Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Wednesday, February 22, 2012

For decades, scientists have looked for explanations as to why certain conditions occur with age, among them memory loss, slower reaction time, insomnia and even depression. They have scrupulously investigated such suspects as high cholesterol, obesity, heart disease and an inactive lifestyle.

Now a fascinating body of research supports a largely unrecognized culprit: the aging of the eye.

We know Corky suffers from it. He can't even see what an Epic Failure Obama is.

Forgive me for repeating myself, but as I see it, Obama is either:

1) Complicit in the GOP plans
2) Unable to stand up to the GOP plans

Either way, he does not deserve a second term IMHO.

This make think of this song.

Anyway,

The basic point of the article is that receiving a diminished amount of light (because of lens problems, macular degeneration and/or cataracts) cause other health problems because it throws off a person's circadian rhythms.

If this is true, this would presupposed a higher incident rate of the health problems in blind people. The articles never addresses blindness in relation to overall health.

Cory's Cabana Boy claims I'm suffering from ODS (Obama Deficit Spending). Who said he was totally stupid?

Thanks for the article, Corky.

It raises some good point for us old farts. Good reasons to spend more time outside in the sun!!!

The bit about the florescent bulbs being good for us is nice to know as well as the blue-blocking artificial lenses used in cataract surgery.

Now a fascinating body of research supports a largely unrecognized culprit: the aging of the eye.

A lady goes to a doctor and complains of athritis in her right knee.
Doctor: "That's because of age"
Lady: "But doctor, my left knee is the same age and it's fine."

Point: to blame age tells you nothing. This sounds like a government funded study.

Ray,

Read the article. It talks about the lens of the eye yellowing as you age. This reduces the transmission blue light to the retina.

Less blue light causes all kinds of problems for your body.

That is the jist of the article. Sounds like something to investigate since EVERYONE eventually gets older and the cost of healthcare for them is a pretty significant sum. If something like this can reduce health costs by, say, not using the blue blocking lenses for cataract surgery or having people use brighter Flourescent bulbs or encouraging people over 40 to spend more time outdoors, then it would be money well spent.

Or, they could just give the money to the Koch Brothers for being rich and white and owning a bunch of little parrots like you.

-This sounds like a government funded study.

THAT sounds like a freaked out evil government conspiracy theorist.

Get a little sun, Ray, and maybe the paranoia will slow down a bit.

lmao!

Way ahead of you. I use a sun lamp regularly. It's the best way to get Vitamin D. It makes flu vaccines useless.

If you were competent yourself, you would recognized government incompetence. Eye diseases like glaucoma are symptomatic of a general poor quality of health, not a causal factor.

The article recognizes that light reduces the quality of sleep. I keep my bedroom in total darkness with the use of black out curtains. It makes a big difference.

No doctor required.

Lessee now, well documented medical research or "Dr" Raystradumbass the anit-gub'mint paranoid??

Decisions, decisions.....

Lessee now, well documented medical research or "Dr" Raystradumbass the anit-gub'mint paranoid??

Yes it's well documented, shithead. But it's extremely narrow and it doesn't address nutritutional factors. Mainstream medicine ignores nutrition in all but extreme cases.

Decisions, decisions.....

You're too stupid to think outside of your juvenile box.

Ray,

Your sun lamp sounds like a good idea. Is it full spectrum? Are you using eye protection or keeping your eyes open when it is on?

You might be getting the benefits of the Vitamin D production but not the other benefits.

You didn't mention your age so if you are under 40 you don't need to be too concerned about the eye thing.

Back to the sun lamp thing, you are aware of something called skin cancer, aren't you?

Moderation in all things except coffee.

I believe it is just the B spectrum with blue and infrared. I wear special goggles. See Mercola.com

The sun is always the best source of Vitamin D, sumlamp secong, supplements third. People should get their blood tested for it. It's not expensive.

You didn't mention your age so if you are under 40 you don't need to be too concerned about the eye thing.

I'm close to 70. I need glasses for reading and that's about all. My vision is crystal clear when I drive at night. And my eyes don't get tired from working at a computer all day.

Back to the sun lamp thing, you are aware of something called skin cancer, aren't you?

The industry has come a long way. I get an average of ten minutes a day which produces a very light tan.

Beta Carotene is essential for eye health. It converts to Vitamin A as your body needs it. Overconsumption of carbohydrates and sweets is a major contributing factor to eye disease.

Try going outside, Ray.

Sheesh!

The eye-health correlation sounds like the person conducting a physical exam how often you go to the dentist - a way of checking out general health maintenance.

So your "final solution" is to elect someone who is entirely complicit with the GOP? THAT makes sense. The real solution is to toss those teabagging morons out on their ass and remove Boner as House Speaker. But that takes courage, a trait you sorely lack.

Corky is in competition with Danni and Zed for the dumbest DR poster.

Yes to both BUT handing the Prez to the Repubs things will get a lot

Obama is more center right then I like but is not insane or completely
out of touch with some of the troubles of the poor or middle class as Rmoney

privatize medicare or medicaid

THAT should read privatize Social security De-fund medicare medicaid

#22, dude, how the fuck did you ever make out of school?

All I see is a bunch of useless English letters all fornicating with each other.

Maybe this is what you get when kids learn to write on an iPod?

Good luck finding stable employment. I wouldn't trust you to even call in sick consistently.

Oh, and remove the weave, wash that scalp, then go back to school.
