Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The state of California may have a free and easy reputation - but something as harmless as a little game of frisbee is now punishable by a fine.

In a country that prides itself on the pursuit of liberty, pitching a frisbee at a pal on the beaches of LA County could see you slapped with a $100 penalty.

All balls, except volleyballs, are also forbidden on pain of the same penalty, and children digging a hole anything deeper than 18in could also land their parents in trouble.

What's a beach without
beer? (also a no-no)

As the article stated, 50-70 million people a year use California's beaches and places like Santa Monica beach can be wall-to-wall people during heat waves and the summer weekends.

When a frisbee is thrown, the guy who's catching it normally has his eyes focused up in the air and half the time is running backwards so those in his path laying on the beach usually get trampled. So, yeah, frisbee throwers need their own area to play.

As for the kiddies digging holes in the sand, all would be okay IF the parents made sure those holes were refilled with sand again when their kids were done playing -- but that never happens. So it's easy for others to trip and break their ankle or whatever in some hole that's more than a foot and a half deep -- especially if the tide has come in since the hole was dug so it wasn't easily seen.

Likely L.A. County has had more than it's fair share of lawsuits from folks visiting L.A. County beaches who got wacked in the head by a frisbee or broke a leg in some big hole left in the sand. Probably why these penalties were put in place.

I agree with these rules. They make sense.

Oh NO!!!!

A retarded conservaturd pitches a fit over some law passed to protect her fellow retards from injury.

Typical Faux Outrage from the easily duped and always stupid mouthbreaters.

The pitiful cun% should stick with the nooner.

That word you keep using...I don't think it means what you think it means."

5--Fucker beat me to it. By one goddamn minute.

Of course, it has another, more fundamental meaning...

Someone else last freedom at their local park? Is there a local supermarket chain that operates the place now? Ever consider the concept of "corporate wars" suggested in Rollarball?

BTW, I posted a thread from a similar experience I had locally. Sure its not something as profound as a beach-ball. But for me it was quite annoying. Here: Incremental Faschism? The New Rules Really Suck (old DR thread)

Not to mention the cost of the rescue squad to come dig the lifeless corpse of jr out when his 6 foot pit collapses on him.

Taking a constutional right now. There's always plenty.
