The longer CPAC and the Republicans try to prop up their evangelical ties of the post-Goldwater nomination, the more they're doomed to become ignored and irrelevant. Religious politics is a fading phenomenon, and the christian fundamentalists are inconsequential in the future of the party. Keep turning away groups willing to join, and you're just going to drive a split through the party.

No group is more of a hate site and racist -- and wants to destroy this nation's sovereignty with unfettered illegal immigration and wide open borders -- than the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The SPLA also continually whines for the need to have more mulitculturalism in this country. And I think we've all seen how well that worked when the EU eliminated borders shoved multiculturalism down the Europeans' throat.

Don't be fooled by their misleading name. The SPLA is just as racist and destructive in its own right as some of the more radial conservative groups might be in theirs.

What if admitting groups is itself a cause of a split in the party? For many, the gay agenda is not acceptable, and they are unwilling to adopt planks that embrace elements of the gay agenda. You can't be a "gay" conservative.

There is no gay agenda.

There is only gay.

Some of them grow up with staunchly conservative parents and that is what they learn.

I was shocked the first time I met one. I harbored the same misconceptions as you are voicing now.
