Best punishment for a guy like him is if we ignore him.

There is a very special corner in Hell waiting for Mr. Robertson.

"There's a sucker born every minute"
Posted by Scarey_e at 2006-01-05 07:35 PM

Nonsense. There are THOUSANDS born every minute.

Franklin Graham: "This is one wicked city [New Orleans], OK? It's known for Mardi Gras, for Satan worship. It's known for sex perversion. It's known for every type of drugs and alcohol and the orgies and all of these things that go on down there in New Orleans."

God sent Hurricane Karina to punish New Orleans because it's a city of sinners. Sex. Perverts. Alcohol. Drugs.

(Everything that TV preachers have historically gotten in so much trouble over. Whatever happened to Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker?)

Pat Robertson: same book ... different chapter.

God bless you all.

I can't imagine anyone listening to Rush Limbaugh to fuel their hate , the only people i have no use for are commies , socialists , sociologists , lawyers , libcomscum and other lower forms of life , like roaches , rats , fleas , tics and other parasites that think the working class owes them a living . There is always euthanasia , I don't think we use it enough in this country , instead of aborting innocent lives , terminate those that think the world owes them .

Franklin Graham is no Billy Graham, IMHO.

If robertson were drowning I'd throw him a stone.

Like tilton, this guy cashes in on the feverish hopes of people going down for the third time financially.

Not only do i hope he goes to hell, I hope he takes thr Schiavo road getting there.

Everything that TV preachers have historically gotten in so much trouble over. Whatever happened to Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker?

Hey, we got a new one yesterday to help the cause!

There was that one time Linus lost his blanket and Peppermint Patty said it was because he was secretly having an affair with Snoopy. Does that count because I think Peppermint Patty was kicked out the day before?

Franklin Graham is no Billy Graham, IMHO.

Give him some time Gal. Not that either seems to be your cup of tea.

And maybe we can get Pat a guest speaking sermon in a militant mosque(they are everywhere) and see how he fares. Of course we will need to have him guarded the whole time but hey, let's see if he has the courage and can convert a few.

When are they going to do a "Brokeback Mountain" for Baptist Pastors?

What I meant on the tea thing is that, if I recall, you are more into Buddha.

And Billy, Franklin and Graham are not.

Why don't you invest in that Yav and do something.

Be a great project for you.

Maybe get Al Franken for the lead with Howard Dean in a cameo.

Reverend Lonnie would have probably "taken care of" Peppermint Patty sometime in the future if not for this arrest frame-up distraction.

Patty is just a little too much of a "tomboy" for the Baptists to be really comfortable with. She once wore pants. She was a "coach". We know what THAT all means ... *wink* *wink*.

Very few Republicans will actually come out and speak against Robertson when he says these things.

Why? Because Pat Robertson supporters represent an essential part of the GOP ruling coalition. These American Taliban sincerely believe things like AIDS is God's punishment on gays and that the Iraq War is part of a divine plan to bring on the apocalypse.

As 2008 approaches, watch the GOP candidates wrestle for the votes of these flat earthers.

Forgive me, ladies, but...
What a douche bag Pat Robertson is.

Mr. Peanut you should be apologizing to douche bags. They never did anything as dispicable as Robertson.

He's the kind of guy that makes me wish there really was a hell so that he could get his just rewards in the end.

Preachers might draw less attention to themselves if they'd lower themselves down the social ladder a couple of rungs and drive a Ford. They could use the saved money for ... oh, I don't know ... feeding the poor ... things like that.

A "Benz" is an nice image thing but why does a preacher need an expensive German car (Benz or BMW) to "serve the Lord"?

Or, maybe it's just easier to pick up male hookers in a Benz/BMW?

Perhaps he prescribes to the
"Prosperity Gospel."

Damn, even niceville realizes Robertson is insane.

Me, I'm hoping this guy runs for president again. You just can't pay for comedy like that. Plus, it would be nice to know what % of the vote Pat would garner.

Oh I dunno. Pat has reached agreement with Iran's presidnet on one issue. Could be the start of another road map to peace.
People who believe in a capricious god like capricious ministers.

So if Bush and Rice who spent a lot of time negotiating the Palestine State deal have a heart attack, get assassinated, break a finger nail is this also going to be called Gods punishment for taking the land from Gods people?

Perhaps hurricane Rita and the recent wild fires in Texas for providing shelter to the Bush family?

How about Reagan living nearly two decades as a member of the living dead got what he deserved because God the omnipotent saw in the future that Reagan hired Bush Sr. as VP and knew he spawned the one who would defy Gods chosen their land?

