Paul Krugman: Something has clearly gone very wrong with modern American conservatism. The long-running con game of economic conservatives and the wealthy supporters they serve finally went bad. For decades the GOP has won elections by appealing to social and racial divisions, only to turn after each victory to deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy -- a process that reached its epitome when George W. Bush won re-election by posing as America's defender against gay married terrorists, then announced that he had a mandate to privatize Social Security. Over time, however, this strategy created a base that really believed in all the hokum -- and now the party elite has lost control.

"Consrevative" - Conservative

Figured you were playing on the IQ of cons, and making fun of them by spelling it incorrectly...

Hey, that's the ticket!
~ Tommy Flannagan
;>)

now the party elite has lost control.

The bigger question is, will they regain it before August? Just when you think they are back on track with corporate buffoon Rmoney, one of the other clown spills out of the clown car to gain the spotlight.

Ii have a feeling their corporate masters will pull the plug on the sideshows - Gingrich and Santorum (Paul's inconsequential as far as they're concerned). They'll be pounding the drums on the wrong side of the insurance/contraceptive non-issue "issue" - and that ought to get the soma suckers back into lockstep.

Ah, Doc Stupid. I see you have not become any less stupid over the weekend. Well, carry on.

No citation necessary.

Ah, BradassWinston: I see you haven't become any smarter over the weekend.
Please, carry on.

Doc Stupid, you seem tense. Are you okay? Send me your address, and I will forward you a half dozen specially trained gerbils. That should stretch you out my good man.

No citation necessary.

No, Bradass, no problem at my end. Keep your gerbils in the usual place.

In all seriousness though, you can't possibly believe all that tripe you post, can you? George W. Bush was a very great President. If you are indeed a doctor you probably made lots of money during his terms in office. Me too. For you to whine about him campaigning as some defender against gay married terrorists is silly. Which is why I am a little surprised that you are not supporting Mitt this time around. We would do very very well under a Mitt presidency. Think about it. Consider this your invitation to join the club!

Hard to believe this dumbass won a Nobel.

Then again, I've been saying that a good bit lately.

When Romney said at CPAC he was 'severely conservative'

I started laughing--and then checked to see if he had a head wound...

lol

What you haven't been able to do, however, is refute "this dumbass."

Which makes you, what, an even dumber ass?

I'm thinking a dumb hemmoroid on america's ass.

George W. Bush was a very great President.

Which, of course, is why he is in hiding now.

If he made the argument; without the hyperbole: it makes more sense.

Prolly doesn't sell as many; newspapers; though.

"A severe conservative, a mediocre moderate, and a Tsongas liberal walk into a bar.

The bartender says, "Hi, Mitt!"

To listen to Krugman you might get the impression that deregulation and tax cuts for the rich are a bad thing. What a moron. Right up Doc Stupid's alley. My family trust fund almost doubled in value over the Bush years. Those were golden years. Which is why so many of the smartest people in America support Mitt.

When did Afkabibblebabbledribble's learn to type in something resembling proper sentence structure?

When I read old BradassWinston here, I just can't help but be reminded of the character Nick Carraway's observation about Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby "There is no confusion like the confusion of a simple mind."

Krugman misdiagnosed the symptoms.

Nothing different about conservative message or actions. More and More Americans are realizing that repubs arguing over who is more conservative is like two guys arguing over who is more stupid, or better yet:

Repub1 : I have the smallest dick.
Repub2 : No, I have the smallest dick.

I love it when unraveled libtards want to comment on conservatism. Pauly Goofnuts better wake up and smell the shit stain that was created when he got little Barry elected only because he is a clean black guy with no negro dialect. (1/2 black, I mean).

Paul Krugman should be doing Keebler Cookie Commercials.

BradassWinston appeals to citizens to vote their economic interests.

When The President appeals to citizens to vote their economic interests the Bradasses of the world whine about "class warfare".

If you are indeed a doctor you probably made lots of money during his terms in office. Me too.

So you are a doctor this week.

Anyone who believes they are not voting in their own perceived self interest every time they vote is lying to themself. Anyone who believes that wealth and class don't define large blocs of voters in America is lying to themself. Anyone who takes stupid pills probably got the prescription from Doc Stupid.

No citation necessary.

love krugman threads...

only one word needs to be written

enron

"Anyone who believes they are not voting in their own perceived self interest every time they vote is lying to themself."

Anyone who doesn't know there may frequently be one hell of a gap between perceived self interest and actual self interest is a fool.

