Hollywood Reporter: Wanna make money in Hollywood? Release patriotic movies that promote conservative values and do not denigrate Christianity.

Movieguide identified 91 movies in 2011 that scored high in "conservative/moral categories" and they earned an average of $59 million apiece. On the other hand, it identified 105 movies that scored high in "liberal/leftist categories," and each of those titles earned an average of just $11 million.

As one of the few (relatively) conservative entertainment lawyers in LA, this makes me laugh, but I had to post this to stir things up.

South Park already knew this.

This is a pretty weak 'study'. It's more like the opinion of Ted Baehr.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to Act of Valor.

#4, I'm always wary of those films that cross the line into military recruitment videos. Smacks of Soviet cinema or something.

Wow, so after reading this the conclusion is that "conservative" movies are at the top of the heap, when measuring only shity movies. Battle Los Angeles, Thor? Get real! Who the fuck pays a premium to see that garbage?

Rarely do I watch lefty movies since I've learned years ago they tend to be propaganda "fests".

Movies appealing to conservatives aren't burdened with their own dogma? Who are you expecting will believe that?

Conservatives have jobs, work hard and enjoy life.

Liberals usually have lower range jobs, usually live in their parents house or have a multitude of room mates and cannot afford going to the movies.

Yeah, movies about wizards or space aliens never do well. Vampire or werewolf movies usually don't make any money or sequels, either. Or those about false Gods like Thor.

Oh wait, false God movies are conservative movies according to the article.

No wonder the Mormon is leading the conservative Party.

"Conservative movies more popular than Liberal movies"

That's because there's more stupid people than smart ones. duh.

NEWS FLASH: Ice cream more popular than broccoli. But that doesn't mean it's good for you.

Cons need masturbatory military fantasies with big explosions and clear good and bad guys. Those dumb big budget movies are the ones that sell the most tix.

Fun fact: if you're making a movie that helps military recruitment, they'll give you tons of support to make it. That's why most big budget movies are thinly veiled military propaganda.

BTW - Remember how confused and angry conservatives got when it turned out the military guys in AVATAR were the bad guys, and the people trying to save the trees were good?

Even in metaphors, they sympathize with the side of greed and war.

Personally I prefer movies that aren't strongly pushing an ideology. The ones that are, regardless of which ideology they're pushing, are just preachy and annoying.

NEWSFLASH: SpeakStupid thinks milk, sugar and fruit are bad for you.

conservative/moral

LOL.

Yeah, about that.

Conservative does not equal moral.

Quite the opposite these days.

Funny how they still claim to hold the high moral ground while standing in a ditch full of their own racist, regressive, sexist, homophobic, neo-luddite, blood thirsty, theocratic, intolerant shit.

Be Well.