Why is Mary Cheney being spared on general principals?

"Okay, after Pat cheered on 9-11 Bush kept silent about it, after Pat prayed for God to whack SCOTUS Bush kept silent about it, after Pat threatened God's wrath on Penn. Bush kept silent about it. Now that Pat has God whacking Sharon and Bush's "roadmap" I'm predicting Bush will again keep silent.

Why would Bush or anyone else respond to the ravings of an apparently seriously disturbed individual? And as for retaining a following, just tune in any televised professional wrestling event and sit back and wonder.

Or Northguy's fave,Jerry Springer.

You don't think he comes up with his ideas on his own do you?

For every garish example of false or failing Christians, there are thousands who daily go about their lives in humble faith and obedience. Yet, all have one thing in common with us, all are sinners in desperate need of the grace of God.

"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick."
Matthew 9:12

"an apparently seriously disturbed individual"

I know Pat, he's a tent faith-healer who is, in is own words, "fleecing the flock".

The seriously disturbed individuals are the fools who've made him rich.

Joke in the TV control room during the 700 Club: "Folks, take off the back of your TV set, pull out that big, red wire, and FEEL THE POWER of The Lord!!"

Pat may be a raving looney, but the Republicans count on him delivering the raving looney vote from his cult.

Pat Robertson's fanatical ranting really makes me glad I'm not part of the loony right.

Ann Coulter probably pulled out her vibrating dildo to celebrate Pat's pronouncement.

Mr P
I was an engineer (maintenance supervisor) at Channel 26 in Houston in 1973 when I met Pat. I was 23. I was horrified. It has been really depressing to think of the necessary depth of stupidity in America for his success over the intervening 33 years.

So, it's the loony left for you, then. Neither for me, thank you.

Freud said we're born with an id, an ego, and a superego.

Pat Robertson plays to the ids of the radical right. He frees them up to vent their natural hatred.

The id:

In Freudian theory, the part of the psyche associated with instinctual, repressed, or antisocial desires, usually sexual or aggressive. In its efforts to satisfy these desires, the id comes into conflict with the social and practical constraints enforced by the ego and superego.

Pat Robertson obviously cannot control his id.

Give him some time Gal. Not that either seems to be your cup of tea.

I have respect for Billy Graham. He seems like a true beleiver in the best sense: he has depth, character, sincerity and heart. Franklin doesn't strike me the same way.

Pat Robertson is helping to divide the Christian right between those who are just very conservative and those who are nuts. I disagree with most of the Christian righties but I don't think they are necessarily crazy but Robertson and his followers are definitely nuts. Why does this lunatic get the attention from the media???

as usual this story has been twisted and bent to the left's idea. read it again carefully and you reallt wont find any mention of GOd striking down sharon....
now is this what he meant? maybe...but it still says to me that robertson was giving us the passage and then saying....well, if we arent supposed to divide his land...what happens when someone does.
now dont get me wrong.....I am not convinced that it was God smighting him down....but then.........history has shown that these are the chosen......
hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

BTW.....I am not taking an extremist view on this as those on the far right might or those on the far left surely will....it is sort of one of those....
hhhmmmmm things....and then we move on.

"He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,'" Robertson told viewers of his long-running television show, "The 700 Club."

"God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,'" he said.

I thought the universe belonged to God.
Silly me.

obs.nineplanets.org

Robertson did say "may". He was keeping his options open.

God "may" have blessed Robertson or Robertson "may" be a Capitalist Christian who has mislead his followers into believing lies.

May?

"He's a total kook who should be ignored."
"Pat Robertson speaks only for himself."

Yup, distance yourself --- err, almost!

"as usual this story has been twisted and bent to the left's idea. read it again carefully and you reallt wont find any mention of GOd striking down Sharon"
Apparently Bushlover missed the latest talking points and is still rabidly defending its chosen man of god!

Despite all the convenient posturing of the so called "conservatives" on this list, we have historical evidence of them cheering this charlatan on whenever convenient to their covert opportunistic plan!
Like it or not ---- he is associated with the faux "conservatives" whenever he opens his mouth ----- and they deserve him!

"Franklin Graham is no Billy Graham"
Aint that the truth!
I would welcome Billy into my home; however I would spit on Franklin and feel righteous about it!

well if you have ever been through a divorce you know the drastic and sometimes costly difference between shall and may.

oops......the mood just took a hit with the noting of divorce....

