Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A couple in the Los Angeles suburb of Buena Park have painted their four-bedroom home garish shades of orange and green and covered the house with an advertisement for the marketing company Brainiacs from Mars. Scott and Beth Hostetler's $2,000 monthly mortgage is being paid by the Brainiacs, who plan to put their ads on 1,000 homes around the U.S. "There are definitely zoning issues in some cities, and we realize that. But we have really hit a nerve, and we can't let that stop us," said company founder Romeo Mendoza.

"Summary (the first 1-2 paragraphs of your entry; use up to 8000 characters)"

When did the length of the summary allowed change from 800 to 8,000?

Ha maybe it's rcade's attempt at getting people to actually read the article before posting - just post the whole thing.

It will be interesting to see how picking up $2,000 per month in additional income will be played out when these people prepare their taxes and find out they owe thousands in additional taxes for this income.

I will not be surprised to see these same people complaining that they don't have enough to pay their mortgage because they spend the extra money on some other unnecessary things.

I would be pissed if my neighbors did this.

You would just be pissed because you did not think of it first.

on some other unnecessary things.

Probably. My neighbor is forever having their lights shut off and in risk of foreclosure, but manage to find the $$$ to smoke, drink and go camping three times a summer. He bitches about Obama spending too much as well. He is clueless to the irony.

Wouldn't there be a zoning issue with this?

It's like when people tell me they don't even have money to afford their rent. You ask them what their rent is and they tell you $2,100 a month.

It has less to do with them not having enough money and more to do with their inability to spend it wisely and make necessary financial decisions.

People who make poor financial decisions will make poor financial decisions no matter how much money you give them.

Sounds like your neighbor is an Obama economic advisor.

726, once again, making fictional people up and assigning political ideology to them.

"726, once again, making fictional people up and assigning political ideology to them."

Not the mysterious banks which didn't go after the retainable assets of defaulted borrowers again?

No, crispee. I forgot about them actually. I was referring to the phony couple who were offended that their grandchildren were called "illicit" by the catholic church because they were conceived via in vitro.

Lol

They are not necessarily fictional, and he didn't assign any political ideology.

I know quite a few people republican, independent, and democrat who think Obama is spending too much.

The difference is that the democrats who think this have no intention of not voting for Obama in 2012.

If they pay the mortgage for a year who gets the interest write off?

As a home business the couple should be able to deduct their entire housing expenses from their billboard income. Call it a wash.

DOC,

While you were hanging out with RCADE in the DR's (8 X 10) office last week, I was on a Caribbean Cruise. My life as a Rich Republican One Percenter is good.

Financial Wizard Thom

The city code enforcers will show up and knock on the door of these misfits, but what the heck, so will the media low lifes. Then they get just that much more coverage. Win Win for both sets of losers. Americas 2008 brain fart lives on. NOBAMA 2012.

I'm pleased for you, Thom, being stuck on a boat with a bunch of other loutish losers, getting gulled by the locals in every port o' call -- any idea how many of the shops and concessions you frequented are owned by the cruise ship company you already paid for passage to its fleecing joints in sunny climes?

Have at it Beverly. If that makes you feel better about yourself.

I'll be sure to tell him how fictional he is next time I see him.

Deductions are assignable to who is legally liable for the loan. In this case it is the homeowner.

As a home business

Nope. They are renting out a percentage of the home and thus only entitled to take a deduction for the actual percentage used to produce income.

Rich Republican One Percenter is good.

Of course a 1%er hangs out on the DR all day. Thanks for the laugh.

I'm wondering who in their right mind would take on a $2000/month mortgage in the first place.

And so another law will be born. Perfect example why republican philosophy of less government, or worse libertarian, is idiotic. Some selfish asshole will always try to take more than he is entitled to or stomp on your sanctity claiming there is no law against it.

Chant less government intervention until your neighbor decides he wants to start manufacturing fireworks.

DOC,

Royal Caribbean spent 9 billion to create a new dock at Falmouth, Jamaica that can accomodate their largest ships and they also built a completely new shopping complex next to the pier that is owned by RC but run by the natives.

While it is fun humiliating liberals at the Captain's dinner table it is equally fun to watch the huge elephant sized sun burned white folks stunble down the gang plank to be greeted by skinny underfed black folks.

Glasshouse, pissed??? I'd be more than that. I'm not American, just living here, but there is no way this should be legal. Zoning laws are created to stop this type of nonsense.

Crisis

I'm wondering who in their right mind would take on a $2000/month mortgage in the first place.

Someone makeing $150 - $200 K per year I would hope. But odly enough some folks do it on only $75 K.

What percentage of the house is the paint on the outside? I could see arguments for 1% all the way to 100% if they painted the whole house.

Hey shit for brains, there are more demwit millionaires in Congress than republican.

Fully 36 Senate Democrats, and 30 Senate Republicans reported an average net worth in excess of $1 million in 2010.

#29 Your point being what Gomer?

So now Fuk Wit Thom is a Congressman too?

Were you always retarded or did something happen to you?

Add in House and get back to us.

Wouldn't most if not all of it be offset by the mortgage interest deduction?
