A hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee called by Republicans to discuss the issue of mandated birth control coverage in health insurance didn't include a single woman on the first panel of witnesses. The five-person, all-male panel consisted of a Roman Catholic bishop, a Lutheran reverend, a rabbi and two professors. "Where are the women?" asked House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. "What is it that men don't understand about women's health and how central the issue of family planning is to that?"