I believe Billy Graham is completely unlike other big name evangelists you hear about and still remains highly respected among most people.

Then again, Billy Graham has in more recent years openly let it be known he supports the Democratic Party.

I have to wonder if there's a connection.

hmmmmmmm.........

Robertson did say "may". He was keeping his options open.

He may have said may, but I think the implication is pretty clear. If you are going to say God's wrath is responsible for making people sick and killing people through acts of nature or terrorism, then moral and intellectual honest demands that you use this same criteria when your friends as well as your enemies fall ill or are killed in a disaster. That's why I asked what Pat said about Falwell's stroke. What did Jerry do that God saw fit to punish him?

"...the mood just took a hit with the noting of divorce...."

Took you for a ride .... ey?

"What did Jerry do that God saw fit to punish him?"

Looks to me like gluttony.

Personally, I would love to know what Billy Graham knows about what's really going on in Washington. He surely knows more private details, considering the position he's in.

However, the man has so much integrity, he would never talk.

I would love to ask him why he supports the Democratic Party. Personally, I do understand why he has for the most part kept blatant politics out of his Christian writing.

I suspect now that he's getting up there in years, he's being more free with his political opinions.

Hey Nicey, Pat Fitzgerald isn't a Democrat, he's a Republican. You tried to slip that lie past us, just like they do on Pravda, er, I mean, Fox News. But I caught you. Nice try though.

"well if you have ever been through a divorce you know the drastic and sometimes costly difference between shall and may."

Nope, when I gave my vows in a church of god before god I actual meant "till death do us part" --- not "till I tire of this person"!
More importantly --- I gave a vow of TRUST to my spouse that to me is more binding than any whimsical pledge made to the ether!
But that I suppose separates a true belief and practice of "Christian" values over a fake opportunistic use of religion practiced by multiple divorced "family values" posers!

You may now go back to being an every other weekend parent bushsucker!

Can we retroactively abort rightnut? I mean, he is racist, bigoted scum, after all.

Any righties who support Robertson reveal the dishonesty of their support for the Iraq war and their hatred for the Muslim terrorists. They claim to support the war for reasons of American security (haha) but in reality are trying to bring on the f*****g END OF THE WORLD!!! I think that if they ever succeed in bringing it on they will be surprised when millions die yet no deity appears in the sky and none of the devout Christians ascend into heaven leaving their clothing laying in piles. I am wondering if their picture of heaven includes millions of naked folks.
A disturbing thought considering how many of those who will be ascending actually look here on Earth....heaven may look like an orgy for homely, fat, ugly people.
Yuck!!!!!

Coco,

Even Moses said that divorce is something to "tolerate". Or should I presume you are rewriting the Bible?

Conservative Christians are a pack of liars.

I'm not getting into this with you. Your holier than thou attitude is exactly what I am so sick of with some Christians.

Coco,

How DARE you say that multiple divorced Christians are "posers".

May God have mercy on you.

Here's the email address to complain if you are offended by this television show. Unless they've paid someone off seems to me that the 700 Club is subject to the same broadcast rules as the rest of the world.

fccinfo@fcc.gov

I hope that when Mr. Sharon makes a complete recovery Pat says that it is miracle from God and we should bow down and worship him (Mr. Sharon). Let the pendulum swing.

You'd think Pat would have learned to shut up by now.

The whole premise of Robertson's claim was foolish...that God may have struck down Sharon for giving away God's land.

I think it's perfectly obvious that God always holds title to any land that He wants to, regardless of what the political boundaries are...therefore, it's impossible for Sharon to have given it away from God's possession.

Must be he figures that the Palestinians aren't equally human or something. That's odd coming from a Christian, especially seeing as a fair percentage of Palestinians are Christians....

Mmmmmm..... maybe Mr Robertson is just trying to get attention. Do you think his mother and father ignored his rantings when he was a child?

I often find myself saying "If Pat Robertson is right I'm glad to be wrong."

Coco,

Even Moses said that divorce is something to "tolerate". Or should I presume you are rewriting the Bible?

Conservative Christians are a pack of liars.

I'm not getting into this with you. Your holier than thou attitude is exactly what I am so sick of with some Christians.

Posted by BillJohnson at 2006-01-06 09:29 AM

I don't know Bill; here are some quotes from the bible:

1) "So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder" (Matthew 19:6 & Mark 10:9).

2) "Whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery" (Matthew 5:32, 19:9 & Luke 16:18).

3) "Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery" (Matthew 5:32).

