Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is a defendant in a federal lawsuit after a former Lufkin clinic employee alleged a multi-million-dollar billing scheme.

The suit alleges that, in addition to falsifying patient records, billing the government for unwarranted services and services not covered by Medicaid, Planned Parenthood tacked on services patient did not receive.

An example given in the suit is Medicaid being billed for birth control counseling. The suit states almost all Women's Health Program and Medicaid patients were handed a bag of at least two birth control devices despite the fact the items were not needed or requested by the patient.

Report: Planned Parenthood Groups Engage in Medicaid Fraud

A report released today by two leading pro-life organizations alleges more Planned Parenthood affiliates have engaged in fraud than the ones that have already become public knowledge and part of an investigation of the abortion business by Congress.

Today the Alliance Defense Fund and the Susan B. Anthony List released a new report to Congress identifying waste, abuse, and potential fraud by Planned Parenthood.

The report alleges that millions of dollars of waste, abuse, and potential fraud have been revealed in state and federal audits across the country. It identifies twelve types of potential fraud being committed by Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide, including fraudulent billing and reimbursement by Title XIX agencies for medications and/or services provided in connection with an abortion, illegal under federal law.

The billing violations include billing in excess of actual acquisition cost or other statutorily approved cost of contraceptives and Plan B products as well as inappropriately billing for services that were not medically necessary, billing for multiple initial prenatal care visits, and incorrectly billing initial, follow-up, and postpartum services

Of this waste, abuse, and potential fraud, at least $7,867,547.15 has been identified in separate state audits to have occurred in a total of seven audited Planned Parenthood affiliates in New York state, California, Washington state, and Texas due to a variety of abuses, including extensive overbilling and illegal billing for abortion-related procedures that are ineligible for government reimbursement under federal laws, including the Hyde Amendment;

1. You do have to consider the source (even if you are pro-life)
2. The key word right now is alleged
3. My first statement still stands. Because individuals in a larger group conduct misdeeds does not necessarily warrant looking upon the whole corporate group with ire.

Place the ire where the ire is due and nowhere else.

Today an investigation, tomorrow a perp walk.

Rethugs were soundly rebuffed in their last attempted attack on Planned Parenthood and so now the gloves are off and the witch hunt is on baby.

Shall we go ahead and call this PPGate?

I don't understand all the hullaballoo about Planned Parenthood. Thank goodness for that necessary institution. But for Planned Parenthood I would likely have child support judgements against me in at least four states. The best advice my high school guidance counsellor ever gave me was to just suck it up and pay for the procedures.

No citation necessary.

Planned Parenthood is a criminal enterprise and has been for years and everyone knows it.

And you think we (tax payers) should pay for your lack of personal responsibility?

So there's outrage that planned parenthood gave out free contraceptives?

PANECON go get a life dude.

While you and Obama think that products and services that are paid for by tax dollars are free they are in fact NOT free. Go get a clue Dude.

I bet you say that to all the Murdochs.

In the Age of Obama, 8 million is about 40 seconds of deficit spending. Doesn't even rate a line item.

Plus, every abortionist in the world is pulling for his re-election. So it's okay.
