Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Zoe Thomson, an eight-year-old girl in England, has caught the attention of Metallica from her guitar playing "Enter Sandman" with her band at the Bucklebury Beer Festival last year in England. A Metallica member told the band on YouTube, "Maybe one day we could work something out, we could come out and open up for all y'all."

Her parents should be arrested.

#1 - What are you afraid of? That she might use her talents to make a comfortable life for herself?

Having a 3 1/2 year old daughter with her own set of drums, and an electric and acoustic guitar, I am always a sucker for this kind of stuff.

That's freakin OUTSTANDING!
How cool is that?

I liked this one from the suggested videos, "Game Changer", a 13 yr old girl:

You should be arrested.

By the time she is ten... Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

She has some serious licks.

This kid is good. Watched a couple of you tube vids.

Be Well.

Duplo is a symptom of what's wrong with this country. Idiotic, anti-science, anti-talent, pro-boy-raping priests. Sad, trite, and despicable.

That depends on the third grader!

"A Metallica member told the band on YouTube, "Maybe one day we could work something out..."

What he meant was a legal settlement for unlicensed use of Metallica's music.

#15 yea there's been quite a bunch of bitch vids over on youtube about covers. From what I can tell its ok to do a cover but the adv-rev gets owned by whoever bought the original song (not Metalica, but whoever they sold out to for radio time). That's IF they don't kill the channel 1st. Thus only the RIAA and Google get to profit from it.

To me it seeps pretty fucking lame that even Metalica members can't sing their own songs without getting sued and that RIAA has such a manipulated market-trust (how'd they escape anti-trust?).

And yea I do think the RIAA would sue this girl if they thought they could get away with it (get her parents $ by overwelming them with high priced lawyers at $10k/song). Sadly though they'll prolly try to get her to the dark side before she's old enough to read a contract herself.

It does help my channel though - since I got sick of singing other people's songs I just improv every time I play. With over 700 originals its sorta like having real-estate on there. Sure it ain't worth much yet (earned a few $ is all) - but who knows - maybe something will become a 1 hit wonder - or just be fun like its been.

For what?

Having a 3 1/2 year old daughter with her own set of drums, and an electric and acoustic guitar, I am always a sucker for this kind of stuff.

How is that going for you? My four year old is good with rhythm and pitch when singing but translating that to an instrument hasn't gone so well. She does seem to have a knack for the harmonica though. And the tambourine.