4) "...whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her" (Mark 10:11 & Luke 16:18), which applies to women as well (Mark 10:12)

A true follower of Jesus can neither divorce someone nor marry someone who is divorced. There is an exception to the rule, however. If spouse commits adultery, divorce is permissible.

I don't think it's Coco being holier than though, it is him calling out people who are holier than though and hypocrites! The fact is millions of people follow and worship Robertson, that is a sad state of affairs.

More proof that there is no God, just nutbars of various convictions.

"A true follower of Jesus can neither divorce someone nor marry someone who is divorced"

That is your interpretation. I think "true believer" is the mistake you're making.

I agree with you that it is part of God's plan to marry and remain faithful and committed, however "man" is not perfect. There's a thin line between rationalizing sin and accepting the fact we are mortal and under grace.

If you are under any illusions you are sinless, then you are a mistaken.

Thank God, perfection is not a requirement to be a Christian. However, accepting the fact you are not perfect is.

Hey Bill, how was the Holiday?

Horace

In the old days rape victems would be forced to marry their aggressors. Just thought I'd point that out.

Couple of (intended to be serious) questions, Bill...

1) If adultery is considered an acceptable reason for divorce, do we mean only physical adultry or adultry committed only in the mind. As you know, Jesus spoke about how that if we lust in our mind for another, we are as guilty as if we had actually had relations with that other. Therefore, if our spouse is apparently lusting for another in his/her mind, is this, then, legitimate divorce grounds?

2) What about when one spouse leaves the other, for no "legitimate" reason? As marriage is a covenant - a contract - it is broken by this act. While the "leaver" is certainly in breach of the contract and is culpable to God for that sin, is the injured party still obligated to honor the covenant of marriage?

I thought the universe belonged to God.
Silly me.

White House condemns Robertson's comments

Evangelist links Sharon's stroke to 'dividing God's land'

Friday, January 6, 2006; Posted: 4:15 p.m. EST (21:15 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The White House sharply criticized Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson on Friday for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine punishment for "dividing God's land."

"Those comments are wholly inappropriate and offensive and really don't have a place in this or any other debate," presidential spokesman Trent Duffy said as Bush traveled to Chicago for a speech.

Mr. Bush's spokesman said the president views those remarks as wholly inappropriate and offensive.

www.cnn.com

Notice how it was inappropriate and offensive but not wrong. Kind of funny don't you think?

Moneywar,

Only YOU would notice. Obviously you are not a politician and never had to be diplomatic before. Perhaps you need a translation from politicospeak to American English.

Inappropriate = Fucking

Offensive = Asshole

That's what Bush was saying!

Only really old and senile polititians like Bob (KKK) Bird can get away with actually using the word "wrong"

Surry abute thee mispulling

Gosh--what a dunderhead to say such a thing!

And he said it so calmly and matter of factly.

Geez...

Murphy

Sharon makes a good jewveg. Heb should have been pick off years ago.

"Sharon makes a good jewveg. Heb should have been pick off years ago."

I take this to mean you don't plan on marrying into the Jewish faith?

As a southern Christian white male, I continue to be embarrassed by this idiot. Why do people send him their money?

Why do people send him their money?

Because he keeps asking them too?

Out of the mouths of idiots spews more idiocy......LOL

Should we just ignore him or wait for God to smite him?

I say we wait and watch with joy as the inevitable smite comes to be.....LOL

For surely it will happen!!!!!! Mama, get the beer and the popcorn!!!!!!

Oh please, pull your head out of your ass and remove the blindfold. If this was somebody that openly spoke out against Bush that made these same comments, the right would find some reason to hold congressional hearings on the matter. Don't be so naive. Sheesh, with a name like yours, I thought you were a vietnam vet....perhaps a bit older and wiser. My mistake on the last part.

Its hard to know exactly who is right when it comes to things like this. I mean, clearly, the prophets of the Old Testament were probably considered crazy in their day, but they ended up being.. well, Prophets. And I mean, just look at Noah.... he was so right too. So while this fellow may look "crazy" right now, it is hard to say how they will look at him in 3509. And who knows... maybe God loves him so much that he will let him live for another thousand years or something... Wouldn't that be great? The world could use more men of such Honor, Prestige, and Intellect. Hell, he might be "the One" behind "Intelligent Design." Pat Robertson is GOD!!! That is how he spoke with such certainty about Dover PA telling them not to bother praying anymore...He knew God wouldn't listen because he IS god. It is all beginning to make sence now. I can't wait to join the Club and give them all my savings! I may even give God my home, wife and child!!!!
