Responding to widely criticized remarks by Mitt Romney in a CNN interview, Newt Gingrich said while campaigning in Nevada, "I really believe that we should care about the very poor, unlike Governor Romney., But I believe we should care differently than Barack Obama. What the poor need is a trampoline, so that they can spring up ... So I'm for replacing the safety net with a trampoline."

Gingrich's comments were a clear jab at Romney, who said earlier this week that he is focused on helping the middle class because poor people have a safety net.

clearly newt is a man of the people.

Newt needs to dropout, when doing so make a deal to become Secretary of State.

Once again Newt is off base. God cares for the poor and takes care of the poor. That's what God does. The American President though needs to look out for the rest of us. If the President and Congress don't step up to the task, no one will. Mitt gets it. That's why I support Mitt.

No citation necessary.

There you have it folks, Bradforth Paisleypants Queerington hearts the underwear.

Well, actually he just wants to get into that underwear. Any underwear, even the non-majic variety as long a there's a male wearing it. He'd even fight for a chance at Nooot's.

Project much? haha

What we need is a vibrant economy to lift the poor out of the poverty they are in--faster.

Many have been lifted out of poverty--history and studies show this over and over.

"Newt needs to dropout, when doing so make a deal to become Secretary of State."

Thank God for the ability of Senators to filibuster.

"What we need is a vibrant economy to lift the poor out of the poverty they are in--faster."

Yep.

Too bad he can't be trusted. Like if Obama turns into a socialist criminal surly Newt would bring back the mean spirited torturous power hugry crap of Bush.

"What we need is a vibrant economy to lift the poor out of the poverty they are in--faster."

Gee, what kind of jobs would fill that void? Manufacturing, assembly line jobs?

"Ginrich says we SHOULD care about the Very Poor"

After all, Callista has to deal with the sales-folk at Tiffany's.

Gee, what kind of jobs would fill that void? Manufacturing, assembly line jobs?

Casinos.

Food service. Valets. Front desk. Card dealers. No skills necessary, just like the brain dead manufacturing jobs you dream of from the 1950s.

Those jobs have long been taken over by robots or foreigners, and are never to return.

BTW, where do you get your bullshit about $3 Nike shoes? You love to spout this talking point, but always ignore requests to prove it.

"should" is not an action verb.

Hey, Newt found a group he hasn't pandered to yet.

Good for him!

*golf clap*

Be Well.

What a stupid thought. Obama would never appoint Gingrich.

"Obama would never appoint Gingrich."

The problem is simple, the 'Very Poor' have an absolutely terrible lobbying firm!

Once Newt gets them a trampoline they will at least be in better shape!

Don't give the poor MFers a safety net or a trampoline. Give them a rocket to the moon so they can start a new ghetto.

"Those jobs have long been taken over by robots or foreigners, and are never to return."

Manufacturing; the fastest growing segment of the economy. Tell me Vernon, have you ever been right about anything?

Don't give the poor MFers a safety net or a trampoline. Give them a rocket to the moon so they can start a new ghetto.

Newt has a revolving sympathy account. Saves on real emotion.

I think it's fascinating that Newt Gingrich is being seen as a Liberal in this race by those Republicans who don't see him as being the only true conservative.

Sucks to be a Republican.

I show how I care by contributing to their cause every by NLT 15 April.

SPUD,

That "Whitey on the Moon" rap is pretty funny. Gill Scott is right. Some people are destined to explore outer space and others are destined to rot on earth.

"others are destined to rot on earth."
