Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Since President Barack Obama moved to require Catholic hospitals and universities to offer their employees contraceptive health benefits, Republicans have accused the administration of an unprecedented attack on religious freedoms. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) accused Obama of "a direct violation of the 1st Amendment." But years before the current controversy, Huckabee and other GOP lawmakers and governors around the country backed similar mandates.

Sssssshhhhhhh.

Let's not talk about who backed allowing birth control access to women when, or who backed an individual mandate to buy insurance when, or who voted for deficits before it became vogue to vote against them, it is about now and what the 1% and the Vatican wants.

Funny how the righties piss their pants about Obama "taking orders" from Europe and the UN, but they are perfectly fine taking orders from the Vatican even though it is in *GASP*, Europe.

Perhaps we need to make insurance companies cover Obama Derangement Syndrome.

I hear euthanasia is the preferred treatment.

Because it is not about Birth Control at all really. It's about Defeating Obama at all costs...you know...that Waterloo thingy.

This is not the Waterloo you are looking for GOPiggies!

If Obama was for everyone getting a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the GOP would find a reason that such a sandwich would destroy the liberty of millions of Americans. One problem, no one gets fooled any more, they wore the whole thing out. America is laughing at the Republican Party and the Bishops of the Catholic Church these days .

This is not the Waterloo you are looking for GOPiggies!

Shhhh....

Yes it is! This is where Obama is weakest! Make this the entire GOP campaign! Promise if he is elected, Rick Santorum will put in a direct line to the Vatican so that Americans will know the true path to heaven.

If Rmoney gets the nomination, promise to put a sub-space transmitter on the Washington Monument, pointed at Koldsore, so that Americans will know the true path to getting their own planet to play God on.

He did?? OK, tell yourself that if it helps you all calm down some.

They were for it before they were against it!

require Catholic hospitals and universities to offer their employees contraceptive health benefits

So.......... when you buy car insurance you have no deductable? You expect the insurance to keep the gas tank full and the oil changed? Just exactly what do you expect from insurance?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Doesn't that say that the government shall not dictate what religon should do and not do? Does the bill of rights have no meaning today?

It doesn't say Congress shall make no law respecting health.
And while birth control may have religious overtones because of the peculiarities of Catholic mythology, it's still a health issue.

Does the bill of rights have no meaning today?

The Bill of Rights still has the same meaning as it always has had.

And it is too bad you still don't understand it.

I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in "A," "B," "C" and "D." Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?
And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of "conservatism."

Goddam liberal!

Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.

RINO!!

You libs are morons to think this is about birth control............

I was not aware that Huckabee was running this time.

You're right Sniper, this really isn't about birth control at all. It's about the catholic church deflecting attention away from the decades (possibly centuries) of constant, syndicated, ass-rape of little boys that has recently come to light.

The bishops need to retire to their rape-rooms, sans little boys, and come up with a better defection than muddying up the American political process more than its already muddied up.

You libs are morons to think this is about birth control............

I am beginning to think it is about R-thugs desire to be able to probe womens vaginas if they even dare to mention the "abortion" word.
