A couple in Jersey Shore, Pa., caught a purple-colored squirrel in their backyard while trying to keep the rodents away from their bird feeders. "I kept telling my husband I saw a purple one out in the yard," said Connie Emert. "'Oh sure you did' he kept telling me." The uneven color of the fur suggests it's likely the animal's natural color, a wildlife official said. "That color looks very much like Tyrian purple," said Krish Pillai of Lock Haven University. "It is a natural organobromide compound seen in molluscs and rarely found in land animals."

Mr. Kacprzyk first admits to seeing variations, but still believes this animal isn't possibly a naturally occurring variant?! Why interview him?

Explain the connection to Fukushima. If you mean radiological exposure, how likely is this specific melanin augmentation expressed in medical or military experimentation? Not whatsoever?! Amazing. So, this implies a genetic trait, even introduced by a foreign agent, probably prior to fertilization resulting in this offspring. There are likely to be a couple more, imo.

my grandmother used to look like this after getting her "hair done"... this isn't news

Scope a grounghog in the middle of a alfalfa field on a clear sunny day.

They look purple.

Just saying.
