Breaking a tradition of openness that began in 1816, the Bush administration has without explanation withheld the names and work locations of about 900,000 of its civilian workers, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

"Since 1989, TRAC has been posting on the Internet a database with the name, work location, salary and job category of all 2.7 million federal civilian workers except those in some law enforcement agencies."

Somehow I don't think thats an accurate statement. For instance I'm willing to bet I can't find out who works at area 51, nor other secret projects.

So we're carrying the payroll for 900,000 Republican "employees"?
How many are named George Bush or Dick Cheney or Karl Rove?

Rosemary Barbour happens to be married to a nephew of Mississippi's governor, Haley Barbour. Since the Reagan administration, when Mrs. Barbour worked as a White House volunteer as a college student, she has been active in the Republican Party.

She also happens to be one of the biggest Mississippi-based winners of federal contracts for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.

But the $6.4 million in contracts received by her company, Alcatec L.L.C., have also elicited questions about possible favoritism.

Federal records show that the company has won at least 10 separate contracts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency or the General Services Administration to install and maintain showers for relief workers and evacuees, to deliver tents, and to provide laundry equipment. The most valuable were awarded in September and October without competitive bidding, the records show.

According to a review of federal contracts awarded since Hurricane Katrina, her company ranks seventh in total contracts out of 88 Mississippi-based concerns that have received deals worth $100,000 or more.

Anyone look behind that big rock?

Pork, Pork, Pork, Pork....
The other white meat.

Northguy doesn't mind waiting nine months for clean underwear and a shower. Somebody please paste an air freshener on him.

See if somebody can check out Area 51.

Vernon: Just because the electricity is on doesn't mean you have to stick your tongue in the socket. It's messing with your already limited brain function.

I did not know they made this type of list. I hope they force the government to release the information.

900k is being with held, well, thats a lot of money too. Wonder how many are hired guns and we just are not told.

Just another example of the open policies of Bushco.

Never met a lie they didn't like to tell or a policy they like to keep secret.

I doubt even Communist Russia was this bad at telling the truth.

did any of you retards think it might be for the safety of the workers? What would you think if Walmart posted personal information of its employees? You'd be screaming worse than Howard Dean.

Do you think its a good idea to post personal information about federal judges?
Do you think a civilian nuclear engineer for the DOD should have his personal info released?
Of course liberals do! You want this information made public to help your commie buddies and terrorists allies destroy this country.

I'm thinking, either publish everyone's -- public, private, guvmint, whatever -- or publish none. A citizen is entitled to reasonable privacy regardless of his/her employer.

You Rethugs! What lying sacks of shit-NOBODY wants their PERSONAL information-just the information on who they are-where they work-and their salary-it's called Government oversight-But-it's really not about that is it? It's about Bushco gub'mint by secrecy-and you guys support that-right?

Pardon my bete noire, but George Bush has yet to even acknowledge that $9 billion is simply missing in Iraq.

You add this to "ghost workers", a very old trick of graft in corrupt governments, and you get to growing fears the US treasury is simply being looted.

I don't know about you, but until Bush shows an interest in the missing money and in listing the people that work for him, I'll assume the funds involved as in his personal bank account in Leichtenstein.

If you publish the name and place of work for a DOD nuclear weapons engineer, it doesnt take a whole lot more effort to track down their address, what school their kids go to etc.

Was the figure 900,000 workers? You know, I can let the odd DoD weapons engineer slide provided the other 899,990 are accounted for.

All this missing money is in someone's bank account, and his party is Republican.

I want all of you liberals who are outraged over this so-called news story to post your name, job description, place of employment and salary on this thead for everyone to see.

If you do not wish to post your information, could it be because you are concened for your privacy and safety? Just because someone works for .gov doesnt mean they are excluded from having privacy.
If you liberals do not publish your personal info here now, THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Never was a problem before, and they aren't doing it for every gov't employee, so what are they protecting? 900,000 new research scientists in weapons development or clandestine operations? That'd be one hell of a ramp up and one that would make the news, even if they didn't release the same data they have since 1816. Interesting.

I smell ghost payrolling going on.