We are talking BadassWinston here, so I apologize to other posters for the redundancy built into my post.

^That's why the little people need their betters to tell them what is good for them.

Being a hoity toity intellectual clearly Doc Stupid knows what is in his self interest as opposed to his perceived self interest. Which is why he always favors increased taxes and free prescriptions for stupid pills. What an idiot! If you are a doctor, and if you have any substantial assets it is in both your perceived and actual self interest to support Mitt. Your stupidity is making my head spin.

Did this guy ^^^^^ just offer to send another poster 'gerbils' to 'stretch him out'? He seems to be admitting that he trains Gerbils just for that special purpose. Ugh!

I wonder if Bradford is actually Richard Gere?

Bush made Obama look good. So does Mitt.

"No, Bradass, no problem at my end. Keep your gerbils in the usual place."-

Jeez, Doc...speaking of gerbils, I see you're STILL posting the bullshit from Klutzman. You seem to fully understand his economic principles so perhaps you can help me to understand. In ONE paragraph, can you 'splain to me his bedrock theory that we can reach prosperity by borrowing, spending, creating deficits, and increasing our burgeoning national debt? Is it just that one must have a PhD to grasp the concept or is it possible that you progressives are just fucked up...so fucked up you make Hogan's goat appear to be a well oiled precision instrument?

24 hours to come up with that?

No gerbil (or goat, apparently) seems safe if it falls within your reaching grasp, Bradass.

Dr. Resident Nitwit? Huh?

Take 2 stupid pills and call me in the morning.

"All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate. [...]
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared."

Grover Norquist
at CPAC

Where Mr. Kurgman goes astray is that he doesn't understand most people have no use for either the republican party or the democrat party. They're sick of both. Mostly because there is no difference.

Politiicans will always have more in common with politicians then they ever will with common people.

To be fair to Krugman, he's found plenty of fault with Obama and other Dems. My guess is he might even agree with you - Washboard - at least to a certain extent. Which doesn't mean there aren't some good people in both parties. But in terms of those in positions of leadership/power, it appears few and far between.

Take 2 stupid pills and call me in the morning.

That will still make Doc at least twice as smart as you.

Maybe he should take four so he maybe he would make some sense to you when he calls you in the morning?

Krugman's article was written by a man who has Severe Liberal Syndrome. He is supposed to an economist. How good have his predictions been? Has anyone kept score on him. I am sure the MSM would not, but maybe some other entity has.
Who do so many of the wealthy support? Who gets so many benefits from the government? The answer to the two questions is not the Republicans and surely not the conservatives.

The Heathen rage!!

- We want the Ryan budget. ..

Fortunately, the American people showed exceptional judgment last year when vomiting all over the "Ryan Plan" when it was brought out in public for a quick run up the flagpole.

No one saluted.

We haven't seen it since, and won't unless one of these Klowns gets elected.

OK, BradfordWilsonIII saluted. Paul Ryan is his Viagra.

President Obama will trounce whomever the GOP nominee is.

Probably by more than the 2-1 electoral victory and vote percentage than McCain.

The GOP are akin to an insane asylum the patients took over.

They have made their bed and now they must lay down in it.

Blowing racist dog whistles and kow-towing to religious crazies has created a GOP full of people eager to administer increasingly stringent purity tests that have whittled away a lot for their moderate and independent supporters.

Their weaksauce field of POTUS nominees for 2012 is testament to their increasingly extreme views and hilarious lack of cohesion.

Be Well.

Who do so many of the wealthy support? Who gets so many benefits from the government? The answer to the two questions is not the Republicans and surely not the conservatives.

The answer you're looking for is "wealthy people."

I'll let you decide which party caters a bit more to wealth.

Bonus points if you can wrap your head around the notion that allowing wealth into our political process means both parties are forced to cater to wealth.

Krugman was one of those libbies who got all hysterical about Bush's $180 billion deficit, then tells us how irresponsible it would be to expect Zero's to be less than a trillion four. He's just a douche. Not unlike most of the libbies posting on this site.

Bush didn't have to leave ANY deficits. He started with surpluses and was in the hole his first budget. Nearly doubled spending and had ever increasing deficits all throughout his presidency.

Obama began with a $1.4 trillion systemic deficit from $750,000,000,000 in debt service alone, doubled defense spending, Medicare Part D, the irresponsible Bush tax cuts, and the worst recession since the 30's.

You know this. You have Obama derangement syndrome and flipped out when he was elected.

Bush! Drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!
