Federal and state officials announced a $26 billion foreclosure settlement Thursday with five of the largest home lenders. Parties to the settlement include the Justice Department, Department of Housing and Urban Development and 49 state attorneys general (all but Oklahoma). At least $17 billion will go to reducing the principal owed by homeowners who are both underwater and behind on their mortgages. "No action, no matter how meaningful, is going to by itself entirely heal the housing market," President Barack Obama said.t "But this settlement is a start."

How about some JAIL time!!!

Did you all forget how much the banks got in 'bail-out' for their 26 billion protection money?

Steal Trillions, pay a $26 billion fine. This is one crooked business plan, one of many they exercisewith impunity. Defraud hundreds of thousands with loans that convert suddenly to variable rate doubling and tripling payments, bundle subprime mortgages AAA rated based on fraudulent variable rates people did no ralize they had signed up for, foreclose on your customers with forged documents, buyback the subprime shit from the Fed and Treasury for five cents on the dollar in auctions only available to the perpetrators of the fraud.

The reason the Federal Government (Obama) want to do this del is they are $15 trillion in debt and need to issue more bonds. The criminals who paid out the $26 billion (BofA, Goldman-Sachs, JPMorgan-Chase, Wells-Fargo..) are the same people the Government wants to use to issue the bonds. That's why they won't prosecute the motherfuckers. Think changling on a grand scale.

That is nothing, that is a little more that Goldman Sachs put aside for bonuses, they put aside 10 billion just for bonuses. These banks seized millions of homes and each one is worth a million dollars by the time the new owner pays 30 years of interest on them. If you don't think this financial crash was planned your an idiot, there is trillions of dollars to be made repossessing houses.

The headline should read "The Public Pays $26 Billion Mortgage Settlement'

The banks will just pass the cost down to the consumers

When you are the biggest thiefs in the world you purchase an American President and have him sell the American People a bill of goods.

You mena just like taxes on companies? No shit?

Mr. Black, who also once worked on at the Federal Reserve, helped put nearly 1000 Savings & Loans Executives in prison. Nevertheless, those types of crimes were repeated. What distinquishes the current crime spre is the complete lack of prosecution. We are witness to the decline of a corrupt, malicious, violent military empire. Its so bad and big that it will take decades. But slow and steady wins this race to the bottom. It it happens too fast the facts will become too obvious and everyone will take to the streets.

Yeah and guess who is going be the source of the money they recoup?

Oh by the way the states are going to get a chunk of it,question is why are the blue states getting bigger chunks, what is the reason the states are getting any part of it at all?

RCADE,

I am pretty sure I posted an article about the critics of the bill rather then the article you are linking to. If you change the article source and make my originally posted source secondary, please remove my name from the "posted by" section in the future.

Thanks.

The people who will get the most "help" from this are those who do not make their mortgage payments. Welcome to Obama's America.
