Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Nearly 20 years ago, Virginia Gov. L. Douglas Wilder (D) announced plans for a $100 million U.S. National Slavery Museum. The grandson of slaves and the nation's first elected black governor, Wilder assembled a high-profile board, secured Bill Cosby's promise of at least $1 million in support, collected donated items and accepted a gift of 38 acres of prime real estate on Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg. The museum was never built and has filed for bankruptcy, with claims exceeding $7 million and $200,000 in unpaid taxes for its land.

Not even a good try at deflection.

Not trying to deflect, just pointing out the fact that you two losers are the core of DR's Ku Klux Kweers

If it is racist bullshit, one of you two sad sacks are behind it. With the other one goading him on. Must really suck to be you.

You're getting to be as bad as goatfuck. and as predictable. You make Chairpuddle look sane.

How is this article racist?

"If it is racist bullshit, one of you two sad sacks are behind it."

Show me where my post was racist, liar.

Seems now days claims of 'Racist' is beating out 'Nazi'. You utilize the words too often and they become banal and mundane with no further shock value except in your own mind,

Hell if you want to learn about slavery just come to the West side of Chicago and see the Democrat Plantation. There is a new crop of voters born every day.

The even let one of "the house negros" get a supervisor position up their in DC!

They?
There?

Wow too much beer?

on a related note former Virginia Gov L. Douglas Wilder is rumored to be "bummed-out" about the Slavery thing ..
~ calls to his Mediterranean Villa were not returned ..
~ his new yacht was on a "shakedown-cruise" [no pun intended?], and communication is not possible

When it comes to slavery the bible, Christianity/Judaism, does not seem to have a problem with it. After all this isn't like it clearly and unequivocally states in the religion of JAINISM ... 'do not enslave people'.

A little New Testament on slavery. Ephesians 6:5 - Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

Luke 12:47-48 - The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

And of course, a little Old Testament.
Leviticus 25:44-46 - However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

Exodus 21:7-11 - When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

It has been argued by some 'believers' old testament precepts do not apply but Jesus states in many places in the new testament that old testament rules and precepts must be honored. Perhaps then a good museum of slavery begins in this most honored text. Yes? Say amen! Ahhhhhmen!!!!

The hilarious irony is that the slaves could have built the museum in week but the great grandsons of slaves couldn't even build an outhouse.

I think the hilarious irony is that the slave masters stole the money and ran.

You are not one for context are you?

What's a museum got to do with slavery when the USA has the most slaves ever in history right now - thanks to the War On Drugs and prison-labor. And now whole nations like Greece are supposed to work for nothing.

What Happened to Slavery Museum?

The exhibits were emancipated.

"When it comes to slavery the bible, Christianity/Judaism, does not seem to have a problem with it."

Then why were the Abolitionists almost exclusively Christian (including my ancestors)? Why were the evil Catholic Spaniards the first to outlaw slavery?

"In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn't know they were doing anything wrong.
Luke 12:47-48 - The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it."

Even if he didn't know? Did you actually read what you cut and pasted there? "...though he knew his duty..."
That said, nothing you cite shows Jesus approved of slavery. He was merely looking at a reality of his time and forming a parable around it. Nice try.

woa maybe Diablo isn't so evil after all! Maybe just another Friend Of The Devil (GD)?

Is that how a black dem works? Look out USA!

Not trying to deflect, just pointing out the fact that you two losers are the core of DR's Ku Klux Kweers

I am offended that Axe didn't add me to the list.
I even washed my white robe this morning.

Seriously. Leave it to Axe to change the subject from an incompetent black governor who extorted the system by playing the 'slavery' card to his personal fantasy of racism on the DR.
Nice.

I remember Gov. Wilder. He was a lot like Bubba Clinton. Real slick. Nice suits and slobbery smiles.

Why is this taking until 2012 to come up when the dang thing was supposed to be built in 2004?

Where's the money and the artifacts given to this crook?

It seems that a crime was committed and there are questions to be answered.

There has been slavery all over the world and little had anything to do with race.

There is little slavery going on in the US nowadays. If there is--it is underground.

Africa has slavery going on today. It is one tribe against another tribe--both are black.

Slavery continued in the United States well past when the Civil War ended, likely into the 1940's, just in another guise.

Even if this place managed to get itself built, who would visit? The target demographic is too busy checking the mailbox for welfare checks and chasing down some fly ass booty.

Thomas Sowell: On the Real History of Slavery & Racism

“Clearly, the ability to score ideological points against American society or Western civilization, or to induce guilt and thereby extract benefits from the white population today, are greatly enhanced by making enslavement appear to be a peculiarly American, or a peculiarly white, crime.” Sowell, 2005, 111.

One thing that is interesting is that the concept of the slaves not being people came from the tribes that sold the slaves in the first place. Almost all people recognize that killing human beings is wrong. The things that is important to remember is that tribes in Africa at that time did not consider enemy tribes to be people often times. Cannibals also tended to work the same way. They didn't eat human beings... if you weren't part of their tribe you weren't a human being.

It was all about who one considers a human being.

This is also why the Constitution and Bill of Rights could say what it said and yet slaves were not treated accordingly in all situations. The slaves were purchased under the incorrect assumption that they were not really "men" but something else.

Of course that was corrected and slavery was removed (for the most part).
