BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber lured a crowd of Shi'ite day labourers to his minivan and blew it up, killing 114 people and wounding more than 156 in Baghdad's old town on Wednesday, in Iraq's second deadliest bombing since the war began. [go.reuters.com]

Mission accomplished.

Why would anyone be so trusting as to go to a vehicle, when suicide bombings are the norm there?

Sad.

ZAT,
Your constant 'mission accomplished' crap, or your 'last throes' bullshit, exposes you utter idiocy. I guess is these terrorists weren't in Iraq, thay would be home watching the Camel Cup? Don't talk down the terrorists, talk down Bush. You want us to fail in Iraq, so it will help your looney cause, and thats pathetic. Again, thank God I left the 'left', before it turned into a bunch of fuck-ups.

"I guess if these terrorists weren't in Iraq, they would be home watching the camel cup...."

I'm sure we won't really know until they write their memoirs.

But it is true that 4,000 young Saudi men went "missing" from home shortly after the US invasion of Iraq.

So, yeah. They may have stayed home and watched the Camel Cup, all other things being equal.

It's about time you people dropped the attitude that Bush's actions could never have made things worse. The available evidence is that it did.

So Zed,
These Jihadists would have stayed at home if we weren't in Iraq? Please..........
9-11 made things worse. That's just cause I root for the USA. Al-Quada claimed responsibility for the attacks. You know, our enemy? Oh, and terrorists just came to Iraq because we invaded right? Sure, terrorists were in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, UAE, Syria, Jordon, Egypt, Sudan, Oman, Lebanon, BUT THEY WERE NEVER IN IRAQ!!!! Your dumb.

Formerlib (how sad),

Were you this stupid when you were born?

SH had iron-fisted control of Iraq before the idiots invaded. No, "muderers who hate freedomn" were not running around Iraq before they invaded.

Pull your head out of your ass and look around.

As usual, the only ones to benefit by our "intervention" are America businesses. Going back to the good ol'days is not the answer. Let me remind you of the history since American seem to have congenital ignorance when it comes to history.

Dear Formerlib---

You live in a world where nothing Bush does has any negative effects but no one else is able to help themselves.

It's not rational.

Bush didn't know or imagine what would happen in Iraq with a "Coalition" occupation, and that's quite unfortunate. Dubya has the typical traits of a spoiled young man with CAPD -- central auditory processing disorder. The disorder, which is like dyslexia of the auditory process, causes confusion from hearing too many things without being able to assemble the communication into a coherent set of ideas. (Quite amazing he has been able to accomplish so much if he does have it.) He won't listen to more details, he stays on course even in the face of undeniable information suggesting that the course isn't rational given new information, and he is overwhelmingly likely to jumble his words and mis-speak.

So, let's all just deal with the fact that our leader cannot process information himself. We as a nation chose him over any of the alternatives, meaning that the alternatives we put up against him weren't good enough or compelling enough to elect. This means that Bush leads by delegating decisions and anaalysis. Not such a bad thing in a manager as long as the delegates are competent. Unfortunately, we have a "group-think" administration, where originality of thought, balanced analysis, and rational decisionmaking are exceptions rather than the rule. Ergo, we have abandoned the quest for Bin Laden, to electively occupy Iraq, and we paid little attention to threats that aren't the focal points of the administration.

Ahhh. I don't think Bush does anything wrong??? HA! What a farce. His, along with past administrations, have made a joke of illegal immigration, and spending. I hate Bush for that. But lets get off this Iraq 'quagmire' BS. The only way I knew of WMD's was from Clinton. You know, your GOD! Of course, the next post will be a "Clinton Deflection", when you all refuse to acknowledge the truth. No terrorists in Iraq??? They weren't blowing shit up there, but to say it wasn't a safe haven is total BS. Ever heard of Salman Pac? Oh facts....my bad.

F.A.A. Alerted On Qaeda in '98, 9/11 Panel Said
By ERIC LICHTBLAU - NYTIMES
WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 - American aviation officials were warned as early as 1998 that Al Qaeda could "seek to hijack a commercial jet and slam it into a U.S. landmark," according to previously secret portions of a report prepared last year by the Sept. 11 commission.

----------------------------

Bush's fault!!! Oh, facts again....dammit!!!

"But let's get off this Iraq quagmire BS...."

If it isn't a failure, state the reasons.

Ok -- Next point of feedback. Since we ignored all the warning signs to persuade us to find diplomatic means to challenge the tyranny of Saddam instead of full-scale military intervention (like reading about Britain's post-WW1 occupation of Iraq), we'll have to deal with the ugly condition of civil relations within Iraq between Sunni Extremists and Shiites.

