"White nationalist" my butt. Liberals always seem to try and make anything which is pro-American -- such as this country having English as it's national language -- appear as though it's "racist and evil" in nature.

And what's wrong with being a "nationalist" anyway when it comes to teaching children in the ENGLISH language -- now proven to be the best method in helping them to learn in school.

California tried - and miserably failed -- at educating children who spoke English as a second language through use of bilingual classes at school. The graduation rate of those kids was dismal. Californians, fed up with thousands of those kids being unable to graduate, then voted in Proposition 227 to use English-submersion classes in order to teach them and it's proven so far to be much more successful.

#6 - I think saying "the left" in my first sentence would have been a better choice of words than my use of the word "liberals." They do not always mean one and the same.

I don't like Santorum worth a good Goddamn, or Vandervoort either, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a country proclaiming a national language. The French did it long ago. In fact, to become a French citizen, an immigrant has to pass a test for language proficiency and a decent working knowledge of France's history and political system, as well as swearing allegiance to French values. The saying is that an immigrant must become "more French than the French."

There is nothing wrong with creating a common experience for a nation's citizens, a way for them all to communicate and share with each other. Our current politically correct system of permitting - even encouraging - immigrants to seal themselves off from our larger culture by making it unnecessary for them to speak or understand English is damaging this country, with sub-group after sub-group walled off into ghettos of the mind.

P.S.: France's language proficiency test is administered by its police. Talk about putting some teeth into an immigration law....
