Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Navy SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden rescued two hostages, including one American, held by kidnappers in Somalia in a nighttime raid Tuesday. Jessica Buchanan of the U.S. and Poul Thisted of Denmark were working for a Danish relief organization in Somalia when kidnapped last October. Several militants were reportedly killed in the SEAL raid on the kidnappers' compound. "Thanks to the extraordinary courage and capabilities of our Special Operations Forces, yesterday Jessica Buchanan was rescued and she is on her way home," Obama said.

Good job.

As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed. There is no word that any of the Americans were wounded.

Nothing but net.

Good jorb!

...seems to be very effective at presiding over special ops.

The GOP have less chance to obstruct him in his capacity as CiC.

Can't place a secret hold on a ST6 mission.

I wonder if obama pissed on the people he killed rescuing the hostages?

Some folks just can't be happy when brave Americans do courageous things, sort of sad.

I'll burn some time later searching for Right-wing congratulations to Obama on this latest successful application of American arms. I expect that to be it's usual underwhelming self.

I wonder if obama pissed on the people he killed rescuing the hostages?

Naw, yer thinking of the Haditha thing or that video those stupid grunts released last week.

Be Well.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh will have a piece lamenting American action considering the youth of the Somali kidnappers? Not like this hasn't happened before.

Did Obama do anything but say, "do it"? Did he plan it? Execute it? figure out the logistics? What was his big role that deserves fauning over? He told his generals (or whomever) "Rescue this captive".

Bravo, Obama! Bravo! You did so well tellng someone to plan and execute a rescue from the safety of the Oval Office!

Happy, zed?

SEALs are awesome sauce

The most awesome. Too bad zed doesn't seem fit to note that they deserve credit. Apparently he thinks Obama should get it all. Did you see him mention the seals in his post upthread? Nope. Only Obama.

Did Obama do anything but say, "do it"? Did he plan it? Execute it? figure out the logistics?

He did what every President has to do in that situation.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh will have a piece lamenting American action considering the youth of the Somali kidnappers? Not like this hasn't happened before.

Yeah, listening to long time race baiting shit-stain Rush crying crocodile tears for those 'poor black teenagers' Obama ruthlessly slaughtered was the very height of hilarious hypocrisy.

Amazing the fat fuck could say it with a straight face but by this point lying like a cheap rug is his default mode.

And it's not like his listeners are bright enough to figure it out, gawd knows.

How the lowly have fallen.

Be Well.

I did. But I'll do it twice

Great job on ordering the seals to plan and execute a hostage, Obama!

Or did you do something other than pick up the phone and give an order that deserves my adoration?

#19 -- so ad hominem is your final answer, deth?

OK. It'll take that as a tecit concession

He did what every President has to do in that situation.

Exactly. Have the zero's sycoophants deemed Obama's job the last three years to be so terrible that they think he deserves praise the few times he actually does it?

It appears so.

What perfect timing for the President's address. Too bad for the hostages the speech wasn't planned sooner.

....
.....has anyone noticed that after Obama got Bin Laden, the Repub nominees stopped talking about foreign policy & Obama's military inexperience ?......

Flawless Victory.

NPR this morning mentioned an unconfirmed report that these are (at least some) of the SEALs who capped-off bin Laden's career.

Flawless Victory.

Agrees.

Be Well.

Not that I think this was necessarily a bad thing but I wonder how this bodes for the American journalist that was kidnapped there this past Saturday as well as the the other hostages be held in Somalia.

I would think that this changes the playing field somewhat. Hopefully they will not turn up the violence factor just because Obama want's to deflect from his piss poor job with jobs and the economy.

The campaign continues. Will more people die?

Flawless Victory.

Agrees.

I agree. The Seals are awesome. They deserve 100% of the credit here.

"As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed."

I really hope none of the SEALS stepped on any of the dead bodies. We all know how sensitive Muslim cultures are about feet and shoes, after all. If the Somalis were to hear about something like that, knowing of their anger might cause me a moment of mental discomfort and then I'd have to push for these SEALS to be locked up for the offence.

Sincerely,

Hillary Clinton

Seeing as you wanted Panetta's head for calling Iraq the right thing to do, and knowing of course he and the Pentagon were the ones who deserve the credit, maybe you should refrain from this thread. Unless of course you have no problem looking like an ignorant, partisan hack...

He did what every President has to do in that situation.

Bingo... So I'll say, "Good job for having the balls to make the call, unlike Carter." Beyond that... good job to the planners and operators of this plan. You are awesome sauce. The world should always know... if you take an American, your world is over.

I thought the seals did that one, too.

Remember 2008?

Remember Obama saying he would go into Pakistan with or without Pakistan's permission and get OBL?

Remember all the GOPhers including McCain saying this was a crazy idea?

Basically, if you voted for Obama in 2008 you voted to hunt down and kill OBL.

If you voted GOP you voted to let him go to his grave, dead of old age, having gotten away with the largest terrorist attack on American soil.

Spud can't remember now ...which scenario did you vote for?

Be Well.

"Good job for having the balls to make the call, unlike Carter."

You don't read much American history, do you?

