Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Wednesday, February 08, 2012

Last Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to answer questions about his role in the deadly "Fast and Furious" gun-running scandal. However, instead of answers, Congress got more defiance, more arrogance, and more wasted time with an attorney general who clearly feels no sense of obligation to the American people or our rule of law.

But for all the stonewalling, there was at least one telling moment at this hearing, and it should concern law-abiding gun owners and all Americans who expect accountability from our government.

It was a response to Danni, you blind son of a bitch.

According to the article's author, this is the Big Threat D'Jour from Eric Holder, who says:

"This administration has consistently favored the reinstitution of the assault weapons ban. It is something that we think was useful in the past with regard to the reduction that we've seen in crime, and certainly would have a positive impact on our relationship and the crime situation in Mexico."

That would be the law Clinton signed and an extension of which Bush said when he ran for president he would sign.

This "news" is three years old, by the way.

Obama to gun control group in a private meeting - "They're doing a pretty good job...I just want you to know that we are working on it. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar...."
.

"Fast and Furious, the gun-walking operation that created an avalanche of traceable guns being shipped to Mexican drug cartels never made sense to me as a law enforcement operation. The cover story is that the program was designed to identify the cartel leaders. That's a ridiculous cover story. Everyone in Mexico knows who the cartel leaders are; many of the cops are already on the payroll.

The program was specifically designed to identify weapons purchased in American gun shops after they were used to murder Mexicans. The only thing that could be learned was the identity of the shop in which the gun was sold, and the US government already knew that because its agents authorized the sale."

moneyrunner.blogspot.com

.
"To date, the media has largely buried the story of the Department of Justice scheme that contributed to the deaths of a federal agent and more than 300 Mexican citizens.

Operation Fast and Furious was conceived knowing that Mexican nationals would be sacrificed in significant numbers if the tracing operation had any chance of working."

pjmedia.com

.
The guns Mexico thought were US made were sent to the US government for tracing and found 90% of those were made in the US.

In typical liberal fashion Obama/Hillary lie by stating 90% of murders in Mexico were from guns made in the US.

"This GunWalker thing imaginary because NBC never has reported on it"
--- DR Left ---

Yet another lie by Glassforbrains.

There is NOTHING in the article that says "wants to ban guns" as is alleged in the title. Instead, there is discussion about wanting to ban assault weapons (which BTW, aren't strictly guns, except in the broadest sense of the word). So, why use that title? Because Glassforbrains wants to suggest that president Obama (better get used to saying that for a few more years, chump) wants to ban all guns.

Question: does Glassforbrains own an assault weapon? Why would it need one? We already outlaw mortars, nuclear weapons, and military ordinance ownership by private civilians. Isn't that against the Second Amendment? Think, McFly, think. There are some weapons which are too dangerous and destructive for the citizenry to own.

#29 | Posted by SamBarber at 2012-02-08 11:29 AM

^^^ Thinks banning the combination of a telescoping stock and bayonet lug will make semi-automatic rifles safer.

^^^ Thinks super concealable 10 round hand guns are safer than larger 15 round hand guns.

As long as it made you feel safer hiding under your afghan I guess.

I've always figured any move by the Obama administration to introduce gun regulations would only occur if he got a second term or it was obvious he wouldn't get a second term, ie he was a lame duck.

Unfortunately the repubs are running a parade of village idiots so I'll get to find out if my suspicions were correct.

#29. When I'm on a computer I'll try to track down a great video of a sheriffs deputy taking a legal weapon and turning it into an illegal "assault weapon" in something like three minutes. Funniest thing was that the changes were purely cosmetic and in no way changed the capabilities of the firearm.

I hear he will make every gun owning American male show up to a re-education center where each will turn in all of his guns in exchange for a mandatory, live-in gay boyfriend.

If you know the answer, you're not supposed to say anything. Now I can't make a point and make the responder look ridiculous.

But he's right folks...an innocent old Ruger 10/22...America's most popular .22 rifle would be an assault weapon because it has a detachable magazine, a telescoping stock and a pistol grip

Drop the plastic stock, put it back in the factory furniture and even with the 25rnd magazine, it's a perfectly safe rifle...even though nothing about the action of the rifle has changed.

My favorite thing about the "assault Weapons" ban is my SKS.

I show it to folks, and say "This is not an assault weapon, under the law". Then I take off the bayonet "Now it is."

I tried selling my yugo sks to someone who lived in california and he wouldn't be allowed to buy it because it still had the grenade launcher which is really only good for launching tennis balls.

"My favorite thing about the "assault Weapons" ban is my SKS."

What you need an assault weapon for, to hike in national parks safe from Bambi and Yogi?

" ...does Glassforbrains own an assault weapon? Why would it need one?..."

We'll just rename it a defense weapon and then people can 'unwad' their panties.

"What you need an assault weapon for,"

Storage, ergonomics, performance, less reloading time, cheaper replacement parts, accuracy, durability, adjust-ability and the list goes on.

Now, the more pertinent question, why would you want to ban them?

Only have enough underpants for one pissing a day?

assaulting stuff?

Oh Laudie! Next dat darky he's a comin fer dem white women and da bibles too! You best git back under da bed now ya hear now Asshouse?

Really, let's make this extremely clear: if you want to kill people quickly and efficiently, your average bolt action deer deer rifle is going to do a far better job of it than most of what's called legally defined as an "assault rifle". An SKS is good for the coyotes and wolves that go after my livestock every once in a while. I'm not saying you couldn't take a deer in a pinch with it, but it's not really great for those ranges.

mmm I English much goodly. Still note "most of" There are exceptions for certain, but the definition of "assault weapon" is ridiculous.

Everyone knows that an assault rifle like the AR-15 fires a super, monster, armor-eating bullet! Probably packed with depleted uranium so it can lie around giving people leukemia for years.

Who the hell could be concerned about a .22?

"This link is by a guy from the National Rifle Association. It's his job to scare people that the government is coming to take their guns."

This is a link from the group who paid Obama millions to spread their anti-gun agenda. I can imagine how all those millions were spent getting his black ass into politics. Guess it worked.

Since 2003, the Joyce Foundation has paid grants totaling over $12 million to gun control organizations. The largest single grantee has been the Violence Policy Center, which received $4,154,970 between 1996 and 2006, and calls for an outright ban on handguns, semi-automatic and other firearms, and substantial restrictions on gun owners. The Joyce Foundation's position on gun control has led to frequent opposition and criticism from gun rights groups, particularly the National Rifle Association, which calls the Joyce Foundation an activist foundation whose "shadowy web of huge donations" leads "straight to puppet strings that control the agenda of gun ban groups."
en.wikipedia.org

Sorry... Forgot to add who is still a board member of the Joyce Foundation:

Current members of the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation are: John T. Anderson, Chairman, Ellen S. Alberding, President, Robert G. Bottoms, Michael F. Brewer, Charles U. Daly, Anthony S. Earl, Roger R. Fross, Howard L. Fuller, Carlton L. Guthrie, Marion T. Hall, Valerie B. Jarrett, Daniel P. Kearney and Paula Wolff.

Sorry but you do not even have to leave the DR to see that many people are just plain scared of them and want them to go away.

#68 I agree with #69. I've been to too many political events when people in the audience have called on the representatives to introduce legislation banning guns. While those representatives publicly (usually a mixed crowd) walks the tightrope (i.e., reasonable regulations on assault type weapons etc) they seem to talk with sympathy on the issue.

many here call for it as well. isn't this a site a fair representation of yellow dog political thought?
