The measure for inflation now is different than the Carter days. If it was measured the same, it would already be as high as it was under Carter.

Part of the reason for the difference is the prevalence of technology in the consumer market. The fact that an Ipad2 is the same price as an Ipad counts as zero inflation. The fact that a cell phone is the same price as it was a year ago also counts as zero inflation.

Real prices have gone up just as substantially under Chocolate Carter as they did under the original Vanilla version.