The overarching appeal to higher values that is being missed is that the Sunni extremists and Al Qaida are acting like insensitive demons. There ought to be a wealth of propaganda value to exploit the univeraslly accepted view that cold-blooded murder is wrong. If our strategists cannot make Americans look better than Sunni mass-murderers, then something is terribly wrong with our message or with how our message is being communicated.

"But let's get off this Iraq quagmire BS...."

If it isn't a failure, state the reasons.

If he has to ask that question move on....he IS that stupid.

"The only way I knew of WMD's was from Clinton."
Was it Clinton that sent Colin Powell to the UN to present the case for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
Did I miss something?

"If he has to ask that question move on....he IS that stupid."

Oh, come on now niceville. Calling someone stupid? That is definitely returning hurt for hurt and pain for pain.

Aren't you supposed to exemplify Christian behavior? At least try to live up to the prayer you posted:

When the wind and waves of anger whirl and swirl within me, O Lord, help me remember that I must RUN to the Eye of the storm. I must not return evil for evil, hurt for hurt, pain for pain. That's not the way YOU operate--but Lord, I'm going to really need your help on THIS one. I get angry at work, at home, at church; with my family, friends and foes; Lord, I even get angry with myself--but You already know that, don't You! My own love is not big enough nor broad enough to handle the hurts--help me RUN to You for a super-dose of YOUR love--"agape" love-- which will flow through me to the people who have hurt me. Lord, I'm running to Your loving arms. I surrender my anger to You; now fill me with Your love--and let it flow!

A Friend

Clinton sent Condi Rice around saying Saddam had nukes, right? Clinton told the world Saddam was buying yellowcake from Niger, right? Clinton took every lie from that drunk Iraqi "Curveball" at face value, right?
Face it, the Bushies are so afraid of having to admit to the terrible mistake they made handing America to this coked out dry drunk they have to act as delusional as Bush.
"American aviation officials were warned as early as 1998 that Al Qaeda could "seek to hijack a commercial jet and slam it into a U.S. landmark," according to previously secret portions of a report prepared last year by the Sept. 11 commission"
Lies!! Condi Rice herself said no one ever thought terrorists would use the airliners as missiles. Of course, Bush himself said no one ever thought the levees would break and we all know that was a pile of crap.
Failed President. Failed Policies. Failed Apologists.

"The only way I knew of WMD's was from Clinton."

------------------------------
---
The case was already made for 8 years under Clinton. I told you, you all are in denial. Clinton over and over again talked about WMD's. just another Clinton lie, I guess, but he's allowed to lie.

Well -- they had to do something to get the attention of the world -- again. I mean everyone's been focused on Katrina and now that Ophelia is coming and the Judge Roberts nomination.

What were they suppose to do? They had to get the world looking at Iraq again.

The thinking went something like this. If we make the bombing deadly enough we'll draw the attention back to Iraq. Let's do it on the day the UN hosts world leaders so that we'll be seen a a world power. Signed AlCoward of Jordan.

This was predictable ............. They are getting desperate. Iraq is starting to stand on it's own feet and wasn't it just a few days ago when the President of Iraq said 50,000 American soldiers could stand down? HMMMMMMM -- now does that mean perhaps AlCoward is worried when the Iraqis take over -- his little army of foreigners will be hunted more ficiously? Now that's something to think about. The Iraqis know better how to fight like an Arab and perhaps the news cameras will not be rolling ---- IF AMERICA's not there.

HMMMMMMMM???

"They are getting desperate. Iraq is starting to stand on it's own feet again...."

At the risk of being called stupid once again, the evidence for this is what?

I'm especially interested in what anyone can tell me has changed on the ground in Iraq that means withdrawing a few American divisions from that country would be anything less than a disaster?

Didn't they just have elections in Iraq? And aren't they going to have them again....real soon? Oh...facts, sorry. It took the USA how many years to get it right? The idiocy of you libs shows that you are wrong, well, just about everything. You all are so mad, do you actually enjoy living day to day? Do you wake up with your civil liberties taken away? Oh you don't? Oh..........

"Didn't they have elections in Iraq...."

If memory serves, they also had elections in the Weimar Republic. Your point?

Why all this reluctance to talk about how the war has been going?

Leftist media lies. Thanks to Commander-in-Chimp, there may be isolated bomings by a few foriegn malcontents in the Iraq cities... but overall, the deserts and wastelands in Iraq are safe.

Civil War, yeah right, next the leftist media will say there were no WMD's. Proud to be one of the 51 percenters!!!

BTW don't you just love the look of Godliness in Roberts eyes as he pretends. Pray that abortionist Spector will no longer live in opposition to God's life.

