Social conservatism, Mr. Bell argues in his forthcoming book, "The Case for Polarized Politics," has a winning track record for the GOP. "Social issues were nonexistent in the period 1932 to 1964," he observes. "The Republican Party won two presidential elections out of nine, and they had the Congress for all of four years in that entire period. . . . When social issues came into the mix -- I would date it from the 1968 election . . . the Republican Party won seven out of 11 presidential elections."

Mr. Bell also needs to fast forward to today. Social conservatives are a dying breed, reviled among younger voters, and run in complete opposition to liberty.

The GOP sold its soul to Falwell in order to win elections, after Goldwater's loss, and though it worked for a while, it's a wasted effort today.

Shhh, don't tell them.

This is just a prequel to his next bestseller:

Pandering to social conservatives is a risky strategy - you mobilize a good number of superstitious imbeciles, but you alienate anyone with a shred of common fucking sense.

The decision to campaign on social issues depends on how useful of an idiot the religious voter happens to be at the time.

"What's the matter DanFart? Afraid of good analysis?"

Calculated that all by yourself, did you?

The answer is yes.

The answer is yes."

Then post some decent analysis, not some laughable book already out of date. If nothing else, the current clowns in the RNC Clowncar prove the failure of polarization.

Unfortunately, Micky Mouse is a figment of Walt Disney's imagination.

But, it's an apt description for your discussion skills.

You are an angry, bitter bigot who thinks that shouting down people is the same as winning an argument.

I don't give a flying fuck about your beliefs. Why are mine such a thorn in your flesh? Sounds like someone is knocking on your door:

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and be with him, and he with me." --Revelation 3:20

"And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years"
--Genesis 5:17

Sorry DanFart. I know it's Saturday night for you and you are just itching for a 300 post ParseFest(tm) to fill the emptiness in your life. But it is 2 p.m. on Sunday for me.

We just got home from church and it's Family Day. So you'll have to try and bait someone else.

BTW, this is a good analysis piece. Republicans always win when they run true Conservatives.

"you'll have to try and bait someone else."

You answered me directly, dumbshit. And your post is laughable; the author might as well be touting Tom DeLay.

"Republicans always win when they run true Conservatives."

Horse manure. True conservatives can't even win the nomination.

The misoginists haters club. Designing ways to arrest women for having a late period. like Regan, who killed JWL?