The men in uniform on the ground deserve the lion's share of the credit; they're doing the hard part. But there's a whole chain of command and planners that took part it in and they at least deserve a nod. Everytime Obama gives the OK he is taking responsibility for a lot of lives. And you know I'm not just saying that because I'm a cheerleader. =)

#35 -- deflection notwithstanding, it was the seals who did it after Obama bravely picked up the phone and ordered it.

Tell me, deth, what percentage credit do you think the seals deserve? 2%? 25%?

A restaurant patron does't get credit for his superb meal because he orders it. The chef gets all the credit.

Oh wait... just like Carter.

C'mon spud :P Let me mess with you :P

One can almost guarantee this pathetic excuse for a CiC would not even be asked unless it was a 99% succesful rate. The Pentagon is probably sitting on plenty of covert tasks, or has nixed many because of the fact image over incompetence is the #1 priority for this WH...

Why didnt the Danes do this operation? Arent they some type of socialist paradise that can do no wrong? Oh yea, Danish is something you have with coffee...

My bad.

And by the way, good job Panetta..

One can almost guarantee this pathetic excuse for a CiC would not even be asked unless it was a 99% succesful rate.

Bullshit.

You are obviously suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome and are utterly incapable of thinking about the man rationally at this point.

Pathetically hilarious you are.

You see how this all works in the Rwinger "mind".

Jimmah Carter is perpetually responsible for a sand storm and copters going down on a rescue mission, but Obama is never responsible for a successful one.

LMAO... You come here with the Chris Matthews tingly feeling everytime Obama is in a thread, and you open your gay, retarded third person character mouth about rationally looking at things?

I asked the question months ago, when the hostages were first taken, why we weren't bombing the hell out of the Somalis until we got them back.

Now I know why. He scheduled a rescue to coincide with the SOTU speech.

Still a lot of Somali pirates around. Are we going to kill them, or not?

#55 | Posted by danni at 2012-01-25 10:59 AM

You're a retard.

The first indication of the rescue operation came Tuesday night in Washington from President Barack Obama himself.

As the president entered the House chambers to give his State of the Union Speech, he pointed to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta standing in the crowd and said, "Leon. Good job tonight. Good job tonight."

worldnews.msnbc.msn.com

It's amazing what you ball buffers will get offended at.

According to Joe Biden, the mission was ordered because of the "failing health" of Jessica Buchanan.

Not giving credit when credit is due isn't helping your case.

Killing OBL and this hostage rescue are both victories for the soldiers first, then the Pentagon and Commander in Chief.

"Not giving credit when credit is due isn't helping your case."

I gave credit where it was due, more than once. I don't fawn over anyone who made a no brainer decision. Especially knowing this POS in the OO who wouldn't take any risk.

And if you think this is just more irrational hatred of Obama from our village idiot, go back and look at CoCo's criticism of Bush for not having the balls to pull the trigger at Tora Bora.

What? There is no such criticism? Nevermind, he is simply the village idiot.

during last night's SOTU address, Obama told Leon Paneta, "good job tonight, good job",
what we didn't know at the time was that Obama was referring to the rescue of the two kidnapped aid workers in Samolia by the same unit that killed Bin Laden. The two workers, one American, one Dane, were in good health their kidnappers did not survive the raid which was authorized by Obama. Things like this keep him busy so he won't be
able to show up in the Georgia court circus.
.
as for the "Obama Ordered to appear in court" story, Here's a link to a Georgia news site that got the story right.

So you agree that executives pay is way too much? That it doesn't really matter who's the CEO of IBM, it's the workers that really matter?

This is silly, credit goes to everyone up and down the chain, from Obama, through Panetta, the JCS down to the shooters on ST6.

IMHO, Obama, Panetta and the JCS had to make a tough call, and did so. ST6, the US Navy and the CIA all did their jobs, competently and seemingly efficiently.

Well done all around.

"He did what every President has to do in that situation."

Not really. Saint Reagan would have sent a truckload of TOW missiles to trade for the hostages. President Ford would have attacked the wrong place and Dubya would have apologized twice and paid for the hostages room and board.

You can look each of these fun facts up.

Must be a drag being a high profile dirtbag these days... just sitting around waiting for your turn.

I guess you could amuse yourself wondering if someone is going to kick the door in or if the shack is just going to blow up.

I suppose the techie dirtbags could fiddle with their L-Band radars. LOL.

"Oh wait... just like Carter."

Anyone who doesn't think that Obama doesn't at least deserve a nod for authorizing this mission need only remember what happened to President Peanut in 1979 after the debacle at Desert One. He was a horrid president, and probably wasn't going to win anyway, but that sealed the deal. In fact, one only need to look at Somalia in 1993 to understand how far reaching the political implications can be for a military operation that even has the appearance of having failed.

I told my roommates the other day that I definitely think that Obama has more balls when it comes to the military than the last president did. I don't think Bush would have gone after OBL in Pakistan. Now, had Hillary been elected, you might have seen some really crazy shit. I suspect that she is not one to fuck with.

Yea, Johnson was the best at it. Any way funny the praise for this mission all going to Obama, comes from the same crowd who want to slash military spending, and never give him credit for the military deaths ,as they did bush.