It would be funny if people were not dying over this Chimps lack of skills.

The Neos like to behave as if the war in Iraq has been over for a year.

I don't care how little a country is, their leaders have a right to run it like they want to. When the big nations quit meddling, then the world will have peace.

LZK:This was predictable ............. They are getting desperate.
"Massive bomb attacks on our cities were predictable. The round eyes are getting desperate. Victory is within our grasp."
Hirohito
"Yeah, if this ain't last throes, I don't know what is. We have them right where we want them."
Dick Cheney.

Didn't I read somewhere that the Bushies were bragging how they had sealed Baghdad off so jihadists couldn't do this? Of course, if we didn't have all those NG wasting time in the Gulf, we'd have enough troops to win this war.
But our 50,000 troops still get to come home in 2006, right President Taliban?

The case was already made for 8 years under Clinton. I told you, you all are in denial. Clinton over and over again talked about WMD's. just another Clinton lie, I guess, but he's allowed to lie.

F-LIB:

Both Clinton & Bush believed Saddam had WMDs, and it was a popular belief around Washington, and in various parts of the world, but there was little evidence. That being so, it took someone like Bush & Co. to gin-up "evidence", overvalue the testimony of "Curveball", ignore dissenting reports, and send troops to war (and for 1880+ of them, their deaths) on untruths. Clinton did none of these.

Trying to deflect to him for the war is simply nonsensical, like trying to deflect to Kofi Annan or Gerhard Schroeder for the same thing. It's one thing to believe something, and quite another to commit troops to an ill-planned and ignorantly and profoundly misevaluated conflict based on those beliefs and essentially nothing else.

iraqis are killin iraqis to keep iraqis from formin a government and it's the us's fault bull shit //iraqis are killin iraqis cause the group which had been in power for the last 30 yrs know they goin get the short end of the stick/they are pissed cause the won't get the choice land -jobs or women any more
jasman

Thank god the insurgents are taking it to us mentally. Otherwise Bush would think all is well. Shame that we think freedom is the answer

Wonderful! Elections! And they're going to have them again really soon! Thank goodness the elections stopped the killings of 152 people and wounding of 300+ more today by Al Qaeda, resulting in the most deadly series of attacks since "Mission Accomplished" in May 2003. Oh, they didn't? Oh... facts, sorry.

And if you remain unconcerned with the loss of civil liberties that are not obvious in your day-to-day life (but maybe you don't go to a library -- that might explain a lot), that's up to you, but don't expect me to be cool with it. If you want to wake up deluded everyday because you ignore or don't see what you've lost, that's your right, too.

I certainly hope we do win in Iraq. I was hoping we won before, when "winning" actually meant something, like democracy rather than setting up Iran's half-sister, or driving out the terrorists we attracted there by our presence and inability to secure the borders in the first place. "Winning" now, as yet to be defined by the Bush Administration, is ever smaller a prize, and as it shrinks, and sadly, comes closer to reality, it shows what total disrespect and disregard to our fighting men and women this President really holds, despite his lip-service.

He put them there on poor intelligence and/or willful ignorance.
He keeps them there to "honor" the dead with more dead.
And he redefines "victory" as is politically advantageous, rather than what is needed.

Argue, if you will, how to reconcile the last two (How do we accomplish anything if we don't keep troops there? How do we save the troops, while establishing a real democracy?), but not with me. He put them there. He painted himself and the best of us -- our troops -- into a corner. He's supposed to show us how to get out. Where's the leadership now?

"Stay the course" is a catchphrase, not a military plan.

Thank god the insurgents are taking it to us mentally. Otherwise Bush would think all is well. Shame that we think freedom is the answer

Zat, this is a disappointment coming from you.

Cheers,
>

Formerlib: I am so glad you are a formerlib because I wouldn't want anyone as stupid as you on our side.
Yes they had "elections" in Iraq and voted in an Islamic Theocracy, not democracy...oh facts, my bad.

SH would have killed any terrorist who dared even speak up. There were no daily terrorist bombings or attacks in Iraq before we invaded...oh facts, my bad.

Bush's Presidency has been the best recruiting tool OBL ever had. He has inflamed the ME and the rest of the world hates us. Don't believe it, read the foreign press.....ooops facts, my bad.

Clinton may have thought Iraq had WMD's, but he didn't drag us into an illegal war based on lies....oops, facts, my bad.

Walt: I thought they were sending you guys over here to NO to patrol?

illegal war

Briwo, I am doing a college paper on this very subject, perhaps you can help refresh my memory as to which specific law we broke? Any help would be appreciated as I have the paper due tomorrow and it is a big part of my grade. Thanks.

