N.J. Gov. Chris Christie called for New Jersey's flags to fly at half staff on Saturday to honor Whitney Houston, a move that angered the father of a soldier whose death in Iraq prompted Michigan to lower its flags. John Burri, a Michigan resident whose son Eric was killed in 2005, said Christie's decision to lower his state's flags for an entertainer diminishes the honor. In protest, Burri burned New Jersey's state flag in his yard. "She was a great singer, that's true, I won't deny that, but lowering the flag is for somebody that has given their life in service to their country," Burri said.
