"In Performance at the White House" series.

Among the headliners: Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

But it was the presence of blues legends such as B.B. King and Buddy Guy that impressed some of the art form's youngest performers, including jazz musician Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, 26.

Airs next Monday night.

Without listening: Key of E.

Crispee can't keep his mind offa my privates.

Just like the rest of the gals.

Yeah, but the song was "The Thrill is Gone."

Rmoeny's theme song is, of course, Pink Floyd's, "Money".

Santorum's is, "Still Crazy After All These Years"

Disappointed Obama voters?

"It's My Party and I'll Whine If Want To".

Drudge posted the set list. If accurate, looked like a great show.

BB King, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, and Jeff Beck alone makes me drool.

Did Obama sing "You can't always get what you want" or Ain't too proud to beg"?

Michelle makes McWussy drool.

One of the best concerts I ever saw was Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Carlos Santana.

Wow...just wow.

K

That was a long time ago.... but check it out, they are at least trying to do it again...

"He (Jeff Beck) also mentioned that the greasy hands on the cover of You Had It Coming were his, and that the rumored tour with him, Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana, mentioned in December, was not going to happen because of scheduling conflicts."

I didn't think Beck toured anymore due to a tumor. Glad I was misinformed. I really hope to see him or all of them soon.

Passed on GNR tickets. Small venue sounded awesome, but 11:30 start time on a week night? I'm too old.

"BB King, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, and Jeff Beck alone makes me drool."

All but Beck have played at the Long Beach Blues Festival I have worked on and off for the last 20 years. Have to say, Allman Brothers, George Thurogood, and Robert Cray headlining several years ago was the best.

Actually puffed with Johnny Lee Hooker and his band before they performed about 10 years ago when he was in his 70's...lol

In honor of michelle, did they play "Big Legs, Tight Skirt"???

I stood 4 feet from Jeff Beck for about an hour when he was jamming in a little cigar shop on Clematis Street in West Palm Beach several years ago. I have one of his guitar picks and his autograph framed on my wall over my desk.

I saw BB King back in 1970.

All three are on my list. Just knocked Bob Segar off my list. Missed Tool due to the flu two weeks ago. Got Chris Cornell and Roger Waters tickets.

That's a killer lineup. The only problem I have with going to see blues legends is that the atmosphere seems to be overly reverent (Due to the audience, not the performer. Buddy Guy dropped about a dozen F-bombs on stage when I saw him a while back.).

I think its great that these guys are getting their due but just something about the pretentious atmosphere that seems to follow them around bugs me. Would have been great to see them during the 60's or 70's when they were getting respect but at the same time people were going to a concert not a "cultural experience".

but just something about the pretentious atmosphere that seems to follow them around bugs me.

Very true. It is like hearing a polished rock album...like Nirvana's Nevermind. Sorry, but that album sucked. It had great songs, but they were overproduced which took away any grunge from them. Blues is also supposed to be dirty.

One of my favorite bluesmen was RL Burnside. I think he really captured the "dirty" sound but he was also very talented and even willing to experiment even at an advanced age. Hound Dog Taylor is another favorite for mostly the same reason.

Although I think Burnside's success inspired a couple of labels to sign "any old blues guy with a rough sound" regardless of whether the talent was there or not. Still, I'd rather listen to mediocre blues than most of what is on the radio...

Also, since we've been disagreeing lately I thought I would add that you're right about Nevermind's production but I still think its a good album even if you want to categorize is as Pop.

I was just thinking about the least pretentious act I've ever seen that I would still say is just amazing musically and it has to be Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers from New Orleans. They play festivals and have a regular gig playing several sets a day at the Krazy Korner on Bourbon Street (mid day to early evenings then it turns to crap 80's cover bands at night).

Dwayne is just incredible and all of them seem really down to Earth, joke around with the patrons, even let people get up on stage and play washboard, etc. I'm sure Dwayne would be a huge star if he applied equal talent to a more popular genre of music.....

Obummer sings, Clinton played the Sax. Clinton left us in one hell of a recession that Bush got us out of, that is until the dems took control of Congress.

Been there, done that....

Mushi singing in President's House.

Anyway, as Messiah was running around trees and dancing with midgets in India, he should be used to singing out spontaneously.

The dementia is strong in this one.

- Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers

Love the Zydeco music.