Cheers,

Formerlib: I am so glad you are a formerlib because I wouldn't want anyone as stupid as you on our side."

Why Briwo, you are on "your side"? Former lib could only raise the IQ by joining "your side" and you would raise it by leaving.

BTW...Briwo, does 80,000 = 80,000 in your goffy world?

Flush....

Walt,

Don't waste time waiting for an answer. You will never get one.

Bri,

I do not work for Blackwater, but if they pay me 1500 per day to go to NO, count me in, indefinitely.

Cheers,

Briwo,
I thought you went out of your way on at least a weekly basis claiming you were not a liberal. What the fuck side did you mean by "our side" then?
Hmmmm, I think you may have made a mistake no?

I might even go for as little as 1300 per day:)

Walt,
Good to know you're still ok given all that's been happenning there lately. How much longer are you staying? What is your role there these days? How do you feel things are going? What is the endgame now?

Stay safe

Lead,

All is well. The car bomb at the gas station nearly knocked my fillings out but oh well. I am here for about 3 more months and then I am off to the Sudan. As far as how things are going, turn on the news, things suck and do not appear to be getting any better. We might as well pull up the stakes and head home. Endgame? Get out and be done with this hellhole.

Cheers,

Leadbelly,
A "visitor" stalker of mine seems to think we are one in the same. I believe he said that in the "reporter" thread. How's it feel to know two political opposites are comapred to one another?
Walt,
If at all possible could you send me an Iraqi ear or two? Preferably innocent ones.

101,

Sorry bro, I traded them all for an air conditioner.

Ahh, that's ok, I have a "merc" buddy working in New Orleans, I'll have him get me some ears from there instead. Thanks anyways...

PS...Got any fingers? Perhaps an eyeball? What are the guys over there collecting now?...

Briwo,
I'm just bagging. I know you are a pro-NRA liberal, and so do you!

101,

STBI,

You appear to be correct.

Cheers,

Walt,
As I said, glad you're ok, sorry to hear that the mission if FUBAR.
How could it have gone differently? I would be very interested in a boots on the ground perscription for success the next time . . . and we all know there will be a next time.

101,
I'm not sure we're political "opposites." I'm getting more and more like the Libertarians every day and less and less like the dems or repubs.

Government of, by and for the people is not at its best in this century. Maybe Americans have just become to greedy from top to bottom to get it right. I hope we don't ruin it for the future.

Has anybody stopped to think about this.....of the 150+ personnel killed in the latest attacks....how many were Americans? Everything I read made no mention of any American troops being targeted or killed in the attacks. That holds true for most of the mass bombings that are going on....these people are killing THEMSELVES! If all of these attacks were about our occupation of IRAQ, then why are they not just targeting our troops instead of their own? Because they are radicals, and anyone who does not see things their way deserves to die in their minds....does not matter if its Americans, fellow Muslims, nothing....that is there way. Some are correct in saying that SH ruled the land with an iron hand.....so you liberals say that we should have just left it to him and his "if my people go against me I will just gas them or execute them at will" leadership style.....typical liberal hypocrisy.....is there anything that you Libs REALLY stand for, other than bashing whatever doesn't suit your needs for the day?

US NAVY CHIEF

Look -- Zed -- the pentagon told US many months ago -- the closer we get to the completing the Constitution and the final vote the more the terrorists would act out. AND -- don't forget -- they use the media as a weapon against US. With the news being dominated by Katrina and Ophelia and the Judge Roberts hearings -- they haven't had center stage. They had to do something to draw the cameras.

I've been listening to troops coming back from Iraq -- not the liberal reporters who sit at their desks and hope for bad news -- and these guys are telling me a totally different story. The locals are helping find the foreign fighters -- the local facilities are starting to improve -- the kids are attending school ( boys and GIRLS), the Iraqi Constitution has been approved and is being printed, etc.

Listen to WLS -- AM and you'll start to hear the truth.

Hey CLue Phone Girls went to school under Saddam Hussein's reign. in fact they were some of the HIGHEST educated in the whoole Middle East. I don't know where You have been Armella probably under a Rock.

Larry

""if my people go against me I will just gas them or execute them at will" leadership style"
hey, it never bothered right wing icon Ronnie Reagan, and his best buddy Donnie Rumfilled, who are we to complain?
LiZardKisser, YOU probably voted for Reagan and George H who supported Saddam when he gassed the kurds, didn't you?
Murderous bitch, aren't you?
But not to worry, once Tehran takes total control of Iraq, they'll straighten everything out. And I hope the mad ayatollahs know enough to send a thank you card to every American who voted for George W. It's not every despotic theocracy that gets their enemy handed to them on a silver platter the way old Dumbya did with Iraq.
