Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

For a woman with three houses and sixteen grandkids, Ann Romney doesn't have very much help around the house, according to her 2010 tax return.

IRS forms released Tuesday by Mitt Romney's presidential campaign show that despite reporting income of $21.7 million, the couple paid only $20,603 in taxable wages for household help in 2010. This figure was divided among four women: Rosania Costa ($4,808), Kelli Harrison ($8,667), Susan Moore ($2,238) and Valerie Cravens Anae ($4,890).

According to a number of Boston-based domestic staffing agencies, the salary range for a housekeeper is between $20 and $30 an hour, which adds up to an annual salary of $40,000 to $50,000 based on forty-hour weeks and two weeks of paid vacation a year.

Maybe, just maybe he contracted with an outside company, rather than hire the workers himself? This story is just another smear campaign.

"Romney's Maids' Salary Raises Questions"

That's right and so does Romney's brand of toilet paper. Anything so they don't have to report on Obama (who happened to use the SOTU speech to collect donations).

The DNC is working really hard to turn Mitt into a Kerry. Funny considering how upset and rightly so they were at the characterization of Kerry and Edwards.

What are you expecting, a conscience?

What are you expecting, a conscience?

Just looking for that supposed difference between the supposed "two" parties.

The DNC is working really hard to turn Mitt into a Kerry.

You still think the DNC are behind all the attacks?

What part of "Never interrupt you enemy when he's busy making a mistake" aren't you getting here?

The attacks and the money are primarily GOP in-fighting atm.

Also... Mitt Romney can only dream of turning into John Kerry.

John Kerry was a decorated war hero.

Mitt Romney counter-protested against people protesting the war in Vietnam and then dodged it by taking a 30 month "missionary" gig in France and then followed that up by returning to the US going to college and getting that exemption.

He's just another RW chickenhawk/ silver spooner.

They are both rather wooden but in direct comparison Mitt Romney makes John Kerry look like Mick Jagger.

So there's that.

Be Well.

Don't bother Kanrei. There is none.

John Kerry was a decorated war hero.

Hilarious Spud

Be Well

Maybe they didn't need full-time help? Or maybe they cleaned themselves? There needs to be more info on this one. It sounds like Newtie is behind this one. He is stoking the flames under Rmoney's wealth debate.

Hilarious.

Be Well.

I'd actually be upset if Romney had live-in maids- it's so aristocratic.

But seriously- the guy probably hired a CLEANING SERVICE. It's this thing called a business, where you can contract with them, rather than having to hire them and pay benefits and wages and do paperwork yourself.

This seems like a pretty stupid attack. If he paid someone else to clean his house and didn't put it on his tax return as a deduction, that isn't a crime- unless it was an illegal and there is no evidence of that.

Thread-bare and thinning by the day.

But I get attacked here daily by people I won't call out who call me stupid for not seeing what they feel is an obvious difference. We can't all be right.

Really?

This is journalism in 2012?

Oui.

One party is for people who claim to love Jesus but who hate everything he stood for.

The other party is for people who claim to love the common man but while constantly showing open contempt for him.

Best I can see here is the ONLY difference:

RNC feels everyone is equally worthless and undeserving of most things.

DNC feels everyone is equally stupid and unable to achieve most things.

that isn't a crime- unless it was an illegal and there is no evidence of that.

Under the internal revenue code, you must report household employees that you withhold FICA from their wages on form 1040 Sch H.

www.irs.gov

If you pay a household employee cash wages of more than the amount specified by law in a tax year ($1,700 for 2009, 2010, and 2011), you generally must withhold social security and Medicare taxes from all cash wages you pay to that employee.

Now if Mittens used a business for the remainder of the time, then he has no issue.

RNC feels everyone is equally worthless and undeserving of most things.

I don't believe they see the 1% as being worthless.

Spot on about the Dems.

The ultimate result is that almost all of America gets screwed by both.

The Dems are corrupt...
The pubs are criminal...

Dems waste money while helping people...
Pubs waste money while killing people...

Dems and Pubs both waste money the same way. People unaware of this fact are most likely retarded, and there's a high probabilty that they're gay.
See #22 and #23.

Dems tax and spend...
Pubs borrow and spend...

Re #19 - I stand corrected. Although this still seems like a weak attack to me. "Whose cleaning his house?"

I would think Romney has worst skeletons than this.

Don't bother Kanrei. There is none.

Claims to believe that there's no difference, but is still likely to vote for the Republican.
