Catcher Gary "The Kid" Carter, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, died Thursday after battling a malignant brain tumor since last year. He was 57. Carter was an 11-time All-Star who was part of the 1986 World Series champion New York Mets team. He hit a single in the bottom of the 10th in game 6 to help the Mets rally over the Boston Red Sox. He also played for the Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.

For anybody who loves or even likes baseball...
Boston 1986 Game 6 - I put champagne in the freezer and called
my girl to come celebrate - by the time she got to me...
well you know the rest. But I really enjoyed and appreciated
Gary Carter.

this guy used to beat our brains out in the astrodome...

gone way too soon....

Brain Tumor...It Explains The Constant Smiling.

Be Well.

RIP Gary

Heard about his tumor last year. A sad loss for baseball. He played the game with joy and optimism.
RIP, Mr. Carter

His 3rd person use in interviews was beyond nauseating, culminating in one Expo teammate pinning in the dressing room an excerpt highlighting "Gary Carter" about 15 times. Sad affair to say the least.

He was so different from teammate superstar, Andre Dawson, that they never gelled, one reason what that killer team never won a championship.

RIP.

"one reason what that killer team never won a championship

the other reason was that they were the expos and played their home games on a carpet inside a gigantic concrete ugly in front of 15,000-20,000 francophones who didn't even know how to do "the wave" properly.

what a way to suck the soul out of a professional team...

R.I.P. Gary Carter.

Nerfherder, your wrong on both accounts. Expos were drawing great when they had Raines, Dawson, Carter, Rodgers etc. The Peppers, excuse me, I mean the French, they know their baseball. Your right about that concrete slab Big O.
