The New York Times Company suffered a net loss of almost $40million in 2011, with its fourth quarter profits falling by 12.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.

The company is grappling with sinking advertising revenue and a recent change in the top management after losing CEO Janet Robinson, who received a multimillion dollar severance package.

Instead of fixing their financial problems they double down on stupid just like Newsweak.

They should try to BORROW their way out of this just like obummer.

They could just print more paper to cover their losses.

shit, NYT should print a retraction on the $40-mil loss .. then report $40 million profit and go public w/IPO?

Possibly true, I do have a history of very bad decisions in regards to finances. I bought a condo at the peak of the bubble and have regretted it ever since. Hey I have the condo but so does my next door neighbor who paid less for his than my down payment.

New York Times loses $40million in 2011

The NYT is the country's flagship newspaper. Why would conservatives be happy that it's losing money? Oh right, conservatives hate all institutions that remind them how stupid they are.

Interesting theory but I like mine better. We read the stupid crap you write and we know we are smarter that you. I've got root vegetables in the frig that could give you a run.

As far as the NYT goes, I don't like to see any company go under or employees lose their jobs but I will not shed a tear for the NYT. They have used their position and "Americas news paper" badly and the result for that is you become inconsequential.

Of course you think you are smarter than the root vegetables in your fridge. Root vegetables can't copy and paste stuff they get in emails without understanding the topic they are posting to.

I don't understand. I mean, the Times is in favor of gay marriage, abortion and Obamacare. Why would it go broke?
Hmmmmm......
