Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

On Wall Street, bonus season is a sacred ritual. It is the annual rite where net worth and self-worth get elegantly reduced to a single number. During the 25-year boom that abruptly ended in 2008, the only principle that really mattered come bonus time was how you ranked against the guys to your right and left. The system was governed by a kind of atavistic justice: You eat what you kill. From the outside, the seven- and eight-figure payouts that star bankers earned could seem obscene, immoral even. But on the inside, the outlandish compensation reflected a strict, almost moral logic.

So what douchebag?

It just shows that folks can only relate to world they live in. Not anybody else's.

you can't believe something is wrong if you can convince yourself you are owed the compensation. IOW, how can it be wrong?

The 'good' times are over asshat. Get used to it.

These spoiled assholes might have to actually work for a living wage? Say it ain't so!!!

As the comments start piling in, it will be interesting to see how close they are to the comments hurled at public employee union members on how their lives are changing right now. Like these Wall Street folks, they consider themselves entitled as well. I'm not saying Wall Street folks are the same as public employee union members but rather their perception of what they are owed and how others feel about that entitlement.

Read the article.

Management just realized they can pay the drones less and take a bigger bonus themselves. It also looks good in the media to have these guys say they are making less, even if it's still a lot.

Concentration of wealth, and therefore power, is accelerating.

You nailed it eberly. The sense of entitlement pervades our society and is not limited to one group. In fact, the arrogant POTUS says he "deserves" a 2nd term even though he said 3 years ago he wouldn't "deserve" it unless the economy completely recovered.

But likely with a switch of party affiliation.
